《The Goose, the golden egg and the end of the world》Chapter 6

Robert was waiting anxiously at his house for the goose to return, worried that the Missuccis were so desperate to have the goose back that they were capable of doing anything to get it back. He breathed a sigh of relief when the goose returned without a feather out of place. In the short time that they had been together Robert had grown tremendously fond of the goose. The goose was intelligent and he enjoyed their conversations, certainly the goose made for better company than Peter. Robert was never very interested in people and had spent his entire life retreating into his own company. His solipsism was the reason for his wife leaving him but the collapse of his marriage did nothing to make Robert want to change this about himself. He'd been entirely alone since his divorce with visits from Peter serving as his only social contact. The innumerable mysteries surrounding the goose and Robert's interest in unraveling them meant that he would never find the goose exasperating or tire of its company.
"How did it go?"
"Anthony has been mollified, you need no longer fear being the target of mobsters."
"What's our next step?"
"There are some preparations that I need to make before we can embark on the pilgrimage."
"I still know absolutely nothing about this pilgrimage."
"The egg requires certain forms of nourishment in order for it to hatch healthily, the pilgrimage is how it obtains that nourishment."
"What is this nourishment?"
"Life energy, the egg absorbs the energy of this world and that's what allows it to hatch."
"Is this pilgrimage going to take us to the place where the egg is going to absorb this energy?"
"The egg requires various different forms of energy, so we'll be making various stops along the way."

The rest of Robert's questions the goose answered with 'I don't have that information yet'. Robert grew increasingly curious about the pilgrimage and his curiosity pushed to the back of his mind many of the concerns that he had about the lack of information that he was getting from the goose. He went to bed with the goose next to him still feeling ambivalent about the adventure they were about to set off on but was looking forward to it with more anticipation than apprehension.

What would an anime be like from the perspective of a background character? From birth, Reikawa Yuuya has had the ability to see the character arcs of the people around him, a skill passed down through his family. Combined with his extremely low presence, Yuuya is in the perfect position to be an observer in countless stories. The thing is, though, the humans in this city aren’t people. Not to him.And he’s afraid of what they can become.(Disclaimer: This is a psychological drama. Yuuya starts the story off with severe psychological and emotional trauma that only decays as the story proceeds. If you're looking for a witty meta story with a cool power-fantasy MC, this isn't it.)Also on Wordpress at zerovisible.wordpress.com

Gray's Crucible
“The value you have brought to trade is immense, more than a thousand fold what any other traveler to Crucible has ever produced. More than even I produced during my journey.” The old man paused for a moment here, seemingly reluctant to continue. After a few seconds he begins again with weariness creeping into his voice. “As the Messenger of Crucible I have received the value of your life. You shall be awarded a body with potential equaling the value you have brought to this place in accordance with the laws of the higher realms. Now you shall depart for Crucible, but first; I, Jaze, will give you some advice.” The old man, Jaze, he had named himself paused a time. Time enough that Gray began to wonder if he was still present, when he suddenly continued in a low and serious tone, “You will undoubtedly have great potential Gray of Earth, but it is still only potential. What could be is not necessarily what will be. If you step foolishly in my world, if you can not live up to the potential you have bartered for, Crucible will crush you mercilessly and tear away your very soul.” A thought, cheerful and light was heard from Gray before his presence was sent rocketing away like a shooting star. “I’m looking forward to it.”
