《The Writer's Illustrator is Stuck in Cookie Cult (LN)》3.34. Save Her

I drew another arc forward, the whip blade ate at the lights that poured in.
{EROSION VALUE: HEALTHY}
So it’s like gluttony.
{WARNING: EROSION VALUE: LIGHT}
Unless I feed it, it’ll continue to eat away at me.
Hm?
The Seraph.
She was looking at me.
The world dimmed, some sort of chain inside me came loose.
I understood.
The loneliness, the torture, the pain. All of the experiences flooded into my mind.
The Rakshasa crossed both its arms and took the bombardment head on.
She parted her lips.
She tried to say something.
There was no sound. But I heard it clearly.
She leapt to the sky. Rings of light appeared before her and a hell of lasers poured down like rains of needles.
How long has she been living?
This is insanity.
I can’t..
I can’t abandon her just like that.
I turned to the trio.
“Go already.”
The bloodlust from The Seraph should’ve already been offset by me.
The male demon tugged at Trisha.
“Let’s go.”
“How about you?” the elf asked.
“I have something to take care of.”
I don’t know what exactly the angels do in their spare time but..
Turning an angel into a Seraph?
What’s more, an angel Avner cares about?
“You seriously.. you’re going to your death!”
“She’s suffering.”
I don’t know if it’s some coincidence. I hope this isn’t the hir I know in the real world.
“Avner!”
The logic behind time and space.
I don’t understand the relationship of it all.
The gut feeling just tells me that I should help her end it here.
Everything around me washed ablur as I made a frontal dash.
Pressing against the ground I lept, hitting the roof, I lept again.
I threw the blade forward. Leaving lighting in its wake, Craim Stygian latched itself onto her before she could react.

Shaken despite the indifferent expression she showed, it began to eat.
{EROSION VALUE: LIGHT}
Sparks danced, her lance bore down on me.
Defend.
The snake returned and intercepted the attack. I was thrown to the ground.
{WARNING: EROSION VALUE: MODERATE}
The giant ogre hurled its body towards her, causing an intense tremor. I almost lost balance.
The fists struck a barrier, and she was blown towards the earth.
She was unscatched of course.
But it’s my chance to end her life now that she’s no longer in the air.
I weaved through the buildings, ignoring the small skirmishes between the demon and angels.
{WARNING: EROSION VALUE: DANGER}
Light sparkled around me, I swung Craim Stygian and it coiled around the lights.
{EROSION VALUE: MODERATE}
It’s like she’s deliberately feeding me.
I got to the site where she crashed and found her looking my way.
Lasers discharged from the halo.
White feather shot out from her beautiful white wings.
The black snake ate it all.
{EROSION VALUE: LIGHT}
Her lance struck forth.
We clashed head on.
Her golden eyes reflected my own.
Sparks danced at the point of contact.
Her divine halberd diverted. My sword snaked around.
RRRAWWWWWWWRR!!
Annoying pest, should I kill you?
A red giant smashed down where we last stood.
I ran around the giant in circles and drew an entire line around the giant orge’s legs. Blood poured from the wound, subliming into red fog.
Its red eyes glinted.
Hey big red.
Don’t forget that I’m not your only enemy.
A bright radiance formed above.
She brought down her spear.
It drew a pure white line.
One smooth move to sever everything.
Such a clean attack, yet the orge managed to stop it with the black iron braces on its wrist.
Taking the chance I tried to stab Craim Stygian into its heart– failed.

An instant was all it took for red light to come forth from within its body. The explosion sent me tumbling, I crashed into a building.
Steam rose from the red skin of the orge.
{WARNING: EROSION VALUE: DANGER}
I need to eat.
I dropped to the ground and disappeared.
Reappearing behind the orge’s nape, I stabbed down.
And twisted the blade.
Eat.
{EROSION VALUE: MODERATE}
EAT.
It tried to reach over with its hand.
I ran across its body with Craim Stygian still inside its flesh, creating a nice wound across its entire shoulder.
Failed attempts, it began to shake like a dog and I was once again thrown off.
This time I grounded myself well. Craim Sygian extended and swept downwards, creating a gash on its arm.
This guy is humongous.
White light sprouted on the opposing side.
Another strike.
But the orge wasn’t able to defend in time and I saw a torrent of blood flood out of its body.
The blood all turned into thick red fog.
My view became clear as mud.
{WARNING: EROSION VALUE: DANGER}
The orge leapt into the air, propelling all that red fog away.
I saw the sky, blended together in a mess red and white.
The orge was taking her on in the sky.
I feel empty.
Burst.
White light.
I’ll die at this rate.
I kept up with whatever strength I had and tackled her who was busy dealing with the orge.
Craim Stygian stabbed into her flank. She twisted her body to avoid it from further wounds.
Oh no, it’s not that simple.
The blade followed her.
This time, slicing into her shoulder.
She swung her halberd and struck the middle portion of the blade, causing it to rebound and lose its curved momentum.
{EROSION VALUE: MODERATE}
Ah.
So she gives more satiety because she has more vitality.
She’s tastier.
I began falling again.
Now I wish I had wings or something.
The Rakshasa landed first, causing another tremor.
It roared.
[“Does anyone know from where the second Rakshasa came from?”]
[“It’s small though. I’ve never seen a Rakshasa like that. It looks more like a Seraph to me. Two different gold lights.”]
[“It’s Avner.”]
It was getting kind of annoying.
What was I here for again?
To kill right?
The itch is ridiculous. I want a one-on-one fight. Not a free-for-all.
“Die for me.”
Kill the red orge first.
I’ll savour her last.
I’ll savour her slowly.
– to my heart's content.
The pain in my heart and arm intensified. I felt rejuvenating strength course through my entire body.
Releasing the pent up energy inside of me, I drew the black blade and swept upwards.
A trail of lightning accompanied by a burst of light.
RRRAAAWWWWWWKWKKKKKHHHHHHH!!!
The ripe, pleasant sound of flesh being torn apart
The ogre's red head flew high into the sky.
{EROSION VALUE: OVERLOADED}
Damn appetizer already made me full.
I still want to eat though.
The black domain faded, replaced by a realm of white.
Ding.
I turned to face the woman who started it all.
A belle who reaches the level of divine.
To think that that elf will grow up to such a beauty.
If it weren’t for the fact that you were here, I would’ve run to escape with the rest.
I pointed the tip of Craim Stygian at her.
She held her halberd out in response.
Master.
Her lips worded soundlessly.
Kill me.
===
dotturndot: Well be damned. This part was so damn fun to write. Got chills? Oh wait, you're confused. Figured.

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
