《An Ancient's Leisure》Chapter 14

Johnny examines the red mark on his chest and frowns. Disregarding the physical energy, a powerful seventh ranked vampire's source blood energy was infused in this wound and it was right next to his heart. If Johnny wasn't careful, he was at risk of becoming a vampire.
Johnny quickly gathers his spiritual energy and pulls out the source blood energy. After it was all gathered, Johnny placed it in a jar and sealed it. Johnny breaths a breath of relief. Now he just had to heal.
Johnny places a glowing white hand against his chest, the light disinfecting the wound and encouraging healing.
Before long, Johnny’s chest began to look normal, only leaving behind a large bruise. Johnny left it as it was and decided to forget about the matter. He wouldn’t let go of an opportunity to feel pain; the ache in his chest would keep him going for a while.
…
…
“Senior.” Neil says with a bow. “This is my friend Gordon.” He says with a gesture.
Johnny nods. “Come inside.” He says as he leads the way to the living room.
Both men took a seat.
Johnny extends a hand. “Give me your cultivation technique.” He says.
Gordon wasn’t slow, and immediately handed over his cultivation technique.
Johnny looks it over, flipping through it quickly, before standing up. “Okay, let me have a look at your body.” He says.
Gordon stands and waits as Johnny puts a hand on his chest.
Johnny leans in and takes a breath. “You smell nice.” He says.
Gordon’s face becomes red, but he stays silent.
Johnny quickly examined Gordon’s injuries and goes back to his seat. Gordon also sits back down.
“I can revise your cultivation technique. But your injuries aren’t too bad. If you’d like I can refine an elixir to heal your damaged meridians. I’m just lacking ingredients.” Johnny says. “But of course, revising the technique would be easier.” He says, feeling a little lazy.

Gordon’s eyes widen. “Can you really heal my injuries?” He asks, somewhat in doubt. This sort of injury wasn’t easy to heal.
Johnny thinks it over and shakes his head. Maybe this was also nature. Why take back the work of entropy? Johnny wonders. “Never mind. Come back in a few days and I'll have your revised technique.” He says, giving up on the matter of healing.
Gordon looked helpless but he couldn’t do much. He simply nods. “Thank you, senior. I’ll be back in a few days.” He says before standing up.
…
…
One day, Mary Rose came by the house. “Johnny, Johnny!” She calls out.
Johnny goes downstairs and lets Mary Rose into the house. “Why so excited?” He asks, curious.
“I did it! I did it, Johnny! I’m officially a first stage cultivator!” She says excitedly before throwing out a few shadow punches. “Soon, I’ll be invincible!” She says with a laugh.
Johnny lets out a laugh. “I’m sure you will.” He says before finding a seat.
Mary Rose sits next to him and grabs his hand before looking at him eagerly. “So what’s next? Fist techniques? Sword techniques? Or maybe magic spells?” She asks excitedly.
Johnny lets out a bitter smile. “What’s the use of those things? They’re only for fighting. With me around, you won’t ever have to lift a finger, so why bother?” Johnny says dismissively.
Mary Rose looked disappointed before shaking her head. “No! What’s the point in having a man fight my battles? I should be able to defend myself!” She says in defiance.
Johnny lets out a sigh. “Fine. But for now, just a palm technique and a movement technique. I don’t want to overwhelm you.” He says before tapping his glowing finger twice.

Mary Rose processes the information and smiles. She quickly gives Johnny a kiss on the lips. “Thanks, babe.” She says, satisfied.
Stimulated, Johnny wouldn’t let go of this opportunity. “How thankful are you?” He says as he pushes Mary Rose to lay on the couch.
Mary Rose could only roll her eyes. Men. They’re all the same. She couldn’t help but think.
…
…
There weren’t any big waves in Johnny’s life and he was getting quite bored, so he turned his attention to his snake.
Johnny still had to revise that cultivation technique, and he was also waiting for revenge from the vampire’s family, but he had to do something to keep busy.
Johnny had no doubt that the vampire he killed had friends. Being a vampire was a very lonely ordeal; becoming the enemy of mankind wasn’t an easy thing, and a lot of vampires tended to crave companionship and acceptance.
As such, they infect others with their disease and create families. They were more powerful as a group and it was nice to have a people who understood. The family of the vampire who Johnny had killed were undoubtedly worried for their friend, and when they discovered that Johnny killed him, they would undoubtedly be filled with fury.
But that matter could only wait for a bit.
Johnny leans down to the snake and touches its head with a glowing finger.
Johnny had given it a demon snake inheritance. With this, the snake’s future path would undoubtedly be much easier.
After that, he took the snake out to begin hunting demon beasts.

We think these people do not know what they are talking about, throwing around words that sound pleasant. We are The Irregulars. We are born from pain, hatred our sustenance and suffering our armour. They will have to repair the ship, launch it back to space and then decide what to do with it. Will they restore the empire? Explore the galaxy? Or get up to unspeakably hilarious hijinks..... This is my first work, so please comment and critique as much as possible. This work is being migrated from Webnovel to Royal Road cause RR has a muuuuch better text editor and formatting options. I aim to release five chapters a week unless this catches on. In which case I'm happy to increase the release schedule up to 2 chapters a day based on readership.

“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
