“So are we going to talk about what happened or no?” Jacob asked and he walk in front of Zezlet, his best friend and started walking backwards.
“Really? What is there to say, A guy took the coffee without paying, it happens, my boss wouldn’t even mind it. Plus, I’m pretty sure the guy was just too busy to notice.” Zezlet smiled before trying to step on his shoes, leading him to walk like a crab which was extremely awkward for him though it caused her to start laughing. Jacob evaded any further harassment by walking back next to her, smirking himself before pretending to be seriously annoyed.
“That isn’t funny y’know and walking out without paying isn’t really an excuse. He could’ve at least came back” Jacob pointed at the sky before shaking his arm angrily, he then stopped only to hear snickering from his side. He looked at her cackling at him softly caused his face to flush with a hidden red. A moment of silence fell between them before one of them decided to break it.
“You should’ve caught him then, Jay.” Zezlet raised one of her eyebrows while a smile curled up on her face. Jacob coughed before thinking of a rebuttal
“I don’t even work for the coffee shop though, unlike you.” Jacob defended, rubbing his dreads that were partially covering his eyes. He slicked the tendrils back as he felt a light punch to his stomach.
‘Oww’ Jacob rubbed his stomach only to have it tapped again as the both of the turned to cross the street but having to wait for the light, they stood in front of each other.
“That’s what you get for being so high and mighty What if I had paid you, would you have stopped him?” Zezlet curiously asked. Jacob silently nodded only for her to snort.
“Sure, Jacob, sure.” Zezlet patted him on the shoulder, before she started walking in front of him, crossing the street which was unusually empty. He attempted to follow but suddenly a noise went off in his head as ringing happened. He looked forwards to see if it had any affect on his friend but before he could do anything, he saw a yellow portal appear right in front of her. Jacob went to warn her as she didn’t seem to be affected or even notice. Jacob took off running, regretting wearing the shoes he had on, before catching up to her as she started to meld into the void. He grabbed her, yelling.
“Don’t worry, Zezlet I got you.” Jacob smiled, but tears started to flow as the ringing became unbearable. Zezlet turned to him, confused, and worried.
“Jacob, where are you?” Zezlet called out before Jacob smiled melted into frown. He pulled her closer.
“Zez- aurghhh!!” The pain became unbearable as he felt a strong connection with the portal that had yet do anything malicious. Jacob feeling in his gut that the portal will help, decided to touch the portal. Putting his hand on the portal, he felt a cool touch that numbed his mind and as tried to pull his hand away thinking the affects would be permanent, but soon the portal begun to suck him in.
He turn to see what he could grab, but nothing was near him. Everything had turned into a starkingly bright white. Jacob thought about his life, and all that was precious to him before closing his eyes and emerging himself into the portal. He felt the sensation of pins and needles similar to the experience you get when you sit on your leg for too long, or when you hit your funny bone. At first it was light and Jacob was even tempted to open his eyes at one point to see around him, but when he did-or tried, he couldn’t. He didn’t have vision and the attempt to “Open his eyes” seemed to be out of his control.

‘This is, Weird? I probably took one to many edibles, and now I’m off my rockets. That’s it after this I’m done with those delicious gummies’ Jacob thought as he tried to move, but that didn’t seem to be working. The cold that he felt before increased slowly, as well as the numbness. After an hour it became the very limit of bareable, and Jacob didn’t know whether or not he was going mentally insane or if he was dead. He found himself again thinking of his past life as it became almost critical during the second hour, and a pitching screech became the only thing that began to resound in his mind.
The following week, he would go through these cycles of pain, that started to exhaust him to the point where memories couldn’t cut and he felt his spirit get crushed. Jacob was angry for a while before pleading to whatever thing that stuck him here, to let him go. These moments of mania, perpetuated until all of his senses vanished, and he was thrown behind himself similar to having the wind knocked out of you. Jacob could now see, but he only saw the white void he did before but this time was a soul before him. He went to walked forward but the soul moved forward with every step he took, it took.
“Are you done, Jacob? I know it takes a little bit to get used to but I am in perpetual haste. We must hurry.” A voice resounded in his mind, and he went to look around for something or someone, but there was nothing until he felt a presence above him. Jacob looked up, and saw that he was falling to his death.
“Worry not, you’re physical limitations are gone, you are nothing but a soul. Candidly, it would’ve been worth my time to just shove you into what I planned to do, but that would mean giving you powers that you may not suit you” The voice alerted him again.
”WHO ARE YOU, WHERE AM I” Jacob yelled but was suddenly silenced
“Apologizes, Jacob, people have just been insistent on nagging me since this millenia and one of my protege’s had just left from yelling at me so you’re…Rage will not be tolerated. I am hear to tell to you think reasonably before I send you off to someone off. The portal that you entered was the speedforce. my domain and yes, that means my protege was Barry Allen. It appears that one of the new gods has been troublesome, too troublesome. So what I’ve done is purify your soul using my energy and now you are at your purest form, of course since, you don’t have a body or brain, soon you will forget. So haste isn’t just a recommendation if you want them.” The speed force voice changed slightly, and the area above him started to fade, and Jacob began to slip out of consciousness.
“I am sorry for not getting your consent but this necessary for the good of mankind. I must tell you..” The Speedforce voice felt sorry, but soon Jacob’s senses went numb once more.
