《Spider's Odyssey》Chapter 5: SInging to the Beat

Jacob made his way home way easier than he got to school, mostly because he chose to go over to his brother’s first. He was also shocked that he really had a brother and not an uncle even though it they carried the same role in his life pretty much, so much that it was hard for Jacob to really accept that he had an older brother. His brother’s name was Aaron Davis and it was given to him by Jacob’s grandfather- more Old Jacob’s than his conceptually.
‘It seems like the name is a curse, my grandfather died giving him that name. It also didn’t help when according to Old Jacob’s memories, the name was intially suppose to be given to his father if it weren’t for his grandmother. It was also weird that the family had idea that his son needed to improve upon the legacy of his grandfather who for most part was long time gang member, even falsely accused of murder at one point, but what really sucks is instead of improving on ‘Said legacy’.
‘Big Bro follows in the footsteps of our deceased grandparent. At least that what Old Jacob’s memory tells me, and It sucks that Jacob was so close cause their bond was the essentially the reason I’m here and why my soul was able to be placed inside this body so seemlessly.
What luck, but the real question is why is it so goddamn hard for me to accept the future possibilities of Prowler coming. I hope- I really hope it doesn’t.’ Jacob thought as he multitasked thinking about his family and researching which was going way faster once he zoomed out the page. Having it all closer together allowed Jacob to read faster and more fluently and because of the fact that his eye sight was so good. It wasn’t superman good, but it way above normal means.
He felt the bumpy roads as him and his brother were driving to his mom’s house, tonight was takeout night, a family tradition started by Jacob’s dad to open up communication and for him to take a break from work and to see his family. Jacob stopped thinking about other things, preferring to focus all of his attention of the words in front of him. After a couple of minutes of understanding,
He attempted started programming his Nat Lang. UI. Technically he’s splicing stolen blocks code from Palmer’s Tech device assistant Adam as well as the google assistant making a clone of both, and using Silas Stone’s research in A.I cyborg integration in bleeding edge software as well as Oliver’s Queen shell company Q-core’s technological Intelligence programs to create an efficiently sizeable foundation that can be functionally enough for the increase flexibility he desired his A.I to be capable of.
‘This might be easier than I originally figured, but I need more time than I expected to. I barely did %1 of what I wanted and operating it took a sizeable chunk of my RAM and CPU usage even with efficiently coding the backbone. I guess I do need to make it Cloud based in the future. So I need to look at how to make that as well, and I need to make sure to encrypt this computer way passed anything reachable’ Jacob started researching cloud storage.
“Hey Jay, what are you doing there. Woah that looks, complicated. Such a nerd” Aaron joked.
Jacob absorbed in what he was doing while also listening to music on his old Q-Phone 2 and Q-pods. He saw a hand, and instantly wanted to swat it to oblivion but when he realized where he was at he closed his laptop, deciding to continued what he was doing to another time. He looked over and saw his brother Aaron with a raised eyebrow, before looking at Jacob’s current place with a solemn look.

‘This is probably his first time back since dad died.’ Jacob thought before patting his brother on the shoulder, the second time it was a little to hard, but it shook him up from his seat and they both made their way up the flights of stairs and into the apartment.
“The hallway still smells like weird food and Corona.”Aaron commented before immediately vanquishing the memory of the smell before with the house’s scent of fresh lavender that was in the air. Aaron looked around until he spotted a new couch and sat down, squishing the air out of the furniture.
“Woah this way better, that that cat post of a couch we used to have. Did you guys redecorate?” Aaron asked, finding himself becoming increasingly comfortable on the couch. Jacob swiftly sifted through his brain, before saying.
“No, just this. Mom thought it was a good idea to get a couch that swings into a bed, incase guest comes over, like you-. I guess” Jacob shrugged he made his way to the corner of leading into that hallway that held his room, but was interrupted when he heard his brother call out.
“You know I still have a room in this place… Wait you’re not going to chill with me, what’s up with that? Too good for your brother?” Aaron teased, Jacob peeked his head out.
“I am not just not feeling great, plus I have a study session with a gi- I mean friend so I need to prepare for that” Jacob admitted. He regretted saying anything as his brother grinned, knowing what he meant. Aaron waved him away for which Jacob immediately took his off to his room, He stopped for a split second before hearing Aaron still had knowledge of where the TV’s remote was at. And his favorite sport’s channel, Basketball.
Jacob ignored the announcers, and opted to go into his room, locking the door behind him
‘I don’t want a single person interrupting this’ Jacob looked at the broken knob, and decided to fix it, He went into his closet taking out his father’s bin of tools and house repair items. He found one of the older door knobs that the apartment originally came with, and after a few modifications which was basically adding a lock to it from the broken knob, he installed it and tested it, After working it for a few minutes after that making sure everything was as snug as he liked it, he put his father’s tool box beside his desk, and went back inside his closet, going into his summer clothes storage bins taking out some of his brother’s old shorts that once were to big for him but now went to his knees after being a little too long.
A little bit of testing later, he decided to throw them on his bed. He took some of his new thermal pants that was made out of a mix of Nylon and polyester. He threw that on his bed. He also took a couple of his Black and Red Sweaters throwing them on the bed as well. Finally he found his uncles’s cloth blend ski mask which he had a lot of, and Shades that his father was big fan of
“I am a decent sower, but jeez this is a lot, I guess ad this to my list too” Jacob looked around, before leaving his room and finding his mom’s sowing kit. He then relocked his room door, and took a good look around. It was extremely messy, full of his drawings and art. Jacob wanted to be the next basquiat, apparently in both lives, but in his original world he ended up becoming an Electrician after 2 years of majoring in computer science, with a minor in Electric Engineering.

