《TeamFortress2's New Addition》Chapter Sixty-Nine

Once you had all finished lunch, you felt it strange that no one moved after putting their dishes away.

They all seemed to congregate in the living room. You were the last one to leave the kitchen.

"Whatcha doing?" You asked, a little creeped out at this point.

"Mentally preparing myself for ze worst place I have ever been," Spy complained.

"What do you mean? Are we going somewhere?" Spy solemnly nodded.

"Aye," Demo answered verbally. "We have a new place ta show ya for ya battle tomorrow." Your eyes widened.

"I'm sorry, tomorrow?"

"I'm afraid so, our boss did not like that jou took three days to recover. He vants us to go out tomorrow to fight," Medic explained. Shit.

"Um, well, I guess this wouldn't be the most rushed I've ever been." Medic smiled.

"Zhat's zhe spirit! Now, do ve haff everyvone?" Everyone looked around and nodded.

"Looks like it, so where are we going?"

"A place called Two-Fort."

"Why is it the worst place Spy has ever been?"

"Eh, jou'll see." Medic chuckled and started his way to the garage. You followed him and the others to the trucks.

You hopped in with some of the others in the back of the bread truck and together you started on your way to a new place. Pyro went with Engie and Sniper in the pickup, so it left everyone else in the bread truck.

As you took a seat next to Demo, you noticed Medic give you an off look from the other side of the truck. It'll be okay...whatever's bothering him.

Demo happily grabbed your shoulder and shook it a little, and you turned your head to find a reassuring smile. You returned the gesture by doing the same thing, laughing slightly. With a fake yawn, he wrapped his arm around your shoulders, causing you to laugh more. He joined in with your laughing as the truck started up. You stole a glance at Medic. His arms were crossed and his lips were tight, looking at the ground. He seemed strained, but you didn't want to leave Demo.

"What could 'ou possibly be laughing about?" Spy complained from the driver's seat.

"You can drive?" You half-joked at him. He gasped in a mocking way.

"Can 'ou?" You triumphantly crossed your arms.

"Of course I can. I aced my exam two years ago!"

"Zat means nozhing! Here, why don't 'ou drive?"

"What? I don't know where we're going!" Spy smirked.

"Exactly."

"Spy, that doesn't mean I can't dr-"

"Get leetle truck moving, or Heavy will drive," Heavy plainly stated.

"Fine," Spy seemed to groan, annoyed. Maybe he was just having fun messing with me.

Both vehicles pulled out of the garage simultaneously and started heading towards whatever Two-Fort was. As Spy drove, admittedly more smoothly than Heavy did, or maybe does, you decided to ask a few questions.

"May I ask what Two-Fort even is?" You started your query.

"Uh, well, it's a different type of battle. Dat's for sure," Scout started.

"Aye, it most certainly is," Demo butt in, peering over at you with his eye. "'Course, fighting for a briefcase three times in a row never seemed that special."

"Is that what we do?"

"Aye, and tha battlefield ain't big either."

"Do one of you mind breaking it down for me?"

"Uh, sure Toots. Both teams have bases where dey are connected over water by a bridge? Anyway, it's a small space. We'll show ya later. Basically, you'll be stickin' with me, seeing as we can get da BLU's Intel da fasted." Seeming satisfied, Scout triumphantly leaned back against the metal wall of the truck.

"Zhat von't be happening, Scout. Ve all know zhe Engineers set up in ze intel room. Jou'll be killed before you can even touch ze briefcase," Medic rolled his eyes.

"No way! With Strat's big brain of hers, we'll figure somethin' out."

"Like zat's vorked for jou. Strategist vill be vith me zhis time. Ve vill need zhe Uber f-"

"Like we've ever needed two Ubers!" Demo cut in. He stopped for a moment. "That's besides tha point. Anyway, I need the lass to teach her how to use the Eyelander!"

"Isn't that a sword?" You made yourself known, surprised, but it didn't seem to matter.

"And jou couldn't haff done zhat earlier during jour training?"

"Absolutely not! My job takes more learnin' than yours, Doc."

"It most certainly does not! If it veren't for me, jou vould all be-!"

"Ladies. We are here," Spy looked up into the rear view, turning off the engine. Heavy sighed with relief and hopped out of the truck.

Demo tightened his arm around you as the others jumped out of the back of the truck. When it came to be Medic's turn, he squeezed your shoulder protectively. Though you found it cute, you wouldn't exactly want to watch the two of them fight again. Not after last time.

Medic shot a look at Demo before he lab coat rippled behind him as he jumped off. Oh boy...

You sighed and stood up. Just when you took a step forward, he gently grabbed your wrist to stop you.

"Lass, I didn't make ya uncomfortable there did I?" You looked back at Demo to find his eye laced with worry. You took a moment before responding.

"I mean, not uncomfortable, but definitely worried, y'know? I don't want to see you two fight again. In a selfish way, I want to focus on making my plan more than making sure you two don't kill each other. I really don't want to lose..." you looked away, "not after last time."

"It won't be like last time. I promise, lass." You looked back at him with a small smile.

"I don't know if it's you who can promise that, but I trust you enough that I know you'll do your best to fulfill that." He looked at you with a little bit of awe as the corner of his mouth turned into a smile. Then, he stood up with a cheeky grin.

"Then are ya ready, lass?"

"Aye aye, Captain." You both laughed and hopped off the back of the truck... right into Medic.

"Oomph! Sorry, Medic," you apologized. Weirdly enough, he didn't even stumble. You looked at him to see him glare at Demo. Please don't...

Thankfully, neither of them said anything, but you could still feel the tension.

