《Grasping》Chapter 37: Thinking

Nuwa stared at the blue globe of a planet, yet another iteration of her beloved's favoured world, Earth. However, she was not thinking about the destruction that she had intentionally wrought nor the 'salvation' that she had brought. Rather she was thinking of her 'beloved', Magnus. Even away from him, she could not help but think of him.
It was as if she was programmed to do exactly so when away from his presence.
' Perhaps he really did program me. That would make a lot of sense. Maybe that is why he let me out of Cenere so easily. Is he not worried that I would simply run away?'
Nuwa was thoroughly confused by Magnus' actions. Initially, he acted like a hunter, ready to kill whatever it was that he fished from the river of space and time. Then, he acted like a regular man, finding a naked woman drenched and sitting next to a riverbank. Then like a kidnaper who had found his fetishes all packed into one girl. A scientist who had found a new experiment. A caring father who had accidentally hurt his daughter.
' For the past thousand years or so as a husband who had just wed. What a weirdo... Could he not have proposed or something. Would have been easier to turn him down. Instead, he had to act like a proper caring boyfriend.'
Sighing, Nuwa began staring at a rapidly burning down continent on the currently still partially destroyed planet.
' Australia burned again? Damn, those humans there need to get a system laid for those forests.'
No longer caring about something that seemed to occur daily in that particular continent, Nuwa continued reminiscing about her beloved.
Over the past 1000 years that they had been together, Magnus seemed to have developed a fear of death. Despite the fact that Nuwa was 99% certain that he was well and thoroughly immortal and thoroughly unable to die. After all, if one can make other people immortal he himself should be one too.

' Perhaps I should remind him when I get back. I wonder if other beings like him also give out immortality like candy. Wait, do I even want to go back?'
A relatively dumb question, she thought to herself. Of course, Nuwa had to go back. She needed to see her dear Magnus after all. However, she could not help but be confused. On one hand, she was certain that she had been kidnapped by Magnus, yet it felt more accurate to say that she washed up on Magnus' beach and he simply gave her shelter. At least that is what Magnus had told her when she had asked him why he had taken her in.
She could not help but believe him. Nuwa stared blankly at the planet.
' It is all according to the perspective I suppose. That is something he said too. Hmm...'

The Tower at Suthsea
Yannick is out of the game. He's retired, and that suits this old mage just fine. That is, until the Archbishop summons him and twists his arm into one last crawl through the mythical Suthsea tower; a trap-filled dungeon deep in the heart of enemy territory. Completed, for now - but I'm working on a prequel or sequel.
8 218A Bored Immortal
After reaching the peak of all existence, an Ancient immortal spends more time sleeping and seeking entertainment than anything else. Stumbling into the demonic summoning of a group of college students, it follows and aids them in their shenanigans throughout reality. All in the name of boredom. —————————— "That's a nice intro," Sara praised with an upraised thumb. "I'm not so sure. Lacks personality," Lisa shrugged. "What? No, it's great!" Ashley cheered, "but you could spice it up a bit. I mean, you barely even mentioned us." "The one with the power makes the rules and the intros," Avery admonished.

An eye of which sees everything beyond the skies and heavens saw an embodying fate with reek of blood and greed. He who sees the future and yet is restrained by his own shackles of his destiny. An eye that serves a purpose but nothing in exchange for his freedom. Will he remain as a tool of his adversary or escape from his own shackles of fate? This is a story of two old men trying to free from the shackle of their destiny set in a future only to await their impending doom. This is a story of a dead god, and of a storyteller, trying to break from the bonds of the past. And as their stories go, one of them will face the events that unfold in their distant past, as the other one will unveil its mystery predicted by its future. Is it a mistake to challenge fate, after all? *** The world-building is set upon on the universal scale, with dungeon and old-style fantasy. It has a progression that follows with the consistency of a dungeon setting, although it's not what you call a dungeon, but a function of a crystal. There's a lot to take in this novel, but that's all within my intention. I have always enjoyed challenging conventional ideas. The cover is not mine, it's just temporary.
