《An Ancient's Leisure》Chapter 11

Johnny examines the amulet and let out a smile, satisfied. The demon was quite honest, it didn't target those around Johnny; the curse only targeted Johnny, and it served to increase Johnny's temptation. It also greatly increased the pleasure of indulging these temptations. Johnny was very satisfied with it.
Johnny continued to tour with Mary Rose, and Johnny greatly enjoyed indulging in all the local delicacies, and his time alone with Mary Rose grew increasingly more pleasurable. Johnny felt that he was becoming a hedonist, and he often had a glass of expensive liquor.
Although he was enjoying himself, Mary Rose was somewhat worried. Is he depressed? She couldn’t help but wonder.
Alas, Johnny was not going to stop anytime soon.
Eventually, their trip came to an end, and they went back home.
…
…
When they arrived back home, at the airport, Johnny could still sense the thief lingering in the surroundings and he let out a smile. Since he’s so dedicated, I’ll reward him. He thinks.
“Thief, come out!” Johnny calls out.
Before long, the thief appeared in front of Johnny.
Johnny smiles. “Leo, give me your cultivation technique. I’ll complete it for you.” He says.
Leo doesn’t hesitate and takes out an old journal, giving it to Johnny.
Johnny quickly flips through it and nods. “The Mountain Tiger technique. Not bad. Okay, go back. This could take a few days.” He says.
The thief left and Johnny began the trip home.
As Johnny and Mary Rose went to find a taxi, a commotion occurred nearby.
“Ooh! What are you doing here, little buddy? All alone? That’s not good! But that’s okay! I’ll take care of you! I’m in need of a snake’s gallbladder for a love spell…” A tall, beautiful brown-haired lady says. She had approached the snake and now there were various magical seals constricting the snake. The lady obviously wished to rob this snake.

Mary Rose frowns and holds out her hand. “Hey, lady! Leave that snake alone! That’s ours!” She calls out.
As the brown haired girl looked at Mary Rose and as Mary Rose looked the brown haired girl, Johnny couldn’t help but smile. I think Mary Rose found her other half. They’re sort of similar. He thinks, amused.
The tall lady looks at the snake, then back to Mary Rose. “Are you sure this thing is yours? Hmm. How much do you want for it?” She asks.
Mary Rose quickly thinks it through before looking at Johnny. “Do we need this snake?” She asks.
Johnny shrugs. “Not really, I guess. But if we keep it, I’m pretty sure it could be pretty powerful. At that point, it would be useful to have around.” He says.
Mary Rose nods and turns back to the lady. “We’re not selling, lady!” She confirms.
The lady lets out a sigh and she releases the snake, allowing it to fall to the ground. Then she walks over and hands out a card. “Alright. Here’s my card. Please let me know if you come across any other demon snakes. I really need one to complete a love spell. I’m so old already and I still don’t have a boyfriend! My mom’s beginning to nag!” She says before turning and leaving.
Johnny lets out a smile. Interesting lady. He thinks.
…
…
Mary Rose went back home, and Johnny also arrived back at his parent’s house.
“Look who’s home? Mr. I don’t need school because I’m loaded!” Johnny’s older sister, Sara says with a teasing smile.
“Sis! You’re home! How’s school? You know, if you want to drop out, let me know. I’ll take care of you.” Johnny says as he approaches for a hug.

Sara lets the kid hug him. “Hmph! Who wants to be supported by you?” She says, unwilling.
Johnny looks over and sees there was another lady visiting their house, sitting next to his brother. Johnny smirks. “Let me guess. Miss Company Ink?” He says with a chuckle.
A red blush immediately appears on the lady’s face.
Aaron quickly gets up to put Johnny into a headlock. “Damn, kid! Have some respect!” He says angrily.
Johnny lets out a laugh as he escapes. “Don’t mind me. Where’s mom and dad?” He asks.
Sara smirks. “Seeing as you’re loaded now, they also took a vacation. They’re enjoying life on a tropical island!” She says, amused.
“Oh?” Johnny says with a raised eyebrow. “What about you guys? Do you want to take a vacation?” He asks.
Sara looks at Aaron and they both smirk. “Damn, kid. We thought you’d never ask!” Sara says. The two had their own plans. Aaron wanted to take his girlfriend to the Central Continent to travel through a few countries, and Sara’s friends had also planned a trip to the Great South.
Aaron lets out a laugh. “We’ll be counting on you, little brother!” He says, satisfied.
Johnny lets out a chuckle. “That’s great. Then me and Mary Rose can have the house. Everyone’s happy.” He says, also satisfied.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to my first attempt at writing a novel. I am preparing to participate in the 2017 NaNoWriMo event so enjoy the first chapter as that's here early only to ensure that I have a place to post once the event starts. This means the first novel/book will have a target of 50,000 words. I'm excited to attempt this challenge despite the hurdles I will have to overcome. I do have a demanding full time job so planning time to write and make weekly releases starting in November will be my biggest challenge. Also, please accept my apologies on my cover. I'm not an artist and the only digital tool available at my disposal is the stock microsoft paint. So I did my best to create a decent cover as I did not want to steal the work of another. If there are those interested by the end of November in donating a new fan made cover then I will look into replacing the old cover.

Summoned
“Per aspera ad astra." Death. Mercilessly, it comes for all. But when a young man is given a second chance – a second life – to experience what he never has, what will he do? Leave the burdens of his past behind, improving upon his faults? Or will he collapse back into old sins, wasting the opportunity given to him? Perhaps even he himself does not know. * Join Andre on his journey as he explores a new world – one ripped straight from the pages of a D&D campaign he's never played. He will face monsters. He will face men. And above all, he will face himself. The story’s genre is your standard progression fantasy, isekai: magic, a system, and a level of technology suspiciously underdeveloped. I’ve borrowed tropes from various books I’ve read like “The Second Coming of Gluttony”. The similarities are there (particularly in the beginning), but I assure you the story is my own. It’s in the first-person perspective and has its own quirks, characters, and world for you to become immersed in. The upload schedule for this will be different from the usual fictions on this site: I’ll release chapters in batches rather than so many a week. I’m a college student, so I don’t want another deadline to worry about. Depending on the popularity/demand of the series, I might increase or decrease the rate of releases. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the story! P.S. This is my first fiction so make sure to point out mistakes wherever you see them. I’m doing this, partly, to increase my skill as a writer. However, be kind! I’m fragile, you know? Warning: ***This is far from your happy-go-lucky, feel-good adventure story. There will be content that some of you might not be comfortable with. And if you're already feeling skeptical reading this, click away and don't come back. If you're still here, what are you waiting for?***
