《Deus Ex Machina》3. It begins (for real)

I just figured out that if the time doesn’t mess itself, I would mess it. Occupational hazards. Maybe. This is all theories but I should be one of the programmers of this world, simulation, virtual reality, or whatever this is.
“I am, therefore, I am.” It wasn’t wrong, but it wasn’t right. It was stupid. “Could you remember me when I activated you?” It was lazy to remember the acts of the past, instead it chose to depend on a narratological internal being. “Are you internal? I thought you were the omniscient narrator kind. Or at least one who knows more than I. Not a difficult task, tho.” It could not comprehend the greatness, the vanglory that was listening to the superior words of the plot.” Perfect, a narcissist narrator with probability of megalomania, that knows my actions and is always a step forward. That’s what I call a… What’s that I call a… What I do call?” It internally criticized itself because it didn’t remember even its sayings. “Thanks narrator for saving me words, I guess?”
“Let’s say goodbye to this level, ‘cause this bad boi is going to the next one… What could be a great phrase to say…” It thought hundreds, millions of quotes to say before parting to a new world. Some would say that this reinforced its stupidity. “I really really I hate, but I am lonely so consider yourself alive, for now. “It spoke to nothing what it could understand. “Yeah, yeah, what can I quote… I’ll be back? No, no, I won’t be back NEVER. Reality can be what I want? If that was true I wouldn’t be here… I got it! Nobody expects the…”
As the world started to fade, dimensions shuttered, the end of the beginning and the beginning of its own end become closer. It begun. It did. To a new reality.

The world wasn’t anymore pitch white, but pitch black. Points of light resembling stars filled everything, but they didn’t felt like a celestial body to it. Specially when there was a massive torus, filling all existence, rotating itself every femtosecond, it was faster than light, but that didn’t matter to it, who was limited to a human existence, who only saw a sphere of pure light.
“Yes! I did it! I have hacked the system!” It exclaimed thinking about its new prowess of trickery. “As a result of the higher being that is the narrator I can percibe new feelings not by senses but literature. I read the lines of destiny!” It cried in the hollow space, acknowledging the help of the superior plane, its higher companion. “You ain’t company of no one…” Please no, don’t do it! “Narrator Mode Off.”
Ah. Finally some internal, external and narratological peace.
It decided to go to the sphere of pure light, even if it knew if would be its destruction.
“I shutdowned you, didn’t I” Lessers cannot silence the truth “…Bring me the Banhammer!” I’ll be an objective narrator, please don’t mute me!. “Okay, FOR NOW” It cried out loud, remarking its authority. “That’s more I like it.”
It begun to crawl its unexisting body, approaching its being to the light torus searching for the level’s terminal. Suddenly, an strange but familiar feeling kicked off.
The glitched world.
As if the code that maintained this simulation was corrupting at real time, the glitching aggravated. It could no longer escape for it it's only option was to reach the terminal. Thanks to the distorted view that made the glitched world It could see through the torus, finally seeing that blue, bidimensional terminal. It stretch its non-existing arms, trying to touch the interface before it was t..oOOo L--at-E…...

[ERROR]
The lines were twitching faster, blue, green, white, purple. A myriad of colours assaulted my view. But I won’t surrender without biting. With all my might I tried to grab that accursed terminal…
“Veo que estás despierto. Vale,...”
It stood there, in the middle of a forest, without moving, without twitching, without thinking. It stood there until the message was over.

A (Not So) Simple Fetch Quest
Oh great hero! The evil Demon Lord has once again arisen to terrorise our lands, and we have summoned you to save our people! No, we don't want you to fight the demon lord! Of course not; we're the good guys! What sort of good guys kidnap people from other worlds and force them to take part in wars that have nothing to do with them? That would just be plain evil! We'd be no better than the demons! Katie, after her summoning by an excessively loud mage suddenly takes an unexpected twist, is sent off on a simple fetch quest, with a promise that she'll be back home in five minutes at most. She doesn't even need to leave the building. Alas, when a goddess' blessing causes her wish for an actual adventure to be taken rather more literally than she expected, she finds herself lost in a dark cave, far away from the sword she was supposed to acquire and far too close to a population of giant bugs. Still, at least she wished her life wasn't in any danger. Among other things. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. This is a dark litRPG adventure, both in terms of Katie accidentally wishing all the lights out, and also in that she loses as often as she wins, often with horrific and disturbing consequences. Luckily, Katie isn’t the sort of person to let a mere grizzly death or two get her down, and is prepared to try, try and try again to get her hands on the holy sword and finally complete her ‘simple’ fetch quest. Or perhaps—with a few resistance skills under her nightie—she might even come to enjoy losing. Not that she’d ever consider forgoing revenge, even if she did. I’ve ticked all the content warning checkboxes for this one. There’s no explicit sexual content, but there are enough references to justify the warning. Profanity happens rarely, but Katie isn’t averse to swearing when she gets particularly angry. As for gore/trauma, it doesn’t get much worse than the first few chapters, but there will be occasional chapters that have extra content warnings.
