General De Grandis and his men continued to explore the deserted village. Some soldiers traveled in groups while others dispersed and separated from their platoon. One such soldier, specialist Zorn went into one of the damaged homes to make sure there wasn’t anyone inside that they would miss. With his weapon in hand, he carefully looked under beds and closets but found no trace of anyone. From the floor, a Lurker emerged watching Zorn looking around the room. It spots Zorn’s shadow and merged itself into Zorn’s shadow to remain hidden waiting patiently for the moment to make its move. Zorn couldn’t help but get the feeling that someone was here with him. Sweat rolls down his face with anticipation trying to ignore the nagging feeling of being watched.
Unable to handle the pressure, he decided it was time to leave and fast. Just as Zorn turned around, he is face to face with the Lurker as it emerged from his shadow looming over Zorn with its deadly stare. Zorn, frozen in fear, can’t help but look at this unknown creature. Suddenly, Zorn began to feel immense pain come over his chest; “a heart attack?” He thought to himself. Zorn placed his hand over his chest to feel a sharp blade from the creature that went through his chest. Realizing he was pierced; he then could feel the blood coming up from his throat pooling out his mouth, his body starting to feel cold as his life was fading. As he began to black out, the lurker then liquifies itself and enters Zorn’s body through his wound talking control of Zorn’s body. Once the merge was complete the Lurker left the abandoned home only to bump into another soldier.
"Any civilians?" The soldier asked.
"No, there was no one inside." The Zorn Lurker replied.
The soldier looked over Zorn and noticed something odd about him. He noticed Zorn had an odd pale like complexion with dried up blood from the corner of his mouth.
"You have blood by your mouth soldier." The soldier asked
The Zorn Lurker panics as he quickly wipes the dried-up blood on the side of his mouth. The soldier noticed Zorn’s wound in his chest and quickly armed himself aiming his weapon at Zorn. Zorn stopped cleaning his face and raised his hands looking at the soldier puzzled to what is going on.
"Why are you aiming you weapon at me?" Zorn asked innocently.
"Shut up and keep your hands up!" The soldier shouted. "Zorn how did you get that wound on your chest?"
The Zorn Lurker coldly looked at the soldier and realized his cover would be blown if he couldn’t come up with something to convince him. As he tried to come up with an answer, not too far from them Zorn noticed another Lurker silently approaching them. Confident, Zorn looked at the soldier with disgust and put his hands back down, the soldier is puzzled as to why Zorn has become confident. He tried to intimidate him cocking his rifle ready to shoot and by poked him on the chest with it.
"Keep your hands up soldier!" He yelled. "Or I will be forced to shoot you!"
"Go ahead." Zorn said confidently as he pressed his chest against the barrel of the rifle. "It’ll be the last thing you’ll do."
The soldier was hesitant at first but chose to comply. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, he then heard a hissing noise behind him. Unsure of what it was, he quickly looked back only to discover a Lurker staring back at him. Before the soldier could react, the Lurker slits the soldier’s throat at the carotid artery cause massive amounts of blood to pool out from his neck. The soldier gasped for air as he collapsed to the ground; both Zorn and the Lurker watched as the life went out of the soldier.

"He’s all yours." Zorn told the Lurker.
The Lurker entered the body of the fallen soldier and took control. He stood up and looked at Zorn who smiled at him glad that his fellow lurker has obtained a body. Soon other Lurkers emerged from their hidden spots as they too wanted bodies to control; the Lurker possessed soldiers looked at their fellow Lurkers then at each other as they knew what needed to be done.
"Time to make more like us." Spoke the Lurker soldier.
"Affirmative." Zorn replied.
The two left the area looking for more soldiers to slaughter and the rest of the Lurkers followed behind.
Mike and his friends cornered Kevin and Johnny, Kevin puts the gemstone into the inner pockets of his jacket; Mike approached Kevin up to his face, Kevin wasn’t intimidated by Mike and stood his ground.
"This whole time you kept your little secret from everybody, but tonight, at the race, I saw it." Mike slurred. He looked at Johnny.
