《Grand Defender》Chapter 8

I finished my breakfast and looked at my creation.
This house had been built with no prior knowledge on how to construct it, yet it was standing.
It had good walls and even a frame for the roof.
I gave up the idea of having a hay bed for now, and started pushing it out of my hut.
The hay was thrown on top of the frame, then I climbed the boulder and carefully jumped onto the building.
I properly placed the hay so that it would slide water down instead of letting it filter in, in case of rainfall.
Semicircular tree bark was placed exactly on the top of the roof to prevent water from getting in through there.
And finally, the roof was finished.
I decided to check the notifications that had built up over these last couple of days.
Congratulations! You have crafted a [Simple Hut]
Congratulations! You have gained 3 levels in [Mason]
All stats+15
Congratulations! You have reached the 200 Health Milestone
You have gained a new Personal Perk!
[Instant Healing]
Tier II

Congratulations! [Mason] has reached level 5(7)
You can now choose between five Perks, only one can be chosen.
I ended up choosing [System Crafting], which allows me to actually skip crafting, as long as I have the materials.
It does require for the materials to be processed if needed, though. I can't just craft a glass vase if all I have is a bunch of sand.
The sky was dark since I woke up today, but it was gradually getting darker.
An enormous black cloud approached, dragging along a familiar scent, the one of rain.
I shoved the drying grass into the hut, the rain would just get it wet and soggy now.

Lightning spawned from the dark mass and hit the top of a nearby mountain, the thunder reaching me a few seconds later.
I quickly jumped onto the boulder with various big stones in my arms, and from there onto my hut's roof.
The stones were placed in a manner where they wouldn't allow the roof to fly off, and the hay gave the stones the grip to not slip off.
I realized that I still had no door, so I grabbed my [Stone Spear] and used it as a shovel to dig a small trench in front of the doorway to keep the water out.
Just as I finished, a deafening sound enveloped the world around me.
The raindrops were reaching sizes I had never seen before, the grasses nearby instantly turned into puddles and the dirt patches into mud.
As expected, the walls and roof were holding up quite well, not even a single leak!
The inside of the hut was looking pretty rough, so I decided to use [Geomancer] to fix the clay's cracks and give it a brick-like pattern.
This took me around an hour per wall, yet the rain hadn't even gone down a bit. If anything, I think its intensity actually went up!
The walls now looked nice and smooth, with a nice brick appearance, but I was getting bored and had nothing to do.
Except I do have something to do!
I still haven't tested [System Crafting], so of course I'm going to.
A small pebble was lying on the dirt floor, which I picked up.
"[System Crafting]", instead of a screen, an imaginary list popped up in my mind. It contained some ideas of what I could do with the pebble.
"Make a dice"
How many faces should the dice have?
Maximum of 120 faces

"Twelve faces"
You have crafted a [Stone Dice (Dodecahedron)]
A twelve-faced dice the size of the pebble appeared in my hands, it was missing its numbers, but otherwise, it was perfect.
I decided to practice [Mineral Kineticism], so I concentrated on the dice and made it float.
It was simply floating one meter above the ground, yet it was fascinating.
The way it was floating was captivating, it reminded me of a magnet on top of a superconductor.
I poked the dice while keeping it in the same place. The dice started spinning, but was slowly gaining speed.
It started going faster and faster, it looked like a perfect sphere at this point.
The dice started producing a sound, which eventually overpowered that of the rain.
I got distracted and accidentally dropped the dice.
As soon as it hit the floor, it shot at an incredible velocity into my direction.
It passed straight through my calf and tibia, stopping after hitting the wall.
Shit, shit, shit! Oh fuck, it hurts!
I started screaming at the top of my lungs from pain.
A cold sensation enveloped my torso while a hot and sharp one enveloped my leg.
There was blood everywhere. My leg, not being able to support me right now, gave up, making me fall.
I landed on my own pool of blood, and saw little red-tinted white splints on the ground.
Are these... they are. They're fucking bone pieces! Shit!
The pain was quickly eating at my sight, turning my peripheral vision into darkness.
I never thought that I would also be trying this skill today.
"[Instant Heal]!"
My leg started hurting even more, I could see the bone rapidly regrowing and the raw flesh climbing it and expanding.
Not even five seconds later, it was as if it never happened. The only evidence being the massive pool of blood on the ground and the red dice.
The pain had disappeared and my vision had gone back to normal, but the feeling hadn't left my mind.
A blood pool also didn't make things better, it was quite unsettling looking at it knowing it was my own.
I unearthed a large stone that was poking out of the floor and used [System Crafting] to turn it into a heavy pot.
The rain was as strong as ever, so I placed it outside and waited for it to fill.
It was full in a matter of seconds, I grabbed it and threw some water on the floor and pushed the bloody water into the hole where I had unearthed the stone.
I used the rest of the water to clean myself off, but I was still a bit red.
The hay pile was somehow untouched by the blood, seeing this, I sat myself down and silently wondered about what the fuck just happened.

Ur Online
Wulfric Blackwell was his name, or at least the one he'd use this time. He really had no idea what his real name was. All of his memories had disappeared after an eternity in the Void, but the disembodied voice that called herself Eve said that's what he called himself in his last life on Ur before a technical error that sent him into that place where time and space meant nothing. If he wanted to remember who he was, then he'd have to play the game. Hopefully he didn't die again too soon. [LitRPG] + [Isekai]

Fateless: The Silver Lining
It has been ten years of peace for the Union since the end of the great war with the eastern barbarian tribes, yet in the cold north of the Union's land, a new threat is looming. This time, an ambitious Lord is seeking to restore the yore pride of his kin, forcing the weakened Union into yet another unwanted war, as he ramps up the ranks of his army with thieves, murderers and mercenaries.* * *The temperature inside the forge was nearly twice as high as the one outside. A black-haired girl hammered a steel ingot into the shape of a blade. The heat of the steam was draining her stamina away, but her focus remained sharp as her sweat streamed down her face. Hit after hit, for hours, the sound of the hammering steel followed the rhythm of her breathing. Exhausted, she placed the blade into the water and wiped the sweat off her face using a drenched rag. Why are they screaming? Vatra dipped the rag back in the water, twisted it, and approached the window. Her mouth opened as her world shattered again into the living nightmare she had wilfully tried to forget. She bit her lips; it wasn’t a dream. The pulse of her heart rose. A cold sweat prickled her back. A mother was running, and a child was screaming. A torrent of smoke was emerging from the roof of her neighbour. Vatra’s eyes blinked. The mother lay on the ground, a spear through her back. A torch circled in the air and landed on the roof of her workshop. In the distance, a man wearing a banner well known to the world… Fateless is a philosophical medieval dark low fantasy centered on war, militaristic campaigns and geopolitical conflicts between multiple empires. This story follows the fate of Vatra, a former slave from the eastern Nar Empire who was raised in a culture far away from her own, forced into warfare against her will, and the fate of Lanaya, an ambitious half-angel exiled from her home whose existence is seen as heresy. As they wished for peace, both chose a path opposed to one another until their fate crossed. In this story where war dictates the law, love strikes them as a poisoned balm to which they grasp for with all their might, as it is in the darkest of times that the smallest flames may burn the brightest. * * * Tome 1 already completed and available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Fateless-Silver-Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot/dp/B09LGSH1KK Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot-100547579135891/ I will publish 1 chapter per week (sometimes 2 if the chapters are too short for my liking).
