《To Walk The Mist》Baju Valley

Ed looked at the old man's piercing eyes for a second and looked away.
“I only heard of it in passing. Not sure where,” Ed said. How could he explain that that was where he was from, that Those places were home?
“Fine. I will not ask if you don't want to say,” Tie Nse let the matter drop.
“I want to test how many energies you can perceive before I give you this technique. Do you want it now?” he said slyly. Ed nodded and Tie Nse's smile widened.
“Good! Then it is time you accept me as your master,” he said and Ed stared at him blankly.
“What? It's simple, you bow to me and say master teach me,“ Tie Nse instructed as he saw Ed's unmoved face.
“You really are an old pervert,” Ed said.
“What? You don't want the technique?” Tie Nse said loudly with his palm cupped around his ear, acting as though he could not hear what Ed said. Ed sighed and made a stiff bow while sitting.
“Old Pervert, teach me,” he said and Tie Nse nodded his head proudly before he registered Ed's words and paused.
“How is that even a bow? Say, master. That is the official ceremony for taking a master,” Tie Nse fumed as he instructed Ed.
“This is as far as my waist bends. This is all I’m offering, do you want it?” Ed said and Tie Nse frowned.
“Fine I’ll take it...wait, you are talking as though you are selling me something. This is why I don't take in disciples. This younger generation talk is too tiring,” Tie Nse complained.
“So, what now?” Ed asked.
“Come closer, give me your hand. Let me test how many energies you are absorbing at a time,” he said and Ed did as told. Tie Nse's placed two fingers on Ed's wrist and sent a wave of energy from his core into Ed. The energy felt like a warm hug and a sharp knife as it passed through Ed. This feeling was very comfortable and prickly at the same time.

Narrowing his eyes, Tie Nse withdrew his hand with a frown. He looked into Ed's expectant eyes in shock.
“I feel four energies within you. How is this even possible?” he said.
“Is that good?” Ed asked with a frown.
“Good? One cannot really say. Impossible? Even more so,”
“Speak clearly. Does this mean the technique will not work?”
“It will, but boy, what you can do, should not be possible. It is rare that two energies could flow within one person. Usually when that occurs, one of the energies eats the other out or the person dies. I assumed if you have stayed this long in this state, without any of these two things happening, then you must have a jade body. That is why I took you as my disciple,”
“Jade body?” Ed asked.
“This is a type of body created when one has reincarnated 36 times in the same region. The person becomes almost indestructible. Even countering energies on the skin would not do anything to him,”
“But I am not,” Ed said. He was sure of where he was from. There was no way he had reincarnated 36 times.
“I cannot feel it from you. You must not be one. But looking at the energies in your core, they are existing without eating each other out, without conflict. This is impossible,” Tie Nse said solemnly.
“Then, what?” Ed asked.
“Well, this is new for me. I'd even swear that this is new for everyone. The first thing I want to see is if you will survive your spirit picking. If you do, then we will see,”
“You sound as if you are sure I will not,” Ed frowned.
“Forgive me boy, but you are cancelling the basis upon which the metaphysical exist. The laws of the metaphysical insist that you will not survive this,”

“Since all these laws bear no resemblance to me, it means the outcomes are so too. I will not die, not here,” Ed said confidently.
“Fine. First of all, we must make sure that you can survive the pain of a spirit picking of multiple energies. Before I give you this technique, you must train. Come,” Tie Nse grabbed Ed and they vanished.
When they appeared, Ed found himself in a forest. He was not quite sure this was the same one they were in.
“This is Baju valley,” Tie Nse said and Ed turned to look at him. He could hear howling from afar.
“This is where the entire Ohm realm sends the worst criminals,” Tie Nse said solemnly,” no one can enter and leave as he likes. Even me. Appearing here is only possible because I have a key,” his words caused Ed to frown darkly.
“Are you trying to kill me before I even do my spirit picking?”
“Don't worry, there is no criminal here at the moment. Everyone dies within the first night. Even though you are at the soul awakening stage to the highest cultivation. No one can survive here,”
“Exactly my point,” Ed hissed.
“You must reach the other side of the valley. There, an inn sits. I will be waiting there,” Tie Nse said and vanished. Ed wished he could drag the old pervert back and skin him alive.
“Never take strangers as your master, Ed,” he whispered to himself in anger, looking around the dark and eerie forest. He suddenly felt as though he was being watched.

Shadow under Plato
King’s College has a reputation. To Leo, the sharp but cynical rebel, it is a place where the people he cares about are sentenced to a fate worse than death—to live the rest of their days on the surface of a dying Earth. To Morgan, the bright and strict overachiever, it is a vault in which she may find her dreams. And for the brightest six students of King’s College, even greater opportunities reside in the legendary Class Euripides; a class which she will fight for a seat at with all her wits and will. And to Lumia, the newly Ascended girl whose smile never fades, King’s College is a terrifying puzzle just like everything else in the floating city of Plato, the last bastion of humanity. As the class of 311 commences a grueling year of study and elaborately devious tests, none of the bright-eyed students could have anticipated the weight of expectation laid upon their shoulders. After all, a student’s hopes and dreams mean little in the fight against an ever-collapsing climate. For the Educators of King’s College offer only one lesson to their future students, to the future of a dying world: Burn bright.

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