"You’re his friend, right?" Mike asked. "Which means you knew too, and you didn’t turn him in?"
Johnny looked down, thinking about what Mike said. He began to feel guilty wondering if Mike was right about not turning Kevin in. Kevin glanced at his friend and noticed Johnny was thinking about what Mike said. He knew Stewart warned him not to trust anyone but despite all that, deep down, he felt Johnny was still his best friend.
"You’re drunk Mike." Kevin replied. "You need to go home."
"You were there at the school, you saw what that other kid did." Mike continued ignoring Kevin as he approached Johnny. "Think about what Riley could do to us if we let him walk around here like he’s human. He’s a half-breed, we need to turn him in."
"Johnny, you can go home." Kevin instructed. "You don’t have to stay here."
"This wasn’t supposed to be this way." Johnny sadly replied.
Everyone looked at Johnny, who looked nervous. He took the device Reynolds gave him from out of his jacket pocket revealing it to everybody.
"Johnny, what is that?" Kevin asked.
"If I press this, the Advant guard will come." Johnny reluctantly said. "If I turn you in, my family and I can leave this place. I-I’m sorry Kev."
Kevin looked at Johnny surprised to what he heard; Mike smiled as he walked back to Kevin.
"See guys, his friend was going to betray him, and Riley hasn’t denied what he is." Mike said as he grabbed Kevin by the collar of his shirt. "Press the button Johnny and sic the Advant Guard on him. I hope they dissect you, chop you to pieces and put you in a blender."
Angry, Kevin pushed Mike off him; Mike stumbled due to his inebriated state. He looked at his friends who remained in their spot unsure what was going on. They weren’t sure if Mike was telling the truth or if he’s just drunk and spouting things. Mike straightened up and looked at his friends as they stood there.
"What the hell morons, help me out!" Mike yelled.
His friends trusted Mike and began to approach Kevin as Johnny stood and watched.
Meanwhile back at the headquarters of the advent guard in the lab where Stewart and the other three were held, the scientist continued to monitor the four making sure that the future was on track. Unknown to them, Stewart was slowing regaining consciousness. Knowing where he was at and what was going on, Stewart knew he needed to correct the reality that was made. With the help of the other three, Stewart began to shift the reality’s projection to something different. Unknown to the scientists, the vision on the holo screen was showing Kevin captured by the Advant guard, but the vision then changes where Kevin is in a storm hanging with his life on the line at the edge of a cliff. The vision then continued to loop as Stewart prevented the future from being seen.

Kevin stood prepared to fight as Mike and his friends moved in closer ready to attack. Johnny stood unsure of what to do. He looked at Kevin who was about to be attacked but then he looked at the device Reynolds gave him debating on whether to press the button.
"Press the button Johnny, now!" Ordered Mike.
Johnny heard but still hesitated, as this moment could destroy the friendship he has with Kevin. Mike noticed his hesitation and heads over to Johnny.
"Damn it, give me the device if you’re too scared to press it." Said Mike.
Kevin goes after Mike as he tackled him to the ground. The two began to wrestle on the ground as Mike tried to reach Johnny and Kevin struggling to keep Mike from going after him.
"Get that device!" Mike ordered.
His friends responded as they go after Johnny. Not wanting Johnny to get hurt, Kevin punched Mike stunning him which gave Kevin the opportunity to go after his friends. Kevin grabbed one of Mike’s friends and punched him. The other two looked back to see their friend knocked out by Kevin. Kevin maneuvered his way through and stood in front of Johnny protecting him. Johnny looked at Kevin confused to what he’s doing.
"Bruh, what are you doing?" Johnny asked.
"I told you to leave Johnny, go." Kevin pleaded.
"Dude, I was going to betray you, you ain’t mad?" Johnny asked.
"Whatever happens, you still my bro, got it." Kevin replied.