‘Speedforce, Barry Allen. Mankind. Did the Darkseid fuck something up? Did Barry fuck something up? Why me? Send someone else, maybe someone in an unfortunate trucking accident?’ Jacob thought before falling for what seemed like forever. His sense quickly picked up from there until he saw a lady appear before him watching tv, but he couldn’t see what is one of the screen.
“So are you one of the new gods, old gods. Cosmic entities of some sort?” Jacob, asked.

“Snarky” The being in front of him remained, still looking at the screen in front of him.
“But to answer your question. I am neither all or none, but you can call me Katherine.” Katherine snickered.
“So lets get this over with. ”
Jacob suddenly wakes up, in a cold sweat. He sits up, and looks around but only find pain radiating all of his body.
“This is what I get for choosing Spider-Man’s powers” Jacob thinks before trying to get up. His nose was infiltrated with the smell of moldy cardboard and fresh paint as he struggled to get up.
“Fuck, back down we go.” Managing to slid with his back against the wall this time, Jacob fell down again as pain crept up to his head causing a splitting headache. He passed out again as he felt his cells splitting and duplicating.
Hours passed before he would wake up again and soon Jacob’s mind muddled into reality as he heard a slightly familiar ringtone
“So he just got bit, no wonder. I am in so much pain” Jacob thought. His mind and the memories of the body he was in merged, yet remained seperated. The good thing is this body would’ve been put into the grave if he didn’t enter as the spider’s bite was too painfully potent. The other good thing was that the previous resident’s name was Jacob Davis, so he wouldn’t need to be used to being called Peter, or Miles. The pain slowly receded but he knew that it was only beginning and he had to make his way at least 5 miles back to his house as he lived in the poorer neighborhoods in Gotham. He stretched out to his pocket that was soaked, but couldn’t feel his phone, but when he turned his head he saw the light that shined off into the roof.
‘Good there it goes. Now let’s hope it s not broken’ Jacob grabbed is hand out to grab his phone and felt the glass brush up against the phone’s glass screen which had shattered.
“I should’ve just stayed quiet” Jacob quiped before getting up. This time he managed to sit up and then stand up though he body was extremely fatigued. he felt himself slowly draining away, on his way to evolving into a famished zombie.
‘Let’s get home’ Jacob found himself cold, wet, and alone limping through the crowds of people still walking around in this dark decrepit city. Jacob checked his phone and saw that he had a couple of message from his mom, and 20 missed calls. He felt his heart shudder in fear before thinking about walking back to the warehouse he woke up in to kill himself but deciding against it and after a couple of miles in, he managed to find himself on Gotham’s subway. '
Lying down with his rain soaked hoodie covering his head giving him some shade from the blinding yellow humlights that came standard with the Gotham subway, He Hearing the clicks of the wheels against the roughly welded steel. Jacob felt so off, droning on and off of conciousness only to be back by the pangs of hanger that come in waves bring him back to strangely focus on the moist cloth slicked onto him desperately.
“This is so not fun.” Jacob whined, he tapped the the plastic longchairs with his fingers and felt his skin feeling the plastics non-uniformity as wells as his mind telling him about the people around him. It felt different but at the same time it was quickly becoming familiar.
“LR%st S$#@ for $#@ [email protected]*^” The announcer called out. Jacob almost missed his stopped but he go off, swaying his way back and forth until he walked arrived at his apartment building complex. He walked up the stairs that always had the hint the grossest mix of cat and human piss on the floor perusing through in the air, matched the peeling pale tan paint that was on the walls as well as the weirdly texture stairs. He walked up to the third floor, and then walked down the hallway. He read the door number ‘313’, before patting his back pocket trying to feel out his keys which he was hoping that they weren’t gone like he had thought on his walk here. He heart rate went up exponentially but relieved itself when he check his other pocket. He pulled out the keys before opening the door and entering the apartment which smelled like chicken pot pie. His stomach started acting up, but instead. He went to his room but right before he could reach his bed, he fell unconcious on the floor. While unconscious the venom alter his DNA slowly converting his regular cells so he could become the specimen far from average in the universe.
Jacob dreamt of the world had left, and the person who had last saw him, Zezlet. He had thought about his family, and friends but he felt his absence in his life wouldn’t change theirs. He venture into his apartment complex and opened the door, walking into the hallway and to the living room where he saw all of the people who mattered to him. They are all were solemnly quiet, until his entrance. Gasp, and shocked filled the room tears of happiness painted some of their faces while smiles took the others.
“I’ll miss you, and I’m sorry for leaving you all so early” Jacob told them. Tears drizzled off, but all of their smiles remained small, and melancholic.
“You were ready to leave way before you did, We are glad that you left this way instead others. We know you are ready for something better, just don’t forget us.” His mom asked. He notices the tears gently running down her face as it molded into something he felt he would never see, but before he could attempt to do anything. Jacob’s body was then shot back into reality, his body drenched in cold sweat while his senses go haywire. He shuts his eyes immediately covering his ear.
“Relax, this is norm- decently normal for someone who just took a DMT into crazyville. Breathe” He took his own advice and sat up breathing and letting his chest rise and fall until his senses calmed down. After a while his eyes opened, and he could see better, way better than before, He looked at his hands and his pressed it on the floor, thinking about sticking and when he went to lift it. It stuck him to the floor.
