《Spider's Odyssey》Chapter 11: Hal 9000

“C’mon A.I just work already.” Jacob was hanging off of the ceiling in his room which was actually clean for once. He had been patrolling for the past two months, but not much of anything else besides waiting for the A.I to kick start and brainstorming the next couple of projects he wanted to start building, though one of them needed more help. He was going insane, since he knew that the A.I was just building a foundation similar to a brain, but the amount of space needed compared to the amount his laptop had would almost exactly match with nothing to spare.
Cindy: You know we were supposed to study for the test coming up?
Jacob: Wait. There’s an actual test. Fucckk, what’s it about?
Cindy: How you rising in the ranks back to number #1 and don’t know what the test is about?
Jacob: Tell me, plz.
Cindy: Homer,
Jacob: you are Ze best
Cindy: you owe me one.
Jacob threw his phone on his bed, before crossing his arms and waiting. Time went by but it only seemed to frustrate him. He tried to think of other things, Homer and the Odyssey, his mom, his brother hanging around that gang, Cindy who he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about the kiss that they almost had. He shook his mind off it, and started counting hopelessly.
“1..2…3…4…5.”
An eerie quiet came to his surrounding before he decided what he wanted to do.
“Fuck it” Jacob then connected his desktop to his old laptop, making sure the connection was viable enough for him to transfer the full data.
‘Hopefully it’s transfers well enough that it doesn’t corrupt. God I can’t wait till I get this working’
Jacob than reestablished the code, resuming it from his upgraded desktop, before he saw that it didn’t work. It was still establishing itself.
“Ughhhh.” Jacob threw an empty Dr. Pepper, to the mini metal trash can before hearing.
“What is the problem sir.” A robotic voice was heard from the garbage monitor speakers.
“Nothing, I’m just mad that my A…wait” Jacob turned and saw that It was a pulsing fullscreen that was a good shade of blue. He looked at the his work, checking if everything is fine before pumping his hands in the air.
“Yess.. Jacob-1, Patience-0” Jacob realized that he didn’t have a way to speak to his new creation so he quickly uploaded some of the neccesary data packs on his desktop to his phone, before sending the full apk to it via email. He then scrambled to his bed, throwing his hands on the bed to find his phone and once he did, he opened it his email address, before finding the apk and opening it only to have his phone shut off.
‘I guess the software remodeling is taking place, I guess for now I can write to it via Note pad on my desktop’ Jacob then heard the music coming through his ears. His bluetooth earplugs, q-pods that had microphones installed into them.
“Of I can pair them together” Jacob then facepalmed before taking them off, and putting them into the case before activating the pairing button that was next to the charging port. He then established the connection with them from his desktop, and saw them pair up. He put them back on before hearing

“Sir.” The static voice had crept on to his ears, it was inhumane which didn’t surprise him as he was sure their was more to be tweak, but he didn’t have to do it personally for the most part as it was designed to auto adjust.
“A.I, do a self prognosis and see if there are any errors.”
Quiet befell his newly operational A.I, and while he observed that the ‘beating’ blue pulses of the machine quickened but it slowed soon.
“Self Prognosis finished, No Errors found. ”
“A.I what is your purpose?”
“My purpose is to serve you, essentially making things easier for you by running and taking care of all the internal systems”
“Good” Jacob smiled.
“Hey, A.I, can you assimilate anyone’s- of course you can. A.I assimilate Scarlett Johanson’s voice ” Jacob ordered. He was surprised when most, if not all of the actors that played superheroes where in the universe, It made him think if he could find himself here but it seems like that wasn’t the case. However with some free time, he was able to watch Lucy again, and after hearing Scarlett’s voice more than once sold him on the idea of having his A.I mimicking her voice.
‘I should give it a name,’
Jacob waited for his A.I to finished, as heard his A.I occasionally speak but it took an hour before it was able to perfect the mimicry.
“Sir, is this reasonable for you?”
“Yeah, Now, drop the sir, have you finished integrating yourself with my phone.”
“I did as instructed. I sliced off all of the invaluable code, security, software, and bloatware. Once that was done use that shell of a Operating system as the basis, upgrade the security protocols, efficiency in cellular range by more than a 15%, bluetooth drivers, and downgrade battery usage with better device function.” The A.I summarized.
“15, that’s pretty good, Now access all of the databases but particular google’s, and run a compressed data analysis on the books that I previously gave you. I almost need you compile enough to understand a Master’s degree in biology, Criminal law, geography, and metallurgy and material chemistry” Jacob ordered before looking at his phone. The first thing he saw was that everything had been reset besides the files and info he previously decided that he had needed, the second thing he noticed that Jacob Davis was actually late to school. Quickly putting on his suit with a baggy sweater and joggers over it and packing the rest of his school essentials, He jumped out of the window and started web slinging through Gotham to his train station.
‘Swinging through the streets of Gotham isn’t all to bad considering that the weather is mostly a consistent gray. The real question is how I am going to upgrade this suit. It’s been a couple of weeks, and I need to find someway of obtaining a better material than common cotton blend. Could I even make the a decent amour, of course the colours will be an issue but still…. Maybe I could make unstable molecules but that will definitely be time consum-’
“Master Jacob, a call is coming in from the contact named Mom. Shall I answer it for you?”
“Drop the Master too, A.I, god I need to name you. Answer it, but also make a list of names” Jacob yelled through the wind.