The two of Mike’s friends attack Kevin at once, Kevin deflects and blocks their attacks. While in the back of his mind grateful for the martial arts classes he took all those years. Kevin was distracted by the two as he didn’t notice Mike was coming around for Johnny who was about to escape. Johnny sees him and tried to dodge but Mike grabbed a part of the device and started pulling, Johnny was pulling too trying to keep it out of Mike’s hands.
"No, let go!" Yelled Johnny.
Kevin heard Johnny’s voice. Distracted, he looked back only to be tackled by all of Mike’s friends who pin him to the ground. Mike punched Johnny in the got hard enough to knock the wind out of him. He lets go of the device as he falls on his knees gasping for air. Mike laughed as he has a hold of the device. Up in the sky, it began to darken as a storm started to set in. The peels of thunder and lightning filled the sky. Mike holds the device in front of everybody as he prepares to press it.
"Got ya now, Seirei Jin Freak." Mike Chuckled.
He pressed the button which started the signal to contact the Advant Guard. Once they received the device’s beacon, the soldiers were already prepared and started their way to the woods where Kevin was held by the Mike’s friends. Kevin struggled to break free but with the three on top, Kevin was unable to move. Mike turned to Johnny who was beginning to regain his breathing. Without a warning, Mike kicks Johnny hard in the stomach knocking him to the ground.
"As for you, I’ll make sure you and your family are sentenced for harboring a half-breed." Bragged Mike.
Mike then started beating Johnny up, Kevin felt helpless as he watched his friend getting beaten by Mike. He felt he needed to do something. Enraged by what he was seeing, all Kevin could think about was the power and strength to save his Johnny. Suddenly Kevin’s reiki energy begins to build within him. Kevin’s eye with the birthmark begins to glow, electric sparks began to ignite around Kevin. Mike’s friends could feel the electrical vibrations surge through them but were not sure where it was coming from. Kevin’s aura shined brightly catching Mike and Johnny’s attention. They watched as like a match, the Kevin’s spark ignited and became flames of energy.
"Enough!" Yelled Kevin
Fueled by Kevin’s anger, he released his energy at Mike’s friends which sent them flying in separate directions. Surrounded by blue arua, Kevin stands up and walks towards his fallen friend. Mike was stunned by Kevin’s move as he has never seen Kevin’s power like that before. As Kevin approached his friend, Mike stepped back in case Kevin would attack him too. Kevin goes down on one knee helping Johnny to sit up as he was bruised, injured and almost unconscious from the injuries. The gemstone hidden in Kevin’s inner pocket sensed Kevin using his reiki energy, the Celtic like markings appeared once again to remove his reiki powers. The light from Kevin’s eyes and the celtic markings faded. Not too far from them were the sounds of a helicopter and vehicles approaching their location as the Advant Guard were coming in close.
"Johnny, stay awake man." Kevin pleading as he gently continued to shake him to stay up.
Knowing that he will lose consciousness soon, he looked at Kevin and tried to speak but was too weak to make a sound. Kevin realized and moved in closer to hear what he was trying to say.
"R-run." Johnny whispered.
Kevin looked at Johnny surprised that he wanted him to leave.
"Johnny, I can’t leave you here." Kevin said as tears began to well up in his eyes as he knew he had to leave but not without Johnny.
With little strength he had, he reached into his pocket and took out the keys to his motorcycle. With the keys in hand, he raised it towards Kevin, Kevin grabbed it as they both stared at each other.
"W-whatever happens, y-you still my bro." Johnny whispered. "Now go."
Kevin nodded in agreement and laid Johnny back down only for him to go unconscious. Kevin stood up and looked around. Up in the sky the storm arrived, rain began to come fall. In the woods ahead he started seeing flashlight moving around as they were drawing near their location. Without a moment to lose Kevin heads back to Johnny’s bike. Mike watched and realized Kevin was trying to escape, and follows after him.
"No use running half-breed, they’re here and they’ll catch you!" Mike yelled still following from behind.
