《I Became The Dungeon Master》Chapter 5: A situation

"Woah, it's so much bigger up close." Eve said in awe, as they waited in a line for the gate.
[It sure is. From the exit of the forest it seems so much smaller. ]
As they waited the line slowly moved its way up until it was finally their turn.
"Please show me your citizenship card." Said a guard in front of her.
"Oh sorry, I don't have my citizenship yet. I came here to go to the adventurers guild."
The main was in though for a second. His eyes scanned Eve up and down, like he was already suspicious of her. "Okay follow me." He said smiling.
"Okay." No one else had to follow him. Was it because she didn't have a Citizenship? Or was it because she had already been found out?
Following him Eve was taken inside past the checking station. The town in sight, vendors lined up, families buying food and items. Making a turn into a room. It had a small crystal ball in the middle on a table.
"Please sit down. This is just a simple test so we can make a license for you. It'll tell us basic info like your name, gender, race stuff like that. Just place your hand on the crystal and inject some of your mana in."
Sitting down Eve placed her hands on the orb as a glow shone through the ball. She was nervous, what would she do if it came up she was a demon, what if her stats show.
"Fwip"
[Name: Eve
[Gender:Female
[Race: Human
[Titles: none
[Level: 5
[Race: Human]
[Hp 120/120, Mp:50/50, Str: 15, Dex: 40, Luck: 13]
Eve breathed a sigh of relief seeing her stats appearing above the ball. Looking at the guard he was writing something down on a pad.
Alright now that Ive got your stats down, come back later to have your citizenship card. Here's a temporary for now with my Name signed. Just give the employee at the front this when they ask for a citizenship card and this will work. And here is a map of the kingdom so you can make your way."
"Okay thank you very much." Eve said with a slight bow as she walked away. She could finally see the city. Her heart thumped fast in excitement. The town seemed to glisten in a light she had never seen before. Instead of the dull streets with a heavy depressing air from her old life. These streets were filled with smiles and laughter. They all had so much joy in the lives they were living.

"We should probably make our way to the guild first. Our lack of money is a bit troubling so I'll have to start quests right away."
Arriving at the guild hall there were many people in chairs looking in her direction. Buff men with giant swords. Pretty Ladies with staffs. Knights covered in heavy armor. There are so many types of people here. But it was easy to see that there were no non-humans here.
Arriving at the desk there was a woman waiting. "Hello, i don't recognize you, are you here from another guild or to register? If to register please hand me your identity card"
"Oh I'm here to register please." Eve said, handing in the temporary card.
"Okay, I'll sign you up now. It should take just a bit to make you a guild badge." The woman walked back to a magic machine. It looked as if it was scanning the card. As it slowly started to make a badge of bronze. "Here you go. This is a bronze adventurers badge. Your rank is F since you're just starting out. As you complete quests points will automatically be added. If you get enough points you'll rank up and the badge will upgrade itself to show that. B rank and up all have special requirements to do before you can get to them or else everyone would be S rank if they did enough quests." She said with a chuckle. "If you go to that board over there you'll see all the quests that have been given to this guild. Just show me what quest you want and you can be on your way."
"Alright, thank you." Eve said a bit cheerfully. "Time to get some more units." She said with a smile. Walking over to the board many quests were posted. some even overlapped. There were so many. Taking a look at all the quests one caught her eyes. Ripping it off the board she went back to the lady at the desk giving her the paper. "I'd like to take this one please."
She grabbed the paper reading it. "Kobold Subjugation huh? I'll sign off on it. But this is the highest difficulty for your rank so you may want to rethink. But if you're sure then I'll let you. For subjugation quests like this you'll need to bring proof back, in this case fangs or ears should do." She had a slight bit of worry on her face.
"It's okay, I'm prepared."
The lady nodded and signed off on the paper, handing it back. "The info you need should be on that paper. Also my name is Abby. Make sure to get back safe." She said with a smile.

