“Somebody help!” A pedestrian cried out. “My scooter’s been taken by a crazy form of force!”

James pulled out his walkie-talkie to contact someone. “Did you hear that, Greg? The perpetrator might have accomplices and has taken to the skies!”

“I hear you loud and clear.” A voice echoed from the other line. “In fact, I’m in pursuit, as we speak. I’ll try to take them down.” Another officer named Greg put the walkie-talkie away as his hands gripped the steering wheel. His eyes followed the scooter, swerving out of control.

Richard caught eye on the air fuel from the scooter running low and leaped off. He hit the ground with a loud thump and made a considerable amount of cracks in the field. By the time he took wind of what had happened, his invisibility powers disappeared in a flash. Greg floored it as he chased after Richard, who continued to run in the opposite direction at a breakneck pace.

Richard tried his best to outspeed the police car by turning corners and zig-zagging Greg, all while avoiding contact with oncoming traffic. There seemed to be no chance of him slowing down, though. Richard found himself surrounded by police cars and an impenetrable wall stood in front of him, which stopped him from going any further.

He turned and backed himself up against the wall as cars went closer to him. The car lights blared in Richard’s sights as his heart pounded fast and covered part of his face to avoid getting the light in his eyes.

He shut his eyes tight, and the next thing he knew, his body propelled himself into the air. When Richard opened his eyes again, the entire city appeared in front of his view. He could see everything, from buildings, to the lakeside covered in fog, and boats riding by in passing. Richard’s face brightened up, watching the sights. He didn’t even notice the gravity going against him as he dropped back down to the ground. Once he realized it, he made the landing, unintentionally causing the road to rise and knock the police cars out of the way.

Seeing that the path was a definite dead-end filled with cracks and dents, Richard ran in the other direction. He tried to control his pace and speed, but couldn’t stop moving fast. He glanced back as one more vehicle avoided his attack and continued with the pursuit.

Fawn called to his attention to watch where he was heading. Richard looked over at a long bridge, about to open and split itself apart. He prayed that he could make it across with no problem. Richard leaped in the air just as the bridge went to its highest point with the giant boat passing by. The sirens rang in his ears as he turned to find that the car followed him over the bridge at full speed.

“You won’t get away with this!” Greg’s voice thundered.

From the corner of his eyes, the flying scooter zoomed into a collision course. Panicking, Greg took his seatbelt off, exiting the car and plunging into the water. Richard shielded himself from the explosive impact as the scooter collided with the vehicle, causing it to explode.

As he fell toward the ocean, watching the red flames burst from above, reminded him of something long ago. A memory he had long suppressed came back to haunt him. He fell across the large grassy hill, watching The Dewberry Mansion catch up in an enormous amount of flames. He had no idea how that happened, if it ever did. Richard hadn’t recalled seeing anything prior to falling asleep that day. Still, the less he thought about that place he once called home—

“Richard, snap out of it!” Fawn shouted, snapping him back to reality. “Look out for the—”

“Huh? What?” Richard looked down at the water, getting closer and closer. He didn’t have much time to react as he fell headfirst into the water.

Meanwhile, beside the pier, Rick and James left their vehicle to investigate what happened at the scene. James bent down to check on the coat and hat drifting by the shore. Rick took off his hat and stared out at the horizon. Some bubbles surfaced as a person crawled out of the water. James and Rick stopped what they did and went over to pull him up on the land.

“Greg, are you alright?” Rick asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine, thanks.” Greg squeezed out some water from his clothes and patted his hat.

“Where did that scooter come from?” Rick inquired, trying to search for the object in the sky.

“Who knows?” James shrugged. “But what happened to the blue blob?”

Greg looked over the ocean, tilted his hat down, and lowered his head. “I think he’s a goner.”

Rick scratched his chin. Was it really the case? “But, if that guy is gone, then what do we do now?”

“Well, let’s go report this to the chief,” James replied coolly, as he took out a notepad and pen.

“But what about Mayor Max? Wouldn’t he—?”

“Simple, Rick, we don’t tell him a thing. That guy doesn’t need to know, it’s not his business.”

Rick nodded with a frown. The three cops entered the waiting car and drove away from the area.
