《Blue Road》Episode 8 (Part 1)

Fawn found herself in a small, and confined room with the door locked. She placed her ear near the door and listened in on the noise from the other side. Her eyes widened as the screams didn’t stop and objects kept getting knocked around. She backed herself against the wall and curled up into a ball. Fawn tried to hold back the tears from falling from her face.
Soon, the noise died down as footsteps echoed louder. She held her breath and prayed whatever it was, it wouldn’t come after her. The door handle broke off as the door swung open. There, a tall person approached her, wearing a mask and wielding a spiked bat. Fawn couldn’t tell their gender. She noticed their mouth moving, but couldn’t hear what that person was saying, but had a hunch they spelled trouble.
.-.-.-.
Fawn woke up in a jolt, finding herself back in the motel room safe and sound, for now. She sighed in relief and flew toward the windows. The skies were getting brighter as the sun rose in the air.
“Hey, Richard, wake up!” Fawn went over to push Richard from out of bed.
“No thanks, five- fifty more minutes,” Richard muttered as he snuggled on the mattress.
“That’s not even a real number; you’re going to be late for work!”
“I barely got any sleep though.”
“We’ll miss out on breakfast!” Fawn moved the covers out of bed as Richard shivered and wrapped his arms around his body.
Eventually, he got out of bed and took a warm shower to refresh himself. After that, the two went downstairs to get a small breakfast. On their way to the workplace, Fawn told him about the dream she had the other night.
“That sounds like whoever that was, might be your killer.” Richard deduced.

“Yeah, but as of now, I can only remember their voice and grin.” Fawn pointed out. “I wasn’t able to see their face or recollect what they said. Sorry if it’s not a big help...”
“No, that’s alright. Every bit helps.” He looked up at the inactive tower and scratched his chin. I have an idea of who it might be, but I’ll need more evidence first.
“What are you thinking about?” Fawn asked.
“Oh, it’s nothing. We’re almost there, I’d hate to be late on my second day of work.”
“I’m certain you won’t get fired, maybe in trouble, but nothing too major, I’m sure.”
“Thanks for that.”
.-.-.-.
Richard entered the building and filled out his punch card for work. There, he noticed Kelly working back at the counter, setting up some stacks of paper. However, compared to yesterday, she hadn’t been in a great mood.
“Hey Kelly, how’s it going?” Richard greeted.
“Hi there,” Kelly muttered without looking at him.
“Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I guess I’m fine.” She turned to face him. “You’re Richard, right? Mindy’s expecting you.” She leaned in to continue her work on the desktop. “I’ll let Charlie know you’re here.”
“Alright then.” Richard walked off as he lowered his head.
“What’s the matter with you?” Fawn questioned as he went up the stairs.
“It’s Kelly, she didn’t seem like herself.” Richard crossed his arms and sighed. “I wonder what’s on her—?”
“Keep in mind you’ve known her for less than a day.”
“But she’s treated me nicely before, I want to help her out. And besides, the same could also apply to you since—”
“There you are!” A voice called out from a distance, jolting him from his conversation and stopping him in his tracks.

Richard turned to face Mindy, who stormed over and pointed at him. “You’re late for work, penalty! Minus ten points!” She exclaimed.
He sighed in disbelief. “Of course. Why did I not think you’d do something else?”
“Where were you the other day?”
“Look, I had to leave. It was urgent. You’re not going to fire me for that, are you?”
“No, it’s too soon for that. Even if I wanted to, I can’t.”
“Ooh, does that mean you’ve grown a soft spot for me?” Richard teased.
“No!” Mindy stepped back and stuck up her nose. “It’s just the boss wouldn’t ever bring himself to do that to his employers.” She took out some files from her pockets and handed them over. “Here’s your assignment for today.”
“Oh boy. Can I at least ask for help if I’m stuck?”
“Sure thing, but don’t slack off and let others do the work for you.”
“I know.”
