《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 4

"Hey, Jet," Kayley popped her head into a small cave to look at Jet. She was upside down.
"Let me guess. Jeff has magically found us a new place to mine?" Jet didn't understand how Jeff could find the small veins so fast. When they had arrived, a guard gave them a one-hour course on how to climb. Only Jet needed the training since Jeff and Kayley knew how to climb. Jeff knew but didn't like climbing.
"Yes, so get up here. I'll leave a line for you to follow." Kayley zipped away as fast as she had come.
"Yeah, yeah." Jet mumbled and worked on getting the rest of the small blue crystals they were mining. Apparently, there were several types of gems to mine in these depths. Using the small pick he was using, he got the last of the gems loose. "Isn't it time to head back yet?" Jet sighed, grabbed the small lantern, and hooked it to his belt.
Walking out to the edge of the small cave, Jet let the cold wind wash over him. Where the wind came from, he had no idea. Cause he was certain, they were very deep underground. He looked up where Kayley had left a rope line for him. Jet went into overdrive, making the world fifty percent slower. Then jumped up, grabbing onto a ledge and climbing up to the rope line. He quickly latched himself to the safe line. Jet was not afraid to admit he felt safer this way. Jet wasn't Kayley, who liked climbing around freestyle. That's why he used overdrive to make it easier for him to climb and more time to think.
"Hey Jet, over here." Kayley was next to Jeff, helping him mine some kind of metal.
Jet looked over at her shaking his head. There was a rope for him to follow. So he already knew which way to go. However, he was getting used to them talking slowly around him. Although he had been using his overdrive too much, he got a headache from overuse. "So, what did you find this time?"
"I think it's aluminum. There are so many metals and jewels in this place." Jeff said as he and Kayley mined the ore.
"Isn't aluminum made from bauxite?" Jet asked.
Jeff looked down at Jet. "You paid attention in science class?"
"Nope, seen it on the discovery channel. Now let's head back," Jet stopped as a person screaming fell right past them. Nearly grabbing ahold of him and taking him down.
"Jet, why didn't you try grabbing them?" Jeff looked down wide-eyed.
"That would be idiotic, Jefferson. Jet can barely get around as is. Most likely would have taken all of us down if he had tried." Kayley flicked Jeff on the forehead.
"They still haven't landed." Jet whispered while looking down.
Jeff and Kayley looked at each other, then back at Jet. "How do you know that?" Kayley asked.
"They have magic, and I can see them falling. But they are just about out of my site." Jet wondered just how far down the cave went.

"Well, it's getting late. We should find a place to rest or head back and turn in what we got." Jeff looked around, trying to figure out how far they were from the entrance.
"We still have some food. Why don't we find a cave and sleep? We can turn in the metals and gems after we rest." Kayley looked around for a close-by cave. Not wanting to return to the one Jet had been working, it was too small.
Once they found a cave to sleep in, Jet relaxed his body enhancements. Looking around, he felt wrong in the place. As if time was out of order. Kayley said that time was messed up in the caves, but it felt like more than that. They had only known Kayley for a few days and only spoke to her for one of those. Yet it felt like weeks.
"Hey, guys, there is a stream of water deeper down." Kayley cheerfully paced back up the slope of the cave. Not that anyone blamed her, the water given to them had a bad aftertaste.
When they got the stream, Jet frowned. "Not big enough for a bath."
"Wouldn't that be nice, a bath?" Kayley grinned.
Jeff just looked at the both of them. "You two are nuts. It's freezing down here."
"Jeff is a shower person. So just ignore him." Jet said offhandedly.
"What's a shower?" Kayley asked.
"Don't worry about it. I'll take you to Earth with us. We have a few things that will blow your mind." Jet grabbed some sticks out of a pack. They had been given a lighter also. Although there weren't many little sticks, so he figured the fire wouldn't last long. However, to his surprise, the wood burned an odd color and not too fast. When Jet looked back up, Jeff had already eaten and fallen asleep.
"So your back with us? You have been staring at the fire for an hour now." Kayley gave a small smile.
"Yeah, a bad habit that I never broke." Jet pulled some jerky out of his bag to eat.
"Sorry about your sword this morning. I tried to store it away. But it wouldn't go into my spacial earrings." Kayley frowned.
"No worries, I can get it anytime. Not sure why but I feel an attachment to them." Jet looked at Kayley, who had a raised eyebrow.
"Them?"
"Oh, right, I have three weapons. World Breaker, Fate, and The Meat Cleaver." Jet reached out his hand, and The Meat Clever formed in his hand. "Interesting fact about this weapon." The Meat Clever changed into a knife. Which still didn't make sense because it was now smaller. "This can change its shape."
Kayley's eyes grew wide. "How does it work?"
Jet just shrugged. "I have no clue." He explained how he had gotten them.
"You know, it is a bad idea to give away secrets like that."
"I figured I owe you one. You told us about the spacial earrings your hiding." Jet wasn't going to ask where that was. He had his suspicions.

