Everyone walked forward quietly.

Suddenly, an insect-like creature drops from the ceiling onto the young man's face. It's scythe-like arms plunges into the man's neck, and before he could let out a scream his body dropped onto the ground lifelessly.

The insect-like creature, delighted by the food, decided to take a quick bite before taking care of the others. Darren shakes himself awake from his wide-eyed shock and rushes forward. Before the insect-like creature could think, Darren had lifted his leg and put all his strength into a heavy stomp, on the creature’s face.

Darren’s foot indented itself onto the creature, broke part of it’s shell, and moved some of its insides around. But it still looked to be alive, so Darren didn’t hesitate. Driven by panic and an instinctive desire to protect his own life, he continued to stomp repeatedly at the creatures face.

The creature lashed out with its arm and cut into Darren’s leg. Luckily, it hit Darren’s tibia on his leg, and his bone stopped the scythe-like arm from piercing deeper. Darren didn’t stop and eventually the hard shell covering its face broke apart; he had managed to crush the creature’s brain.

Taylor’s eyes widen at the unexpected voice and he looks around the cave. “Did you guys hear that?” He asks the others.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” The young lady says with heavy breaths as she tries to calm her beating heart. She does a quick scan around the room, looking for more of those ugly bug creatures before letting out a sigh of relief. “C’mon. Let’s get the fuck out of here before more of those things show up.” She says before sprinting forward.

Darren also lets out a breath to try and release the tension before giving up and running after the lady as adrenaline builds inside of him.

“Fuck.” The other student exclaims before following.

“Why are you kids running so fast? Slow down!” The older lady says before running after them as she holds her purse close.

Suddenly, Darren slows down.

The young lady raises an eyebrow and stops. “What is it?” She asks with worry.

“I think I hear something.” Darren says as he stops to listen.

The others caught up and also stop.

The young lady opens her eyes wide. “Fuck, I hear it too.” She says as she points her phone flashlight to the distance. There were two of those creatures following them. “Fuck.” She exclaims before hearing something else and moving the flashlight. There were three more creatures ahead of them. “Fuck!” She yells before turning to Darren. “Hey, stomper-boy. It’s your time to shine.” She says as she positions herself behind Darren.

Darren smiles bitterly. “We’re going to die here.” He says, accepting his fate.

*BANG*

One of the creatures’ head is shot and it drops to the ground.

The older lady was standing there, holding up a smoking gun in her hand. She promptly ignored the voice and shot again.

*BANG*

Another creature’s head is hit, ending its life.

Darren heard a clinking sound and his eyes open wide. Is that a dagger? He asks himself. But there wasn’t too much time to think about it. He quickly rushed forward.

“Hey! Don’t leave the damsel in distress!” The young lady says before quickly moving behind the older lady. “You’ll protect me, right, Miss?” She says with a higher tone of voice, trying to sound cute.

“I’m not your mom, kid. And this thing only has six rounds; there’s four now. I’m not sure it will be enough to get us out of the cave.” She says with a grim face.

It is a dagger! Darren exclaims as he picks it up and rushes back to the group.

“What’s that?” The other school kid asks.

“It’s a dagger. It dropped from one of the creatures.” Darren says.

The other kid’s eyes widen. “Damn. This ain’t no cave, folks. It’s a dungeon. We’re in effin’ rpg!” He exclaims with shock.

“Shut up. They’re coming.” The older lady says before taking another shot.

*BANG*

The lady’s aim was superb and another creature’s head was punctured. But the other two creatures didn’t wait around. They quickly rushed forward, becoming faster than most men were capable of.

“Shit.” Darren says as he moves forward to meet one of the creatures. Unfortunately, he was one of the few people here with a weapon.

Darren didn’t exactly know how to fight, especially against one of these creatures, so he rushed in expecting to get hit. He shielded his body with his arms and ignored his head as the creature’s weren’t that tall, and rushed in beforr once again letting out a kick.

The creature slashes out, and like previously, it’s blade-like arm was stopped at the bone. But unfortunately it was the femur, and this time, it cut into a lot of flesh to get there.

Darren ignores it and kicks anyway, forcing the creature into air before it rolls onto the ground. Darren forces himself to keep moving and rushes ahead before plunging the dagger into the creature’s head.

The other creature had sped past and pounced onto the other school kid and dug its arms into his back like some gruesome form of a hug. The older lady quickly positions herself and lets out another shot.
