《An Ancient's Leisure》Chapter 16

Johnny opens the door and sees Lucy standing there with a smile, holding a large dish of pasta.
“I've brought dinner!” She says happily.
Johnny lets out a sigh. “So you've come to offer yourself up. Come in, I'll open a glass of wine. You might as well enjoy yourself before I feast on your flesh.” Johnny says as he opens the door further and walks into the house.
Lucy smirks. “As for who'll be feasting on who, we'll see…” She says before walking into the house and closing the door.
Lucy places the pasta on the dining table and goes on to grab some plates and cutlery.
Johnny grabs two glasses and a bottle of red wine. He uncorks it and pours a healthy amount into both glasses before brining them to the table.
Lucy didn’t say anything and began to put pasta on both plates, then she began to eat, occasionally drinking some wine.
Johnny also ate silently, and enjoyed his drink. But it was not wine he was after tonight; he was after something much meatier…
Eventually, the two both finished their meals and the wine bottle was now empty.
Johnny stands up and walks over to Lucy before extending a hand. “Come on.” He says.
Her face flushed, Lucy grabs Johnny’s hand and allows him to lead her upstairs to the bedroom.
“Lay down.” Johnny says.
Obediently, Lucy lays down.
Johnny could hardly wait any longer and he leans down to kiss her, but just as their lips were about to touch…
***CRASH***
The window in the room was blasted open and a figure had entered before reaching for Johnny’s throat.
Johnny slaps the hand a way before his other hand becomes a spear and pierces into the assailant’s neck, causing the figure to collapse on the ground.

***BOOM***
***CRASH***
The front door and another window had been broken into.
But Johnny couldn’t think too much about it.
Another figure had entered the room, his aura much stronger than the previous person’s; this person was at the seventh stage, and was very close to the eighth stage.
Johnny no longer had the yang gathering spell and it would be very dangerous to engage the man at his current cultivation.
“Get up!” Johnny yells before leaping back.
Lucy had also gotten up and ran to Johnny’s side.
“Hmm. Fool. You’ve touched my family child, and now you’ll pay the price. That was my brother you killed. Today, me and my children will destroy this house, rape the woman, make you watch, then kill you.” The vampire says, his words steady.
The vampire spoke no longer and pounced.
Lucy took out her wand and cast a spell; a large fireball was shot out and hit the vampire in the face.
The vampire’s face was burnt and the impact had shocked his brain, but it wasn’t able to kill him.
Johnny immediately took advantage and attacked. A fist covered in burning yang energy hit the vampire in the chest, the impact causing him to fly back out of the window.
But before Johnny could relax, two more vampires entered the room.
Lucy threw out another fireball and one of the vampires caught on fire and began to scream before his flesh became charred and he collapses onto the floor.
Johnny pounced on the vampire lady and didn’t hesitate to reach into her heart and rip it out of her, causing the vampire to collapse as well.
Johnny extends his senses as he reaches into his space bag and takes out a sword. Johnny began to count down in his head. One, two, three! He exclaims before lunging out with all his might.

The seventh stage vampire had appeared once more, and Johnny aimed straight at his scarred chest, his sword piercing into his heart and causing him to fly back out the window with a blade in his chest.
Johnny didn’t hesitate and immediately jumped out as well. He knew that this wasn’t enough to kill the vampire.
Johnny quickly approaches the vampire before pulling out the sword, then his hand struck out like a viper and grasped the vampire’s heart in his hands. He tried to pull it out but the vampire had grabbed his arm and held him tight. Johnny was left with no choice but to begin pumping burning yang energy into the heart.
“Aaaaahh!!!” The vampire yells out as he feels the yang energy corrosively eating away at his heart and purifying his energy.
Eventually the vampire’s hand weakly fell to the side and Johnny pulls the heart out with all his strength.
Johnny begins to breathe heavily, his body covered in blood. “God damn.” He couldn’t help but say.

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]
