《Blue Road》Episode 4 (Part 3)

Richard and Fawn made it outside and ran from the remaining conscious members of the building. They did their best to avoid any police officers that might get in their way. He didn’t know where to go, as he looked around the area in a frantic panic. Fawn reassured him to calm down and pointed toward the subway station.

The two hid behind a bush as the cars and employees rushed past them, their yells overlapping one another. When the noises faded from their current position, Fawn left Richard’s body and discussed their potential next plan.

“Do we run to the station to hide?” Richard suggested.

“No way, we’ll get caught.” Fawn waved it off. She pointed toward some cars at a dealership. “Let’s use some transportation. We can hide and drive to our destination with the windows closed. Won’t be able to blend in at night, anyway.”

Richard scratched the back of his head. “Well, about that...”

“There they are!” A voice yelled out. “Get him!”

Some darts zoomed through the bushes as Richard fell over and backed up, barely missing them. He got up and dashed the other way to avoid their collision. Richard couldn’t believe this body was this speedy, despite its figure and shape. He didn’t understand how chaotic the situation got, either.

Richard leaped into the air and ended up finding himself landing on top of one car where some older man tried to convince a customer to buy the vehicle.

“...And as you can see,” He went on. “This car has just about everything—” He turned to see the car had been destroyed and the customer ran off, freaking out. “What the—? What do you think you’re doing, you freak of nature?”

Richard glared at the car owner. “I didn’t choose to be this way, but I’m stuck with it, whether or not I like it!”

“What are you talking about?”

Richard rushed over to a new working car and went inside. “I’ll be taking this if you don’t mind.”

“Hey, wait, that’s not—” He tried to shout, but Richard locked the doors and slammed on the pedal as the vehicle drove off before he heard what the man said.

Richard swerved and drifted all over the place, much to Fawn’s confusion. “What are you doing? Do you not know how to drive?”

“Yeah, I was going to tell you sooner!” Richard exclaimed.

He looked out the rear window as police cars drove towards him. Richard also found that the vehicle he rode in appeared to be going slower than usual. He thought up the idea to break through the bottom of the car and stomp on the ground. Using his speed, he ran across the pavement as fast as possible.

Fawn gave Richard directions on where to go, but had trouble reacting to them fast enough without crashing. Eventually, he lost his footing and drove right into the parking lot, right in front of a wall. Fawn and Richard got out of the car just before it exploded and busted into flames.

Richard coughed up a lung as he tried to see through the smoke that emanated from the area. Some shadowy figures lurked from behind the fog, with flashlights shining and piercing through the darkness.

“Those guys found us already?” Fawn questioned, biting her lip.

“Alright, this is your last chance.” A voice warned him. “Come out nice and slowly or else.”

Richard backed up against a wall near the car wreckage, covering his mouth and trying not to breathe in the smoke or make a sound.

Would it kill them to at least say please? He didn’t know what to do. His heart wouldn't stop pounding rapidly, either.

Fawn loosened her palms and sighed. “It looks like we got no other option.”

She flew over to Richard and tapped him on the shoulders, causing his body to become transparent and invisible. The employers and officers go through him and look around the area in confusion.

Richard tried to keep his footing and walked away from the scene of the crime. He was about to ask Fawn what was going on, but she was already a step ahead of him. The girl explained how she had the power to transform someone invisible, but only used them as a last resort. The power didn’t last long though, and ghosts like her had to recharge before using it again.

Richard spotted an open sewer just outside the parking lot, thinking that it might be a useful shortcut to the subway station. Fawn wasn’t sure about the idea, but she found the spell slowly wearing off, and felt they had no choice but to hurry toward the sewers before getting caught.
