《Your Class Teacher》CHAPTER 55: Curaraton's Household

Within the Curaraton household, Isabella Curaraton, Zeus' mother, was now doing her business online by reading some paperwork on her laptop. She's so devoted to her workplace, practically to her room, that everything in the house is dark since she kept forgetting to switch on the lights for the reason that she's too tied up with her work.
Inside her room stood a little area where she had to do her job. A desk and a matching chair would suffice. A modest workplace may be built with anything as simple as that. A humble mother, and a worker at the same time, despite working at home, she still dress professionally, just as she did when she worked at her typical employment. In this manner, she may feel as though she's in her workplace, which is in their company building.
Not so long before getting onto the next page of the document she's been analyzing and finalizing, she heard a sound of a shutting door in their house's front door which made her pause for a moment. Despite being inside the room, she heard it. Gasping, she then looked at the clock and realized it may be Zeus who had just arrived home.
"Ma? I'm home," the voice of her son, Zeus, coming from their entrance.
Zeus then realized the darkness of their house. No sense of light, no glimpse of path or anything, just pure darkness. Accidentally, a memory of the time when he entered that home days ago when he got stabbed flashed before his eyes. It's making him recall everything that the memory buried in his mind. That was the first time he's been stabbed after all.
In his case when he got stabbed and rushed to the hospital days ago, his mother was crazily worried about him that she rushed to the hospital as well. Luckily, Mr. Travis pulled off the bar when Zeus's mother asked what happened to her son. Travis was well aware that Zeus's mother, Isabella, had no idea her son was a thief. To escape from the difficulties of reasoning out, Travis lied to her and said that her kid was stabbed for helping an elderly lady against a group of thugs. It was undoubtedly a fake report but Zeus' mother brought it.
"Son!" Isabella ran out to her room and rushed after her son despite the irking darkness. "Oh! My son!"
Turning on the lights, Zeus felt relieved that he could see everything now. The sofa, the living room, their kitchen, it's all visible now to his eyes. Good thing his mother didn't know about him being a thief. And the fact that he's all over the news for being the "skilled" thief was yet far from being a professional for him. Luckily, the residents he used to rob didn't file any case against him despite him showing his face. What could be the reason? Is this their so-called "calm before the storm"?

He was so preoccupied with what he had just remembered in his head that he had no idea his mother was now fiercely squeezing him. He's so fortunate that all he has now is his mother. His mother's life had become much busier after his father's death, but at least she had more time with him. Zeus then questioned why his mother had suddenly lavished him with even more attention than before. Was this due to remorse over not being able to spend more time with her son when her husband was still yet alive? Or was it just her sense of urgency to do so? Whatever may be the reason, Zeus still felt relieved. He couldn't complain anymore since his mother's the only blood relative he's close with.
Smiling, Zeus responded, "Hi, Ma," and he kissed her forehead.
"How was school? Everything's fine, right?" Isabella smiled as she assisted her son waygoing their living room.
Isabella might be also wondering why she was now devoting more time to her son. Perhaps it truly was due to guilt. Work was everything and nothing else to her. Nothing more, nothing less. Business here, business there, clients here, clients there. However, when her spouse died, she blamed herself for it. She carved it into the stone and swore in her life that she would do whatever it takes to make amends for her son. What a pity. She must have been so devastated by what occurred that she transformed herself to compensate.
"Yeah, although my stomach still kinda hurts," Zeus sat down on their sofa and sighed, feeling relieved for being at home in peace, "Anyways, I'm fine. How about you? How was your business?"
"Oh, I got a lot of inquiries today, son." His mother's just standing up while conversing with her son excitedly, "And you? What happened to school today? Your friends were glad to see you, right?"
"Yeah, they welcomed me very well. And by the way, our classroom has just been renovated. Can you believe that?"
She put her hands on her waist. "Your classroom? Wait, how? I thought the school is so strict about your section."
"Yeah, our class teacher did it. He didn't even inform us that he would renew everything. We're not informed. Even our walls, field, chairs, everything. Just everything. They look so new and luxurious."
"Wow. Wait, but how come? Your school must have done it, right?"
"Our teacher doesn't belong to the school, Ma. He said that himself. He just showed up out of nowhere... without informing anyone. Even the school's ex-President didn't know he was assigned to our class. It's so unusual, Ma."