As you all made your way up and across the sandy gravel, you came upon the back of this huge, brown/reddish building. Spy held the door open for you but closed it on Sniper while following you in. It earned an annoyed grunt from the bushman.

Upon entering inside, you were met with a similar spawn place to the last battlefield. It was a blinding white similar to the Medbay. The others soon led you to a wooden-floored living room-type area with doors leading to other places. Sniper tapped your shoulder.

"Here, Sheila, Oi need ta show ya the one place Oi stand. Funny enough, Oi can't stand it," He laughed slightly at his own joke and took you through an opening to your left out of the door. There you could see the whole of the battlefield. It almost had you in awe and the wind rippled through your hair. That would explain the hill we went up.

"So you have this whole... ledge?" You asked and he smirked.

"Oi like to think of it as moi perchin' place."

"Your p-?"

"HOOT!" He laughed as his voice echoed in between the buildings. You chuckled slightly.

"I see, but I don't know if owls are that loud."

"You'd be surprised, Sheila."

"Oh. Okay."

"Uh, Sniper?" You heard a voice behind you two and saw Engie. "Can Ah steal Strategist for a moment?"

"So what if Oi say no?" Sniper smirked, placing a hand on your shoulder. Engie placed a knuckle to his lips, deep in thought.

"Hm, Ah don't quite know. Lemme think on that for a sec," he stepped away. Sniper chuckled once he seemed out of sight.

"Well, go ahead. Take a look around. Might as well get used ta it while ya can."

"Oh, okay! Sounds good haha," You laughed, slightly confused as to what that interaction was and started walking down towards the other end.

"Yo! Snipes! I gotta question," you heard Scout call Sniper from behind you on the ledge, or perchin' place, followed by a grumble from Sniper. You examined the glass in the middle and tapped it. It seemed bulletproof to you. I mean, if it wasn't, that would be a lot of glass to replace after every battle here. You continued and looked at the other end of the perchin' place. It was, uh, okay you guessed. Looked like the other end.

Suddenly, you felt a hand grab your arm and yank you towards someone. You kept yourself quiet so as to not give away fear in case it was someone dangerous, but when you looked to see who it was, you found Engie. He had a sneaky grin on his face. You opened your mouth to speak, but he placed a finger to his lips. You nodded and followed him to another resupply room. He led you down a small hallway with a hole in the floor at the end of it. He hopped down and turned around, motioning at you to jump down. Raising an eyebrow, you hopped down, tripping slightly. Still silent, Engie caught you and set you back onto your two feet. You could tell he was holding in a laugh, so you rolled your eyes, smiling.

He waved a hand over his shoulder and led you to a little courtyard area, up a few stairs, and down a few. Following the signs, you could tell he was leading you to the intel room. Upon reaching it, he finally spoke.

"Well, take a look around, Darlin'. This is where'll ya set up most often," he gestured around. "Ya just need ta be paranoid of Spies-"

"Well said, laborer," Spy materialized behind you. "But I'm afraid we must go. Ze bushman iz not happy and is headed your way now."

Groaning, Engie followed you two and left the intel room through what appeared to be sewers. Grody. Spy gave you a luxurious tour through the underground level of the battlefield, but all you could focus on was how the gross water was making his fancy pants legs wet. Blech.

"...and here- Strategist are you listening?" Spy, annoyed, asked you.

"I guess?" You shrugged. "I got the gist of the area, but I hear water rippling behind us, so we should probably get going." Spy groaned after listening for the water.

"No, it'z fine. 'Ou should probably explore zis stupid place for 'ourself anyway. We'll talk to whoever iz following us. Probably ze bushman."

"Um, okay?" This is so weird. Why are they acting like this?

You left and started swimming across the little gap between the bases. Once across, you noticed some stairs and headed up them, but something felt off. You didn't like being in the enemy base. Not one bit. Why do I feel so shaky all of the sudden? You shuddered and quickly crossed the bridge back to your base. You just hoped that the BLU base was a copy of yours. I'll figure it out later.

You explored the mid level of your base and eventually found your way back to the courtyard. You started squeezing your clothes to get the water out. You felt cold. Feeling tired and wet, you made your way back to the first respawn room only to find no one there. What the hell? Deciding to just sit down and dry off, you laid down on the bench. Eventually the door opened.

"Strategist?" You lifted your head up to see Demo.

"Uh, yeah?" You asked.

"We've been lookin' for ya everywhere!"

"Really?"

"Yeah! We were afraid we lost ya!" You chuckled.

"Where else would I go?" Demo wasn't laughing, and you stopped, awkwardly.

"Lass, the other team is here. We were afraid they had nabbed ya again!"

"Oh... so what do I do?"

"Have ya seen tha place?"

"Yes."

"Then we leave."

Getting up, Demo had you lead the way back to the truck.

"Lass, why are ya soaked like that?"

"Spy had me leave the sewer to avoid somebody? It was weird, I don't really know what he and Engie were doing." Demo's eye widened with shock.

"We need ta go, now." He placed a hand on your back and started steering you toward the truck. Helping you into it, he quickly jumped in and closed the door behind him. You sat down, unsure of what was happening. Demo protectively placed an arm around you, looking at his teammates.

"Demo, what is happening?" He sighed and looked down at you.

"I'll give 'ou a hint, I never left ze spawn room," Spy started up the truck. "And neither did ze laborer." Your eyes widened as you felt yourself instinctively curl up into a ball. They were the BLU Strategist and BLU Spy. Were they trying to kidnap me again?

"They directed me towards their base... were they trying to do what I think they were trying to do?" Demo's brows furrowed.

"...Aye, they were."
