《An Ancient's Leisure》Chapter 6

The doorbell began to ring furiously.
***DING DING DING DING DING***
Johnny's mother frowns and hurriedly went to open the door. “Mary Rose, what's wrong? Are you that eager to see my son?” She exclaims, somewhat displeased.
Mary Rose could only let out a high-pitched scream. “Momma Jordan! Momma Jordan! We did it! We really did it! Oh my god! Oh my god! I can't believe we did it!” She exclaims over and over again.
Momma Jordan frowns as she saw this girl bringing this up. “Yes! I know! The whole house heard you! This really isn’t something you should be bringing up!” She says, growing more displeased.
Mary Rose’s face flushes red at the comment. “Not that!” She exclaims.
“Then what?” Momma Jordan asks, hoping the girl would just spit it out.
“This!” Mary Rose says as she holds out the ticket. “Your son won the lottery!!!” She exclaims with an excited voice.
Momma Jordan’s eyes widen. “What!? Are you kidding!? How could he win the lottery!? Johnny get down here!” She yells, her heart beginning to beat.
“He did! He really did! 50 million! Oh my god I can’t believe he really did it! Your son can really tell the future! How wild is that!?” Mary Rose continues to exclaim.
Johnny comes down the stairs and sees Mary Rose. He couldn’t help but smile.
Mary Rose ran up right away and gave Johnny a big kiss. “My lucky star!” She says with a smile.
“Honestly, I’m surprised. I thought it would take a few tries.” He says, somewhat in disbelief.
Johnny had browsed the news for weeks and even went to several places in the city, hoping to catch the flow of luck in the world. As his mind focused on his target, it began to process furiously. Eventually a set of numbers appeared in his dream.

Johnny let out a sigh of relief. To be honest, all that processing took a lot out of him. If he didn’t succeed in three tries he would have to give up as it just wasn’t worth it. He would have to figure something else out.
Momma Jordan looks up the winning numbers and looks at the ticket and her eyes couldn’t help but widen. “Oh my god, we’re rich.” She couldn’t help but exclaim.
Johnny lets out a laugh. “Yes. Yes, we are.” He says with a smile.
…
...
It took a long time to get processed, and at the ceremony, various pictures were taken of Johnny, being released to the public.
When the money entered his bank account, Johnny was in the middle of the forest outside the city by himself.
Johnny looks at his phone, at the large number in his bank account and let out a smile. He put the phone away and waited.
Then, he saw it. It gathered from all directions above Johnny, becoming a spiritual cloud of bad karma. All the unanswered dreams of the people, the negative side of all the good that the money could have done in other people’s lives, all of it. It all gathered into a cloud above Johnny’s head.
Johnny let out a laugh. “Yes! Come! Give me more!” He yells out with a mad laughter.
Johnny was excited. This was exactly what he was looking for. All this bad karma and ill will looked like juicy steak to Johnny. All of it looked so tasty that Johnny was drooling.
To Johnny, this bad karma was the equivalent to giving him life. Before, he was basically half-dead, stuck at the peak, unable to go down and unable to go up. But this bad karma, to Johnny it was work, and it was life. He would have to spend a lot of time to resolve it and become right with the world. But in the midst of it, it would be a journey that would become Johnny’s life blood.

The cloud became bigger and bigger, then, when it stabilized, Johnny gathers his energy and begins to pull it all in. It gathers into a whirlpool and is pulled into Johnny's mouth before absorbing into his body; more and more of it was pulled in until the spiritual cloud began to thin and then, it was gone. Johnny’s body soaks it in like a dying man in a desert finding an oasis, absorbing it greedily.
Johnny examines his body; it felt heavier, weighed down with yin and bad luck. Satisfied, Johnny began to leave the forest.
Suddenly, Johnny felt a presence watching him.
Johnny looks around and saw a tall, thin shadow hiding behind a tree.
Johnny let out a smile. “Come out. You can’t hide from me.” He says to the figure.
The figure ignored him. It thought it was impossible for Johnny to see it.
It was a demon, and seeing that this random kid had absorbed all this bad luck, he knew that the road ahead for this kid would be a slippery slope, and that’s exactly where demons loved to be. With a little influence from the demon, there was a good chance he could drag this kid’s soul to hell.
Johnny let out a sigh. “I’d let you stick around, but unfortunately I can’t let you influence my family and friends. Unfortunately, you’ll have to die.” He says before raising his hand in the air.
Suddenly, Johnny’s hand gathered into a fist and he pulled his hand down. As if to obey, the heaven’s rumbled, and lightning was pulled down from the sky, striking the demon, causing its body to dissipate.
The demon could only watch with wide eyes as its existence began to fade.
Johnny gathers his spiritual energy once more, pulling at the demon’s figure. The demon’s figure gathered into a mist and was pulled into Johnny’s hand before condensing into a black-purplish crystal. Without hesitation, Johnny put the black crystal into his mouth and swallowed it.
“Who knew I could get a two for one.” Johnny says with a smile.
The demon crystal was not just a source of energy for Johnny, it was also another sort of bad karma, and thus another source of life.
Satisfied, Johnny left the forest.
