Angavu
It was bright and full of cheers and excitement, as Alakazam sat in the crowd watching the fight with giddiness as he cheered for his mom. She was in a sporty tank top revealing her athletic but slim physique. She was in the ring with a guy double her size, and all the people in the crowd cheered for her opponent. But she didn't stop smiling, as her opponent came charging towards her with a barreling fist, she ducked it as the wind blew past her and took a side step and rammed a barrage of jabs towards the man. He got hit with a few before being able to block, she smiled as she kept the rhythm.
Forcing him on the defense and just before he started to look comfortable she switched styles, going more defensive and quick on her feet. He winded up for a fast and powerful right hook and just before he could land, his head bobbed to the right viciously as if he had been struck but his mother's guard was still up and high as she only offered a smirk, in a moment of confusion she took advantage and slammed a right hook into his jaw and then pivoted for left and then snapped her right hand back and went for a fake out, he dodged but then the same thing happened again he was hit from the left side by some invisible force and recoiled back in pain. As she landed a final uppercut to his chin, his eyes went blank as he fell to the mat, she raised her arms in victory as they did the count down. “ and the winner is Angavu! And she won by KO again, with her iconic phantom punch!”
The announcer said as they cheered erupted in disappointment and booed her, she remained smiling as Alakazam ran down to the ring, jumping into her arms. “Mommy mommy why is everyone booing still, I thought you won?” The young Alakazam said with enthusiasm as she ruffled his hair and laughed, “greatness is always easier to hate, but don't sweat it we're going out tonight!” Alakazam looked to his mother as she wiped the sweat off herself, and led them out; they walked down the streets of Baragoi. It was a spectacle. The women wore elegant dresses with sewing to keep their hands covered. As women were expected to be elegant and reserved, as Angavu walked around town in shorts and a tank top it caused many discerning and judging eyes, but she didn't care. As she and Alakazam made their way to their home.

The home was a little place near the outskirts of Baragoi, it was a modest home and big enough for her and Alakazam. She made her way in and noticed a note, she quickly grabbed it before Alakzam could see and opened the door, as Alakazam ran inside and jumped to his room. She took a seat at the dining table and read the note, she let out a large sigh as it read: “Eviction Notice: You have failed to pay your bills for two consecutive months, you have one week to pay for those two months and this one or you will be forced to leave the premises.”
She ran her hands through her hair and took a deep breath. She was stalling her landlord for months and was hoping she would get into a big fight. But she wanted to win her fights, and she wanted a real fight but the Kinetic Boxing scene didn't like that, they said a woman beating men boxers would be a bad image. And that she should lose a couple of times, fall on the mat, and buckle, but she refused and because of that she was hardly getting paid enough to make a living. But if she could get a real opponent, and win she would get a large payout, because she didn't want to throw matches and be under a manager's thumb.
She read the newspaper and smiled as she got her stuff and yelled out, “hey kid I left some food for you on the table. I'll be back in a few!” She ran out and towards the castle with the newspaper crunched in her hands, but she was stopped by two Shujaa. “State your purpose,” they said plainly. “Here to meet with the old man,” she said with a grin as they sighed and let her in. She made her way through the castle, passing many glancing eyes and the usual gazes. She didn't care and walked to the end of the hall. She knocked on the door and was given the okay to come in. She walked in and revealed the old man with a golden blindfold and long gray long locs that hung past his shoulders, he was in the middle of eating as he sighed. “What do you need now? You know you shouldn't be here, it will only anger the nobility.” He said as he looked straight at her, “I need a final favor.” She says slamming the newspaper on the table and the man seems to look down and sighed. “What the hell, I'll see what I can do.”

She was wrapping her fists and getting a good warmup as she waited in the locker room. It was empty and she could hear the applause for her opponent only growing, she shook it off and stayed pumped. She would do her best even if she had no applause, even if everybody was against her she knew there was one person in the crowd that was watching, her son would be watching and she wanted to make sure she gave a good show.
She went out of the locker room and marched down the aisle, the cheers died down but she heard one distant cheer. She looked up to see her son, “beat him up, mommy!” He cheered for her and she smiled and went into the ring. She cracked her knuckles and waited for the announcer, “today we have a man who needs no introduction he is known only as Deathblow, he stands at 5 '5 and weighs in at 170 lbs. Our next challenger is a woman who doesn't play by the rules, the first female Kinetic Boxer and rising for the championship belt.
Her opponent laughed as the bell rang he went in quick for a decisive blow, she weaved to the left and then countered with a body shot he braced for impact and barely shook. She backed up, and took a deep breath, visualizing two golden fists. As she commanded them like her own hands, punching the opponent in the jaw with a hook and then another hook from the opposite side. Laning a body blow with her fist and then delivering a vicious combo, combining her agility and phantom punch to confuse him. She landed an uppercut and watched as he planted to the floor and for once the applause came in, everyone was cheering and in shock as she raised her hands in victory. Letting out a cry as Alakazam ran to her she hugged the boy and carried him above her head. As she had a fire burning in her chest, she would make sure she won the championship belt not just for the money but so her son could see anything is possible.

Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.
