《Grand Defender》Chapter 12

I was definitely going faster, but obviously not as fast as running. The river's shore allowed me to run sometimes, but boulders would often get in the way. Crocodiles were also getting more and more common the further south I went. The first time seeing one was sure a surprise, although it didn't move at all, just sunbathed without paying me any attention. Some of the crocs were also silently lurking in the waters, waiting for something or someone stupid enough to approach.
Most of my jerky was gone now, so I decided to hunt something again, preferably not a crocodile, as these were really huge. They looked prehistoric, even.
I climbed out of the river's shore onto the dense forests, but nothing really stood out, just more of the damn crocs. How the fuck did they get there. It seemed I had no choice but to try to hunt one of these bastards, or just eat the jerky. I didn't really know if there would be a food source later on in the journey, so I decided to hunt for now. Now, these things were seriously huge, with almost no way to put it into words. They were all probably longer than eight meters, and around a meter and a half wide, or more. I jumped back down to the shore, and walked some more until I found a lone croc.
I used [Geomancer] to quickly sharper my [Stone Spear], and started spinning the dice. As soon as it started making the same noise as something that was about to explode, I released it. The crocodile was startled as soon as the dice shredded a small part of its torso, which unfortunately, did not come out the other side. I'll have to search for it later, won't I? The reptile immediately identified me as a threat and galloped at high speeds towards me. Of course, I was scared shitless. What was basically a dinosaur was galloping towards me faster than I could ever run, and of course, I knew nothing about fighting crocodiles.

The current menace ran straight to me, which I tried to avoid with a leap to the side. This maneuver cost me my footing, as the gravel didn't make for a great starting place to jump from. The croc had a hard time changing directions, kind of looking like a car trying to park in a tight spot, which gave me enough time to recover and to go behind it. Bad idea, same with the iguanas, the crocodile used its tail as a whip, although with less mobility in exchange for more force. The tail struck my right knee, bending it sideways and immediately forming a nasty bruise. I used [Instant Healing] as fast as I could while my other leg jumped to the side. It was thankfully actually instant, taking less than a second to heal, but did leave the bruise. I severed one of the creature's hind legs with a slash, causing it to hiss at me. I didn't know crocodiles could make noises, but that was unimportant. I saw another tail swipe coming within my peripheral vision, I tried to block it with my spear, but it just snapped it in half. I threw the halves into the ground and grabbed my [Stone Axe], and continuously cut into the tail until it finally severed.
I felt bad, causing such pain without actually killing it, so I dropped the [Stone Axe] and reached for my knife. The reptile let out its final wail as I stabbed it in the neck, oozing out large amounts of blood.

Will the two worlds clash or it would exist within one another peacefully?-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nadine called the waiter and eyed his moving body from the far end of the restaurant until he noticed her. He nodded his head and walked toward her. As she put a polite smile on her face; something shiny caught her attention. It wasn't clear but for a long second, she thought she saw a set of eyes floating in the air looking deeply into her soul. She was about to talk when suddenly the waiter appeared before her eyes forcing her to blink fast. She looked up at him, smiling again and then ordered two carbonara dishes and chicken Caesar salad. "So... what happened in Dubai?" Camellia said, trying to get her mind to stop overthinking. "Nothing happened," Nadine said, smiling. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Burning Tears is copyright © 2020 by Nouran Eidarous.
