(8 hours later)

The school bell rings, indicating school is over. Charlie, Candice, and Frank are walking out of the school through the school's entrance.

CHARLIE

Are you guys really going to that stupid party?

FRANK

Hell yeah, man.

CANDICE

Looks like it.

CHARLIE

Candice?

CANDICE

What? I'm only going for the ramen.

CHARLIE

I'm pretty sure there's not going to be any ramen.

CANDICE

I'm going to make sure.

FRANK

You should come too.

CHARLIE

I'm good. I don't really have the time for that.

FRANK

The only reason you're not going is because Logan's going.

CHARLIE

And that's not a good enough reason?

FRANK

Just go, bro.

Charlie gets upset and starts crying.

CHARLIE

You don't know what it's like to be in love.

Charlie runs off toward his sister as she's talking to her friends.

KATE

Yeah. So anyway-

Charlie grabs onto Kate's wrist.

CHARLIE

Let's go, Kate!

KATE

But I'm talking to my...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Charlie begins to run home while dragging Kate in the process.

FRANK

Wow. He's a real drama queen.

Candice punches Frank in the head. Frank grabs his head in pain.

CANDICE

You didn't have to make him cry.

Frank gets mad and looks at Candice.

FRANK

He needs to grow up!

Candice and Frank spots Logan and Josaline by the street. They walk over to them.

FRANK

Alright. We're all ready?

JOSALINE

I guess. Wait...Is she going too?

CANDICE

(irritated)

Is there a problem?

JOSALINE

If you're referring to yourself, then yeah.

Candice and Josaline fiercely grlare at each other. Frank casually walks in between the two.

FRANK

Ladies...no need to fight.

Josaline closes her eyes and looks away from Candice.

JOSALINE

I suppose it'll be alright.

CANDICE

You suppose...

FRANK

OK, then... It's settled. Off to the party!

LOGAN

How's about we go on ahead and you meet us there?

FRANK

Sounds like a plan.

Logan puts his arm around Josaline's neck and they both walk off, turning a corner.

CANDICE

I kind of don't want to go anymore.

Frank looks at Candice.

FRANK

Don't worry... Everything will be fine. Let's just go to the store real quick. I want to buy something before we go.

CANDICE

What you going to buy? Breathe mints?

FRANK

(sarcasm)

Very funny.

Suddenly, Frank and Candice hears Josaline screaming.

FRANK

Was that Josaline?!

CANDICE

Come on!

They run around the corner, but sees no one.

FRANK

Where'd they go?

Suddenly, they get hit on the back of their head with a blunt object, falling unconscious.

(Some time passes.)

Candice is slowly waking up and realizes she's in a room by herself.

CANDICE

Where am I?

She stands up, runs to the door, and tries to open the door, but it is locked.

CANDICE

Damn. Where the hell is Frank?

Candice looks around the room again and starts feeling on the wall to find a way out, but is unsuccessful. Suddenly, she hears the doorknob shake a little. The door slowly opens and someone walks into the room.

CANDICE

Mr. Breao? What are you doing here?

ALBERT

I came here for you, my dear.

CANDICE

What do you want with me?

ALBERT

You hold so much potential and conviction. I just needed to have you for my experiment.

CANDICE

Experiment?

Candice starts to feel pain in her chest. She places her hands over her heart and falls to her knees. She starts sweating and breathing heavily. She slowly looks at Albert.

CANDICE

What did you do to me?

ALBERT

I ran some tests on you and dosed you with a drug that should make you perfect.

CANDICE

You won't get away with this!

ALBERT

I believe I already have. I did the same thing to your friends as well.

CANDICE

(shocked)

You bastard! What did you do with them?! Where are my friends?!

ALBERT

No need to worry about them. They are perfectly safe. As for Frank, he failed the test. So, I got rid of him.

CANDICE

(angry)

BASTARD!

