《Unstable World》With Heavy Hearts

Garrett awoke again with an airless breath, seeing an expansive white void around him, a desk containing an entire universe on it, and Otris. Garrett's breath was shakier this time as he got his bearings again. He stared down at his hands, which were clean, but didn't feel that way. He held his face in his hands for a few moments before Otris broke the silence.
"Would you like a cup of math?" Otris gently slid a teacup filled with liquid mathematics to Garrett. He took his own sip in the silence of the void. Cautiously, after what felt like hours, Garrett picked up the cup and took a sip. It didn't do much to calm his nerves, but the taste of cosines seemed oddly soothing. "So, you died again."
"It was worse this time," Garrett said, finding the strength to speak.
"What happened this time?" Otris asked, setting down his cup and focusing his attention on Garrett.
"There was this pixie," Garrett said as he stared down at the hands that had held her lifeless body. "Her name was Iadre." He held up his hands, which were gently shaking. "We fought this large bird person creature, and..." Garrett stared at Otris with tears streaming down his face. "He killed her."
"I see," Otris said, bowing his head in respect to the dead. "I noticed that you seemed to be more distraught about this one's death compared to the deaths the first time you died. What changed?"
Garrett took another deep airless breath and a sip of math before speaking again. "I think it was three things. First, that I had spent more time bonding with her, so I was closer to her." Otris calmly nodded as he listened. Garrett mustered up his strength to keep going. "Second, was the way she died. Unlike Min-Tul, Jerten, and Cerezie the first time, who died quickly and painlessly, Iadre suffered. I could hear her cries of agony and I couldn't do anything to save her." Tears were once again forming in Garrett's eyes. "That's the third thing. I thought I was better and that I was stronger, but I'm not. I couldn't save her."

Otris calmly got up and walked over to Garrett, placing his hands on Garrett's shoulders. "Garrett, Heroes do fail from time to time." He gently reached around and pulled out the pouch of Helioxene that Garrett had collected. "In fact, most of us Duken expect our heroes to fail many times before they start to get things right." Otris pulled out one of the orbs of Helioxene and held it up to Garrett. "This is why we make sure that Heroes gather Helioxene; so we can send them back so they can try again." He poured out all the Helioxene into his hands and absorbed them. "Asuria has not yet finalized itself in what it is and isn't completely. As you saw in your second, reincarnation shall we call it, that those who died may not remain dead the next time you reincarnate."
Garrett wiped the tears from his face, but felt Otris's last words go in one ear and out the other. Otris sighed and rested his hand on Garrett's shoulder again. "That isn't to say that what you're going through or went through doesn't matter," Otris said. "Every time you reincarnate and all the connections you begin to make influence Asuria and how it plays out. It is said that some bonds can sustain themselves throughout a mess of time and space." Otris walked back around the desk to his side and sat down. "Learn from your successes to repeat them. Learn from your failure to prevent them."
Garrett took a deep airless breath and began to find his second wind. He stood up with renewed vigor. As he reached down, he noticed that he only had his sword and shield. The axe that he had gotten was nowhere to be found.

'...I guess that makes sense... I didn't keep what I had found last time in the timeline with Vanessa and Zerat...'
"So, with the Helioxene, what can you do for me this time?" Garrett asked.
"Well, I can give you a choice this time, actually," Otris said, waving his hand. Two boxes appeared on the desk in front of Garrett. Otris patted the box on Garrett's right. "In this box is an upgrade to your sword. I can modify it to be able to transform into a bow." Otris then turned his attention to the other box. "Inside this one is a bracelet. It will allow you to cast some minor magic. Nothing too powerful. So, what shall it be?" Garrett looked between the two boxes. "And don't worry, the option you don't pick shall still be available to you in the future, provided you bring back enough Helioxene." Garrett pondered the two options before settling on the box with the magic bracelet. "Interesting. Why this one?"
"If I lose my sword," Garrett said, putting on the bracelet, "Then I at least have another option." As he finished putting the bracelet on, he felt a soft surge of power course through his arm. "Whoa, that tingles."
"Alright, off you go. Collect more Helioxene, Garrett," Otris said, opening the portal behind Garrett. He waved his hand and a force of energy pushed Garrett into the portal.
"Wait, how do I-?" Garrett was cut off as the portal closed behind him, putting him in a world of darkness. "Crud. Okay, where's the lid?" Garrett felt around for the opening panel and shoved it open, taking in a fresh breath of the cave air. He looked down at the bracelet in wonder. How in the world was he going to use this? Zerat was the only one that seemed to use any kind of magic. What Iadre did technically wasn't magic, but some cosmic horror's energy.
He sighed and headed towards the exit of the room. This time, the hallway split left and right. After gently carving one side of a rock, Garrett flicked it into the air. It clattered softly onto the ground. "Alright, I'm going left," Garrett said as he picked up the rock and headed down the left hallway.

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds

Rise of a Scarlet Devil (Regular+Draft Version)
A young girl slain during a war was brought back to life by some unknown force millennia later. She could only remember a vague face within her memories, uncertain as to who it was but there was one thing she did know. She needed to kill that person. But she was too weak, she needed to hide, to grow. She needed to flee from the battlefield her enemy reigns over. And to do so, she needed to run eastward, towards Helios, a safe haven for those who have lost their homes in the war. And where she would grow to become the strongest Hunter under her own strength. What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.

Super Sekken (An Action Shonen Story)
This is the author’s first story ever written. It may not be great, but do check it out, and I hope you enjoy! I’m currently working on its sequel. Hope. Courage. Self-value. Friends. These all were traits that former junior high soccer champion and first year Miyuki Sekken had none of until she first walked into the doors of her local High School. Despite being a sports athlete phenomenon in her school district, Miyuki dreaded its attention, and even quit her career in pursuit of living a simplistic daily routine. This daily routine would be inevitably interrupted when she chooses to 'branch out' by talking to people. Whether it be a chance of bad luck, fate, or karma, Sekken ends up speaking to someone who was unknowingly suffering from a curse: a curse that causes anyone who tries to get close to them to disappear. Miyuki Sekken would be the next victim, finding herself face-to-face against a once-thought mythical mafia. This gang is not just any gang either, but one who is run solely by the school students of Maguro High, who hold secrets to powers unheard of by the world. How will this first year survive? Will she conquer her anxiety and thwart the gang's vicious rule? Or will she end up losing more than she could have imagined? P.S. I am not a good drawer, so I use Picrews and photo editors to get the general idea for my characters' designs. Rights to the Picrews used go to their respective authors.