Eve nodded a sigh of relief. "I'm glad it wasn't one of those manga cliches where I'd get hit on by some weird guild guy." Looking at the paper there were directions leading to the cave of Kobolds.
.
Arriving at the cave only took about half an hour and then she arrived. A dark large cave. Waking in was hard to see but she had prepared some makeshift torches beforehand.
"System, is this a dungeon or a normal cave?"
[This appears to be a regular cave. Most dungeons have a door entrance. It's rare for a dungeon to appear in a cave.]
Eve nodded, continuing her venture into the cave going deeper and deeper in. Until she heard some noises. It sounded like animals walking around and making noises as if they were speaking.
Putting the torch in her inventory she followed the noises until she found a room dimly lit with torches and a crowd of Kobolds inside. Red scaly skin with a tail. They looked almost like lizards
"Hunting ground found. System, is there a big power difference in strength between Goblins and Kobolds?"
[There is a slight difference. 1 Kobald could win a fight against 2, maybe 3 goblins. But Kobolds have less intelligence but are also very cunning. They fight in groups which can make them difficult. But at your strength they should be nothing to you.]
"I'll believe your word." Walking into the crowd she caught the attention of all the Kobolds as she drew her sword. "Heavenly Demons Sword Style!" The skill taking over her body was as if she was dancing carefully. The weak Kobolds were barely able to defend against her sword. In less than a few minutes their heads rolled.
"You were right. It's almost disappointing how easy it was. I haven't had a challenge since I fought the great lion."
[You now have 14 Kobold souls. Congratulations Eve.]
"Nice 14 isn't bad at all. I guess I should head deeper in for now."
Heading in deeper Eve began hunting any Kobolds she came across. Not even paying attention to how many after sometime until she finally left the cave.
Stretching Eve looked at the sky. It had already become night time as she spent all day in the cave.
"How many Kobold souls did I collect today?"
[You collected 74 Kobold souls while clearing out the entirety of the cave.]
"Nice! I should head back to the guild hall. I need the rewards and look for a place to stay." Eve said while yawning.
.
Arriving back at the guild hall she went back to the counter. A different girl was there this time.
"Hello my name is Lily. What can I do for you today?"
"Hello, I'd like to officially complete my quest." Eve said, handing the paper over to the girl. Along with a bag of Kobold Ears.
"Of course. Just give me a second, and please give me your guild badge."
Eve nodded and handed her badge over. Walking over Lily put it on the same machine it had been created from along with the paper. As the paper began to turn into lights and go into the badge.
"Okay here you go. Your quest completion info is now in your badge. How many Kobold ears would you say are here?"
"About 74."
"Alr- ...Can you please repeat yourself I think I heard wrong."
"Oh sorry. I said 74 Kobold ears." Eve said again a bit louder.
The lady looked around frantically for a second before grabbing the bag and putting them on the machine.
[74 Kobold ears.] A page appearing over the bag read. "This is a machine that cant get anything wrong, there really are 74 Kobold ears in there!" Lily thought to herself in shock.
"That machine can do a lot of stuff huh." Eve thought to herself.
"Uh um Uhhh." Lily didn't seem to know what to say.
"Is everything alright? If so I'd like to have my reward please." Eve said, smiling. Ambiguous to the situation.
What Eve didn't know. Was that in all the years of the guild being open. There has never been an F rank adventurer to Kill this many Kobolds. In just one day at that. This was unprecedented!
"Um, yes here you go." She said handing a pouch over. "The original reward was only 12 copper. But with how many you hunted it's been increased to 2 silvers and 5 copper."
"Thank you!" Eve said, smiling as she turned and walked out of the guild hall.
Snapping out of it Lily ran out of her station and ran into a backroom up a flight of stairs slamming a door open.
"Guild Master! We have a situation!"

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.

Two fox-kin siblings set out to serve a human king, hoping to secure ties with the royals that had formed in times of war. Yet, much is demanded of them as their father's reputation precedes them. What to expect: - cold steel weapons with magic- colonial-esque era- elements of strategy (including logistics)- powerful mages that can't block a crossbow bolt. Except for some earth mages.- realistic depictions of violence. I don't care to focus on it. - other races introduced eventually, if they fit. - Australian english, except when I slip.
