《Blue Road》Episode 9 (Part 4)

Richard’s clothes evaporated as his body had transformed back into a blue, blob-like structure. He noticed the flashlight from the corner of his eyes. He darted around the area, hoping to find a place to hide. The first place that caught his eye was a large dumpster. Richard gulped and dove headfirst into the trash and closed the lid.

The officers kicked down the door and stormed across the area. Richard’s heart pounded across his chest as he covered his mouth to stop the loud breathing. He peeked his head out, only to find Rick and Jim still present in the area. After a while, Rick and Jim walked away, thinking the blob didn’t get too far.

Richard waited for them to go further away before crawling out and dusting himself off.

I need to find Fawn as soon as possible! He dashed in the opposite direction from where the cops were heading.

Richard attempted to sneak away by climbing a nearby building and walking on the edge, but it didn’t take long for him to get spotted. Spotlights shined down on him, stopping him in his tracks. Flashlights from helicopters and police cars leaned over to swarm and surround him once again.

“There you are, stay where you are!” An intercom from the copter exclaimed from above. “Come with us quietly, or we’ll be forced to use drastic measures!”

Are they serious? Richard’s hands gripped. They wouldn’t risk destroying parts of this city, would they? The pressure got to him, unsure what to do now, especially without Fawn’s help.

His first instinct was to leap and land on one of the car hoods, tipping the vehicle off course. He grabbed the two closest vehicles and crushed them together. The officers jumped out before an explosion could occur, blocking their vision.

Richard took this as the opportunity to get away as possible and sprinted. He avoided oncoming traffic by taking to the skies and climbing back on one of the nearby buildings, this time reaching the roof. The helicopter caught up and pointed its light at him. The winds from its blades hit his face as it pushed him back. He squinted his eyes and held his arms up, trying to pry himself from the blinding light and keep his balance from falling off.

Out of the corners of his eyes, Fawn floated there, staring from a far-off distance. He tried calling out to her, but she didn’t respond. Richard had backed himself up into a corner as he pondered over what to do next. He lost his footing and slipped, screaming and falling over a metal fence, the hard ground blocking his impact.

Richard rubbed his head and got up, finding himself stuck in another unknown area. He glanced up as the light pierced over the walls and the noise grew closer. He pressed against the wall, hoping to avoid detection. His body grew transparent as he blended in with the walls, and the helicopter and the others swerved right past him.

Once the coast became clear, Richard got out of his cover and didn’t turn invisible anymore. He sighed in relief and wiped his forehead as Fawn flew over to him.

“That was a close one,” She said. “Sorry I got distracted.”

“Where have you been? I didn’t see you near the tavern.” Richard pointed out. “And why were you spacing out earlier?”

“Well, first of all, I was trying to get info on our target.”

“Target is a weird term, but ok, what did you—?”

“Uh oh.” Fawn interrupted. “I sense some presence.” She glanced at a clang that came from the fences. “I think someone’s climbing over, it’s most likely a police officer!” Fawn whispered. “We need to get out of here! Now!”
