《An Ancient's Leisure》Chapter 13

When Johnny arrived home he layed his head down trying to ease the aching. As he examined his day, he realized that he had been put under a spell and his eyes widened. Damn! Is that witch targeting me? Why do I feel like I would fall for it either way? Johnny thinks. He was very much in the mood to cheat, but considering that he was also under a curse that would encourage this, he didn't think it would be too wise.
Also… There's Mary Rose… Johnny thinks before his headache flares up once more. Damn! I'll just stay away from that witch. Hopefully I won’t see her again. Johnny decides.
Eventually he went to sleep, hoping to forget the day.
…
…
“Little thief, come out!” Johnny calls out.
Eventually, Leo appeared before him.
Johnny thew out a bound book.
Leo caught it and smiled.
“Thank you, master.” He says with a bow.
Johnny waves his hand. “Don’t call me master. That’s weird. You can call me senior. I hate things that sound so definitely superior.” He says.
Leo bows once more. “Thank you, senior.” He says once more.
“Alright. You don’t have to follow me anymore. But if you have questions you can call me. Also, if you have any problems, either from yourself or the people around you, you can call me. I love problems.” Johnny says before going back to the house.
...
…
Johnny received a call.
“Senior, I was wondering if you’d be able to assist with something.” A voice says over the phone.
Johnny raises an eyebrow. “Who is this?” He asks.
“This is Neil from the East Kingdom. The grave-robber.” The man says, rubbing his nose in mild embarrassment.
“Oh? What’s the issue?” Johnny asks.
“I have a friend who failed to break through the fifth stage of his technique. After failing, several meridian pathways that his cultivation technique used were broken. He has no way to progress anymore. He asked me if I had a solution so I called you.” Neil says.
“Huh, that’s not bad.” Johnny says, analyzing the situation. “At least his dantian didn’t break. Even I wouldn’t have a solution for that, unless we had some supreme treasures. Tell your friend that if he comes over I can revise his cultivation technique to use different meridians while trying to maintain his base.” He says, deciding on the matter.
Neil let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you, senior. I’ll give him your details.” He says before ending the call.

It wasn’t long before he received another call. Johnny saw that it was Lucy, the love spell witch, and his eyes widened.
He urgently wished to answer the call but Johnny threw the phone on the couch and held his hand down. Not today, witch! He exclaims in his mind.
The ringing ended, but Johnny still received a text. Johnny let out a sigh and read it.
URGENT!! SOS!!! A vampire is hunting me down!! I’m coming over!!
Johnny read the text and groans. “God dammit.” He exclaims.
It wasn’t long before a witch riding a broom flew over to his house.
Seeing her, Johnny’s heart began to beat. Dammit, Johnny! Keep it in your pants! He exclaims, berating himself.
When Lucy saw Johnny, she let out a breath of relief.
As she approached, Johnny couldn’t help but say, “If you’re getting hunted by a vampire, why did you call me? You’re a sixth stage witch and my energy is at the fifth stage at most! Also, how do you know where I live!?” Johnny felt it was unfair, but then again, he was also the one surrounding himself with bad luck and curses.
Lucy lets out a smile. “Mary Rose told me. She also said that you were a formidable person. I thought you were hiding your energy at the fifth stage; you’re not really at the fifth stage are you?” She asks, in doubt.
Johnny shakes his head. “Yes, yes, I am.” He says. In truth, Johnny hasn’t even started any sort of cultivation since he came back to Earth. It was just energy that’s been pooling in his body, but it hasn’t been consolidated by a technique yet, and if it wasn’t necessary, Johnny didn’t really want to go through the process.
Lucy lets out a bitter smile. “Then we’re screwed. That vampire’s on the seventh stage. It was drawn to me by the love spell, but I don’t want to date a dirty vampire who feeds on children to stay alive. Naturally, I rejected him. But in anger, he began to hunt me down! The creep!” She lets out, exasperated.
Johnny let out a sigh. “Alright. Since you’re here, maybe we can do something about it. Just go into the house, I don’t want to look at you.” He says, annoyed.
Lucy was taken aback as she covered her chest with a hand. “Am I so repulsive?” She asks, in disbelief.
Johnny lets out a bitter smile. “You’re so attractive, it’s repulsive. I really want to pin you down right here.” He says without a care.