“Why do you need a list of names?” His mom answered.
“I need them for a DnD session with Ned,” Jacob lied without thinking.
“Oh, is that who where you’ve been coming home so late at night, I’m glad you guys are still hanging out, but seriously you need to give me a heads up” Rio replied. Jacob remained quiet, as he felt bad about lying to his mom, but that was the first thing he thought of that would excuse his Night time activities. He also didn’t need an excuse most of the time as his mom was basically living in the hospital most of the time.
“I wanted to make sure that you were on the way to school, Since you accidentally ‘slept’ too long again the other day.” Rio pointed out. Jacob went to lie again but his mother continued.
“Please just don’t do it again. You know that being late so often will allow the board to question you’re ability to Graduate. Plus, you’ve run out of days to do nothing Jay, I know it hard for you but please try. ” His mom pleaded. The two of the remain quiet while Jacob looked over on of an apartments building. His hoodie wanted to run rampant but his backpack kept it restricted.
“Ma-”
“We’ll talk more about it tonight, your brother should coming too. CODE BLUE, where’s the nurse on duty, we need assistance!” His mom hung the phone, before he had the chance to speak.
Jacob flicked the thoughts away from the forefront thoughts before he looked around, suddenly hearing his train come closer to the station, he was about to slide down the alley to run the rest of the way but then spotted a middle aged lady walking away from the station. She was obviously more on the upper middle class with her outfit on, but she looked as innocently oblivious as could be. Jacob thought nothing of the situation but he then spotted something irregular.
‘What are those two guys…oh they’re totally going to rob her.’ Jacob thought as swiftly put his suit back on. He turned around before asking his A.I
“Are you done with the list?” Jacob asked as he started to fall, he craned his body to see the lady’s pace quickened . A man wardrobe consisted of a dark red leather jacket and dark grey jeans slowly started to approach her from the back once she strolled past before another random man in a similar outfit stopped in front of her. The man in the rear steadily pulled out a knife from the jacket before cutting the strap of the purse, ending up with them both running away.
“Fuck” Jacob cursed. He hurried. Increasing his descent by tucking his arms to the side. It didn’t help that his bag messed up his aerodynamics, but it good enough.
“I have a recommendation for a name”
“I am a little busy. Give me two minutes” Jacob stressed before shooting a web to the building. It latched before he hit the ground, and he swung, racing towards running men while the lady cried helplessly.
“I need help. My bag. Please!!!” The lady cried. Jacob gave a thumbs up but he realized she couldn’t see it at the speed he was going, but he soon stopped as he had caught up with the man.
“Hey purse snatcher, You shouldn’t really be stealing especially in daylight you know.” Jacob shouted. He swung once more to safely land before walking up to the burglars with a slight hop in his step.
“Fuck you, how about you scram, before I gut you” Burglar 1 threatened as they continued running. Not wanting to continue giving chase. Jacob jumped over, and in front of them, causing them to back up.
“I- you do realize that I caught up to you guys, by swinging right? You’re not those guys, so how about you guys give the lady her purse back, and apologize. Promising not to do it again, and I’ll let you guys go scot free” Jacob offered nicely. He even put his hands up in good faith.
“Who the fuck do you think you are…Batman.”
“Batman works in the shadow. Is the sky a shadow, doofus?” Burglar 2 bickered to the first but the other burglar ignored it before second one pulled up his knife.
“Shut up. Let’s just shank him before an actual hero comes up” Burglar 1 attempted to stab Jacob, but his spidey sense had already activated and he responded with a flick to the forehead knocking the first one out. Before the other one staggered. He was mask less so Jacob saw the worried fear come across the guy’s face, and then the piss smell confirmed it. Jacob grabbed the purse which fell on the uneven concrete floor. The sky started to drizzle for the umpteenth time for the past week.
“J-Jack, woah man what the fuck you do to Ja-” Burglar 2 stopped in the middle of his sentence before trying to make a mad dash to get away before Jacob shook his head, shooting a web wrapping up the burglars feet. He took out his own knife before trying to cut at the web. He started to get loose, but Jacob shot his hands towards his feet before walking up to the guy, and bending down.
“Wai-Wait Wait Wait.” Burglar 2 pleaded loudly before being flicked in the forehead and exiting a conscious state.
“Fuck you guys. I’m a real hero.” Jacob said out loud.
“A.I call the police and tell me your recommendation. Ugh-I am so going to be late” Jacob grumbled before, looking at the scene before him. He dragged Burglar 2 to the first before putting them to the side like you would trash before jogging up to the lady who looked to be frantically worried.
“Thank you-”
“Scarlet Spider” Jacob interjected.
“Of course . Thank you Scarlet Spider, I’m so embarrassed, but please let me-” The lady smiled as her face flushed a slight red, but Jacob ignored it thinking about his train.
“No, problem. Now if you excuse-” Jacob stopped when he saw that the train had been left. Leaving him only 40 minutes to get to school on time. He would need to the upper east side which was 8 miles away.
‘Talk about problems.’ Jacob thought at he snapped his wrists to shoot webs to a building, before launching himself up back into the sky.

Disclaimer: This is not an instruction manual. If you want to be a horrible human being, go figure it out yourself. Autopsy: Writing this story gave me some degree of insight into how much I've managed to fuck up my own personality by suppressing basic needs. Now I hate myself even more. It started as a story where the MC was supposed to be a blend of the NZ-land shooter and other cancerous personalities. That way I wouldn't feel bad about torturing him. Instead I ended up witnessing all the worst aspects of my own personality, or lack thereof. I'm a horrid person, I can't even bring myself to do what's the only right thing at this point.