"Alright, we should get some sleep. Got to head back tomorrow and get some more food."
"I'll stay up for the first watch." Jet said, and Kayley gave him an odd look. "As much as I trust the people around here. I got a feeling they would gladly jump us for our supplies." After all, they were sleeping in a cell before. Now that they had to trade what was mined for supplies. What's to stop others from stealing from each other.
"Fine, wake me for the second half of the night," Kayley said before going to sleep.
Jet had no intention of waking her. Using his magic, he could stay up for a few weeks if he tried. After she had fallen asleep, he picked his knife back up. "Now, let's see how much you can transform." Putting it to the keyhole on his bracelet, he pictured The Meat Clever forming into a key. Sure enough, it took on the shape and easily unlocked the bracelet.
There was a clang as it hit the ground. Jet made sure it didn't wake the others before getting up. Walking over to the cave entrance, he blocked it, leaving a few holes for air. Not that he could figure out how the air got this deep down. But he could feel the air coming through the holes. To be sure not to kill his friends from asphyxiation, he pulled the air through faster with magic. He was moving the air around himself so as not to wake the others. Jet got to work on making a small home.
Jet had gotten lost in thoughts as he worked. Now was the time to plan an escape. Not that he had a clue how to so far down underground. 'If it's only for a week, maybe once we get back up. However, this world feels too off.' He thought while making a table. Not that they could stay in the cave forever. But it felt good to him making the temporary home.
"You really are something to use so many elements." Kayley had woken watching Jet.
"Not exactly. The more I use my magic, the less I think I use elements. It's more like I can, well, bend the world to my will. The more I watch others use their magic, the more I notice how different mine is from others." Jet looked over at her and smiled. "Enough of that. Want me to take your bracelet off? It will feel good to have your magic back for a while."
"Why would you put it back on?" Kayley looked at him skeptically.
"Simple, we will need to head back for supplies. Not only that, if we wander around without them, they will know something is up. Best if we only take them off when we should be sleeping." Jet walked over and unlocked her bracelet, then tossed it on a bed he had made.
"Ok, I can see that. But if you got all this power, why not escape?"
"I damaged a lot of my cores before I came here. My magic flow is slow, and if I force it out. Well, I damage them and my body even more. It also doesn't help that I've constantly been enhancing my body since I've got here." Jet took off his shirt to show the blue cracks running through his body.
Kayley's eyes went wide at the scars on his body, not even noticing the blue cracks. "You look so young. How do you have so many scars? What are you fifteen?"
"I'm over seventeen. I still got some room to grow, hopefully, a few more inches." Ok, Jet knew the chances were slim for him to grow now.
"Sorry, but you do look young. I'm a little taller than you are." Kayley took a better look at Jet's well-toned body. He was quite muscular for his age. But she took a closer look and noticed the small blue cracks on his body. "I've never seen magic damage like this." Reaching out, she rubbed a finger down one of the cracks.
"Judging the way magic runs through you, it looks like you have veins for magic. Mine are run through my bones and several cores." Jet stopped when he noticed Kayley looking at him funny. "What?"
"Aren't you cold? It's freezing down here."
"Oh, that, I'm warming the air around me. I happen to be good with fire. It may have to do with my master being a fire magician. Rick also taught me how to use a sword and sneak around to assassinate people. How to blend in and steal documents. I think Rick may have been a bad influence." Jet put his shirt back on and sat down at the table.
Kayley copied Jet and sat across from him. "Well, my father taught me how to use a sword. Didn't get much further than that since I left home at twelve." She went completely silent.
"You left home at twelve? Why?" Jet asked.
"I'm running from someone. So I World Jumped, as you call it here. I've lived here since then." Kayley's face paled at the memory.
"Judging from the look on your face, this person must be one bad dude."
"I don't know what dude means. But this person killed my entire family and almost got me. Before I left." Kayley had tears falling down her face.
Jet was not sure what to do. "I see. I couldn't imagine losing my whole family."
"He's lying, Kayley. Jet here lost all but his Aunt Jean." Jeff had woken up.
"No, my situation is different. I can see in her eyes she means her entire family. I still have another Aunt and Uncle, both my grandparents. Kayley lost her whole family." Jet looked into her eyes as he spoke. She had suffered more than he had.
"My whole family would be a lie. My twin brother killed all of them."

I'm not writing this anymore unfortunately, and I probably won't ever continue it. The main focus is on skills, and skill modification/evolution in that regard. Expect some weird 4th dimension stuff eventually, and the weird things that come from there.