Candice charges at Albert and throws a punch at him, but he avoids her attack by moving slightly to the side. He quickly grabs her arm and tosses her in the air. Candice hits the ground near the entrance of the room, landing on her back.

CANDICE

Ooof!

Albert turns his head to Candice.

ALBERT

Just give up. It's futile...

Candice slowly stands.

CANDICE

We'll see about that.

Candice quickly turns around and runs out the room.

ALBERT

Run all you like...it's useless.

Candice is running down a hallway and is about to turn a corner until she sees someone's leg coming from around the corner. She flinches and loses her balance, causing her to trip and roll, dodging the leg aimed at her face. Afterwards, Candice quickly gets back up and sees a woman staring at her.

CANDICE

Who are you?

The woman did not answer.

CANDICE

ANSWER ME!

Albert is walking down the hallway toward Candice and the woman.

ALBERT

Kindra, she must be good to have dodged your kick..

KINDRA

She was lucky because of her clumsiness, but I assure you, it will not happen again.

Candice turns away from the two and runs away. Kindra begins to chase after her.

ALBERT

Wait.

Kindra stops and looks at Albert.

ALBERT

No need to chase after her. She's no threat to us.

KINDRA

Yes, sir.

Candice manages to find the exit. She's leaves the building and sees that it is dark out.

CANDICE

How long was I knocked out?

She quickly observes her surroundings and notices a sign on the road stating which direction the city is in. Candice runs toward the city and does not get there until the next day. Exhausted from the travel, she goes to the police department to report what she had experienced, but they did not believe her. Next, she goes to Frank's house to see if he's there, but nobody answers. Next, she goes to Charlie's house; she knocks on the door and Charlie's mom answers the door. Judie is surprised to see the state Candice is in.

JUDIE

Oh my...what happened to you, Candice?!

CANDICE

I'm OK, Mrs. Breao. I just need to talk to Charlie.

JUDIE

OK... Charlie's in his room if you want to talk to him.

CANDICE

Thank you.

Candice walks into the house and makes her way to Charlie's room. She knocks on the door, but there is no answer. Candice slowly opens the door.

CANDICE

Charlie, are you in here?

Candice sees Charlie sitting on his bed, with headphones in his ears and reading the manga Cindy gave him. He notices Candice at the entrance of his room. He puts down the manga and take his headphones out his ears.

CHARLIE

Ummm...hey Candice. How was the party?

Candice walks into Charlie's room and closes the door.

CANDICE

Charlie, there's something I have to tell you about your father.

CHARLIE

My father? Like what?

CANDICE

Well...

Suddenly, Albert came into Charlie's room, interrupting her. Candice turns around and notice it is Albert.

ALBERT

Charlie, you got the thing I sent you?

Albert looks at Candice.

ALBERT

Oh. Hello, Candice. How are you today?

Candice becomes nervous.

ALBERT

What's the matter? You look like you've seen a ghost.

Albert begins to move toward Candice.

CANDICE

(frightened)

DON'T COME NEAR ME!

Albert stops moving.

CHARLIE

Candice, is something wrong?

ALBERT

Are you OK, Candice?

CANDICE

I'm fine! I just didn't get enough sleep last. I have to go.

Candice rushes pass Albert and leaves Charlie's room. She rushes pass Kate, barely missing her.

KATE

Watch where you're going, whore!

Judie sees Candice running toward the house entrance.

JUDIE

Candice, where are you going?

Candice stops running and looks at Judie.

JUDIE

I was hoping you could join us for lunch.

CANDICE

That's OK, Mrs. Breao. Maybe some other time.

Candice quickly runs out of the house, closing the door behind herself. She goes home when her parents weren't there and begins to pack things into her backpack.

CANDICE

I can't stay here anymore. I have to get out of here before he finds me.

After she finishes packing, she quickly leaves her house and set out on the road.

CANDICE

I'm sorry, everybody.

Candice leaves town. As time passes on, she eventually joins the military and gets stationed back into the city she once left.