In this one, Jacob wanted to go to New York City to become a freelancer or go to University, hopefully being able to attend at Chicago School of Art. He sat and took out his drawing notebook, sketching one of mile’s suits with influences with scarlet spider.
After a couple of hours, Jacob finished with a portrait that was his idea of his first suit. He wanted a black red suit like classic Miles Morales, but since he didn’t have a mentor who had been doing the hero thing for a while, he had to use what he had which was a fully black plain thermal long shirt that partial sown from the back to the front where he would be able to slip in.
Over that would be Basketball short that would have a spider logo. He would also where a Black hoodie with a died Spider logo on the back and front. His mask would be a partial ripoff of Tasm where he would take some of his Uncle Aaron’s ski mask and shades lenses. Combing them to make his primitive suit until he found the time to do the red weblines.
He began to work on that will listening to his hip hop playlist where Kanye, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar took the front stage.
“We both don’t like Drake. mmmm” Jacob started singing his song quietly as he sowed before remembering his other project he wanted to start. He turned on his laptop and turned to Project Adam’s Data Retrieving and Analysis software quickly redesigning it to collect data and store it on his thumbdrive. He plug it in, and made it collect information on more A.I programs in his new world before going back to sowing his suit.
“Ain't no question if I want it, I need it
I can feel it slowly drifting away from me
I'm on the edge, so why you playing? I'm saying
….
Not for nothing I've foreseen it, I dreamed it
….
No more chances if you blow this, you bogus
I will never ever let you live this down, down, down” Jacob bopped his head as he worked, He got so into it that he didn’t realize that he was upside down.
Hours passed, and the Project Adam had already finished, He had finished a quarter of the suit until he heard his mother come home. He stood upside down on the ceiling, and got down but realized that his feet wouldn’t let go. He pulled softly not willing to tear the drywall on the ceiling.
“Baby I’m home!! Oh, Aaron nice to see you.” Rio called. His heart rate quickly rose as he mother didn’t like when he ignored her. He pulled a little harder but he then heard his favorite song come down, and he calmed down alittle bit.
“Speed it up,
Slow it down
Need Control,
Need it now
…
I will not fret,
I will not die” Jacob’s feet released and he twist his body landing on the floor sprawled out like a bug, before his foot shot up with pain. He rolled to the floor clutching his foot as he saw a needles head stick out of his foot. He winced before touching the head of the needle.
“Ow-wo-w-oww” Jacob grabbed the needle with his finger to prying the metallic stick out of him. It slid out like butter. The pain soothe and he dropped the needle right next to where it hard broken off. His gets up, and opens the door to see his mother, A olive skinned, lady with curly hair and green eyes which reminded him of his eyes. She smiled seeing him and he quickly closed the door.
‘I need to build a automatic lock system’ Going up to her he tried to poker face the sting from the lingering pain in his foot. He hugged her before instantly smelling chinese, and in that moment he had realized that he hadn’t even eaten since lunch as he was busy attending to Project Adam.
They quickly set up the plates in the dinner table and sat down. His plate consisted of Beef and Brocolli with fried rice, while his brother had Orange Chicken and his mom got chow mein. Before the started eating, Rio turned off the TV making the apartment as quiet as possible, and then holding hers sons hands. Jacob took her hand gingerly while looking at his food. Rio laughed, while Aaron flicked his brother’s forehead.
“Ow, thick skull lil bro” Aaron wagged his finger as Jacob realized that he needed to fall back for most of the people who attempt to hit him. Jacob took note of that but grin childishly at his brother for being dumb. He was going punch his arm but his mother spoke up.
“Leave him alone, Aaron” Rio called out, Aaron put his arm down while Jacob went to pick up his fork as his stomach demanded substance, but mother his hand. Learning from his mistake he didn’t end up hurting her.
“Not yet, you know the deal. We talk about our day first.” Rio scolded.
“My day was good, business as usually though Ms. Shelby has me working on some science project. I also made a new friend today” Jacob partially lied, to cover up what he was working on in the car with his brother as well as bring up what he had told his brother just incase he done something stupid like introdu-
“You mean girlfriend, Lil Jay, has a date. Mom, can you believe it. You guys raise a capably human, AND then you did it again.” Aaron teased. Rio ignored her son’s joke and instead turn her attention to me.
“Jacob Davis, you mean to tell me you have a girlfriend, and you didn’t tell me!” Rio poked curiously. Jacob’s Iris flashed a emerald and yellow flash before he smiled.
“Uh- well she is just a friend, Mom. Her name is Cindy. How about you Aaron still hanging out with those thugs” Jacob changed the subject. Aaron eyes widen before glaring, but his mother still focusing on him.
“Jacob Davis!” Rio called out. Jacob turned his attention to his mother who was looking at him smiling.