Ignoring Mike’s threats, Kevin maneuvered around the woods hiding in bushes and behind trees avoiding the Advant Guard who were heading to the location of the device. Kevin was home free as he spotted Johnny’s bike alone and not surrounded by vehicles from the Advant Guard. Mike realized Kevin was escaping unnoticed, he ran into a group of the guards to get their attention.
"Look! The Half breed is escaping on that motorcycle hurry!" Mike warned the guards as he pointed to where Kevin was heading.
The guards turned around to see Kevin has reached Johnny’s bike, with helmet in place, starting up the bike. They ran after Kevin trying to stop him before he left, but they were to far to reach him. Mike ran to his bike and chose to continue the chase to stop Kevin. One of the guards used his radio to contact HQ into the scientist lab where Stewart and the other Class A psychic half breeds were.
"Attention, the suspect Riley has escaped, I repeat, the suspect Riley has escaped." Reported the guard.

Dragon Knight Prophecy
A hero, a dragon, and a love that breaks all bounds. A fantasy story of a man trying to save his homeland from a terrible war by completing a prophecy nobody fully understands. To complete his mission he needs a dragon but the road to the dragon’s lair goes horribly wrong, and when he finally faces the beast he stands alone. A deeply emotional story that deals with pain, regret, betrayal, and failure. Despite it all somehow our heroes discover they need each other and slowly come together. With the help of some dedicated friends they realize their love is special, and go on to forge a new world befitting their unusual union. If you like dragons, romance, a little magic and a lot of war this might be for you. This story eventually evolves into a very loving harem, where the women rely on and love one another just as much as they love our hero. Please note: I am an amateur writer who started this story as a form of therapy while my wife was teetering on the brink of death. Thankfully she survived but by that point I was so committed to telling this story I couldn’t stop. I learned a great deal about writing over time but I am afraid my early chapters were very rough. I have since gone back and begun to edit them, applying the lessons learned and cleaning them up. I hope you will still enjoy the story, as I love sharing it and I can’t imagine a better use of my time. Sexual content.. In seven books I have written two sex scenes, but one of them will be highly edited once I reach them with my rewrite. Overall I imply our characters are sharing their love but don't go into any great detail as to how. So if sexual content bothers you, it is only lightly touched on twice. 8 351My Sister is the Grim Reaper
Benimaru always wanted a sister, and he loved Charlie more than anything. However, she has her quirks like the weird boundaries she has or lack thereof. She was extravagant, an open book, and lost on some social conventions that seemed pretty standard. The book closes when it comes to what Charlie does for a living, a topic she avoids like the plague. It seems time-consuming and dangerous, but Benimaru learned not to question it too much, largely because he had other things to worry about.Graduating community college, getting into Vermillion University with his best friend Aaron, and reminding everyone that he and Aaron are JUST best friends and have been for a long time.Aaron providing fan service to the girls in town doesn’t help their cause. Benimaru doesn’t understand why Aaron feels the need to tease him and the fangirls like that, but maybe it’ll all settle down when they move in with Charlie and start a new chapter in their lives at Vermillion University... Right?
8 107The Man Who Walked in the Dark
Just because it can be found, doesn't mean it should. All things found, all things fixed. Jude Demarco was the best private detective Nicodemia Station had ever ignored. Detective, handyman, medic. He was a bulldog who tracked down every lead and wouldn't let go until the bloody truth died dripping in his jaws. Even if someone got hurt. Even if someone got killed. You lost it? He can find it. When a collector arrives in a private cruiser from Earth looking for a stolen painting, Demarco has to decide if a few dimes are worth dealing with the worst of the worst in Nicodemia Station. It'll pit him against crime lords, government bureaucrats, and, even worse, the Catholic Church. If there's anything folks get too passionate about, it's art and religion. No sane person would take a job that mixed the two. Then again, sometimes a person just gets desperate.
8 123Why Just Not, Like, Kill All the Zombies?
If they're so easy to kill, why just not, like, kill all the zombies? It's even mathematically possible to clean an entire town of tens of thousands of undead in a single year! Warning: this story contain incest.
8 133The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