"Oh, is that so, son?" his mother came closer to the wall and leaned there while crossing her arms, "Hmm. That seems so suspicious. Your school is so strict to the point that in your classroom, even parents like me are not allowed to set a foot in there. I don't have any updates from the school as well."
"Yeah. That school's full of crap," Zeus slowly unbuttoned his polo uniform.
"Well, for me, that's a good thing. I eagerly want to get you out of that school, son. But the school won't allow me to."
"Don't worry, Ma." After taking it off, he put it above their sofa and just left it there. "I don't also plan on transferring... or going out. It's better to be in that classroom. I feel safe there." He's now left with only his shirt and pants. That at least he wouldn't feel so hot in their home.
"Okay. If that's what you want, then I will let you. But, son," Isabella sighed, "...it's like you're stuck in a cage. I want you to get out of there at least."
"Ma," he cut her off and looked at her with his fierce eyes. Isabella just stopped and opened her ears for him.
No matter where he would go, the school will do its best to spy on them. It's not like once they're out of there, they could find peace. Forever, they'll be underestimated by that school. And besides, he already found peace as to where he belongs to now, the Class 11-5, where fellow teenagers like him lived being mocked and degraded. At least, for him, they're happy and contented with just being all together.
"It's fine. No need to worry about me. You should also take care of yourself too, Ma. I know it's been tough."
And by that, his mother grinned and was in tears of joy. She realized her son was all grown up now. She knew that Zeus was long ago matured but the fact that he's concerned with others is part of him growing up mentally.
Zeus was a heartless person before except for his father and friends, he treated them equally and well. But when his father died, he became senseless and was so hard to reach out to. But at least, there's part of him that Isabella's so proud with. Being able to mind others than himself, people taking care of him, and still be able to smile. Maybe that's because of that classroom. Well then, what a lucky sight. His mother's been chuckling as she leaned against the wall.
"Why do you look so happy? Did something happen?" Zeus was suspicious of his mother's unending beam.
"Son," Isabella stopped grinning from ear to ear and just softly curved her mouth slightly upward, "...how would you feel if I'd run my business again?"
"Aren't you operating it now? I mean, your business?"
"What I meant was my old business, son. I want to recover it right away. Ever since my company got bankrupt, I've lost a lot of shares, and employees. The company ceases all activities and goes out of business and eventually is now dead. And I've been receiving death threats by my employees because they were being chased by loan sha---"
Zeus snapped at the words "death threats" and unknowingly stood up, clenching a fist as if he was so eager to punch someone. "Death threats?! Who sent you that?! Where are they? I will protect you, Ma!" Rushing toward his mother, he covered her like he was some kind of bodyguard, and glanced from side to side to look around for suspicious people when in fact, it was just the two of them inside their house.
"Son, listen to me first. Calm down, okay?" Isabella, who's behind Zeus, sighed and tapped her son's back three times to calm him down.
"But, Ma." He was so worried just by the look in his eyes.
"Sit down, son."
He then didn't hesitate to hurry and sit back down on the sofa.
His mother avidly declared, "Recently, I opened my bank account. And guess what, son?"
"W-What?" Zeus was so nervous that he thought, "What is this? Is mother gonna leave me? Is that it? Is she planning on abandoning me after all this time? Is that why she's smiling? Maybe that's not it? So why is she smiling so bad? Is there good news perhaps?"
"Suddenly," A long pause was made before she impatiently continued, "Someone sent me 203 billion dollars!"
Before it was processed on Zeus' mind, he was relieved that he was not getting abandoned. But...
"203? Billion? US Dollars?"
...it left him at loss for words.

A Nation of Distances (possibly a dystopian love story)
Michael lives in a toxic macho world with extreme male hierarchy. When he gets a weird rating that makes his place even more problematic he's forced to choose a fiancée at a Wife School, and he slowly discovers more about the other side of the great divide between the sexes in The Nation. If only the world would stop being so complicated... On the other side there's Megan, who's more interested in books than in marriage, and the unpredictable Eliza who seems to have a connection with Micheal already. Will they be able to cross the distance and become friends against all the rules of their own world, or will they just be crushed? Are positive relationships between men and women even possible? And is there a way to change the world or is that just a naive thought of a silly wimp? 'A Nation of Distances' is a slightly dystopian dialogue-heavy drama set in a low sci-fi future setting about the war between the sexes, disconnect and friendship. The genre will fluctuate in between more slice-of-life parts and soft sci-fi drama with possible romantic elements, with alternating lead and switching perspectives once more of the main characters are established. Content Warning: Certain concepts and scenes might be disturbing and/or triggering to some, even though the story itself won't be extremely heavy most of the time. Sexism as a double-edged sword destructive to both sexes is an important part of the story, but so is friendship.Note that all descriptions of persons and places are purely fictional and made up by the writer, and any resemblance with anything in the real world is a coincidence, since the real world is not supposed to be dystopian anyway!