A blush forms on Lucy’s cheek. “I’ll go inside.” She says obediently before walking into the house.
Seeing that Lucy was out of sight, Johnny let out a breath of relief. Then he went to work. He took out several ancient gold coins from his space bag and threw them around the front yard, then he began shifting the natural setting around. Eventually he was done.
It was a Yang gathering formation and after being put into place, the sun moved out from behind the clouds and began to shine intensely. The formation gathered the energy and retained it, filling the yard with an intense yang energy.
Then, Johnny prepared to greet his guest.
To Johnny, vampires were just another sort of blood cultivator. Out of the many sorts of cultivators, vampires were very greedy for life; as such their path to cultivation starts when they steal the life energy from children. After that, the karma has to continue, and if they don’t continue to feed, karma will strip them of their power and leave them to rot. So, essentially, they can’t escape, forever doomed to be the bad guy, the continue to feed on children and the youthful, and in doing so, they continue to gather power. After a certain stage, karma no longer has that big of a hold on them, but there were still consequences if they were to stop feeding.
This is the sort of enemy that Johnny was facing. This one was high leveled enough that he has almost escaped from karma’s grasp, and he was truly on the path to power. Nevertheless, Johnny had some semblance of confidence. It wouldn’t be easy but there was still a chance he would win.
A shadow appeared on the yard, forming into a pale-faced man with styled hair and a dress shirt. The man looks up and immediately covers his eyes to block the sun. “What is this? It’s so uncomfortable.” He says. The man felt like his body was burning, which was normal for a vampire, but he was far past the need to hide away from the sun. The man felt that his blood boiling and his stolen life energy was beginning to dissipate under the heat.
Johnny didn’t hesitate and engaged. He pounces like a tiger and a clawed hand with a golden glow reached for the vampire’s neck.
Weakly, the vampire raises an arm to block. The impact wasn’t much of a problem for the vampire, but the claw was filled with a heavy yang energy, and as a creature of death, the energy seared through his arm, spreading rampantly and destroying the vampire’s arm.
“Aaaaah!!!” The vampire yells out. He doesn’t hesitate and immediately rips his own arm off.
Johnny raises his hand to the sky and gathers a large amount of yang energy from the formation before approaching once more. Without his other arm, the vampire, he was much easier to attack. Johnny aims for the vampire’s heart, the yang energy acting like corrosive acid. Johnny directly grabs the vampire’s heart and pulls it out.
The vampire watches this with wide eyes. He had just came here to hump and dump the sexy little witch’s body. Who knew that he had been approaching his death? Even as his soul was leaving his body, his intense fear of death caused him to lash out nonetheless. The strength of a seventh stage vampire was displayed with its full might, a bloody palm hit Johnny's chest.
Johnny softens the blow with his spiritual energy before following the flow of the force and doing a backflip and landing. On his chest was a bloody red burn mark.
Eventually, the vampire's energy left him and he collapsed to the ground.
Johnny looks at the dead body then at the heart and frowns. A vampire’s intense desire for life was nothing to scoff at. The heart continued to beat, still eagerly trying to pump blood and fill the vampire with love and life.
Johnny went inside and walks to the kitchen before throwing the heart at the witch causing her to clumsily catch it. “Now get out. Our business is done.” He says before walking to the faucet to wash his hands.
The witch puts the still beating heart away and frowns. “Why so moody? Is it so wrong to stay a while longer?” She asks, displeased.
Johnny turns off the faucet and dries his hands before looking to Lucy, giving her a stern stare. “If you don’t leave, I won’t stop myself. I won’t hesitate to rape you. To me, this isn’t any sort of cardinal sin. When the desire is as strong as I’m currently feeling it, the rape and the consequences would simply be nature.” Johnny says, his words cruel and outside the bounds of morality.
Lucy frowns. “Who says it has to be rape…” She couldn’t help but mumble. “But fine. If you don’t want to see me, I’ll just leave.” She says before walking away.
After she exited the house. Johnny let out a sigh of relief.

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
