What exactly is xe doing inside there? Don’t tell me it’s actually ‘that’? Was there no way of throwing Lucia out of my head?
Grumbling a little in my heart, I made my way out of the station.
Strolling through the familiar park, I turned to look to my right, at the apartment where Pu’er is staying. I wonder how xe’s doing.
Hopefully xe’ll get over me by next year.
I reached my house. Using the access key located in my glasses, I made my way past the gate. The lock on the door had double authentication. One was that it required a certain code from my glasses, the other was a PIN number which was only known to our family members.
I shut the door behind me, the lights came on automatically and home functions began operation.
It’s been a while.
I took off my shoes and went upstairs into my parents room.
As shown in the screenshot, aether did leave her documents on the table. Xe probably forgot to pack it.
I took it and went downstairs. Organizing the papers out on the flat kitchen table, I had Randell help me scan the paper into a PDF format before sending it out to hir.
[“Thank you so much Avner.”]
[“No problem.”]
[“If you need anything please feel free to tell me alright? I’ll see if I can help.”]
[“Alright, thank you. What should I do about the certificates? Do I return it to the room?”]
[“Yes, just leave it on the table.”]
[“Got it.”]
‘Shin. Your cabin is a mystery.’
What? Shin?
Hm?
I waited. No response.
Does that mean I can’t communicate telepathically?
For example:
How did you find out about my other name?
Again, no response.
“Did you say something just now?”
‘Nothing.’
Yes response.
“What do you mean by, my cabin is weird?”
‘I was told not to talk about it.’
Then why did you need to blurt out that my cabin is weird? Is there some secret I don’t know about?
“Can you come out?”
‘Give me a moment.’
A red light flashed along with Lucia.
“Thank you,” xe said, composed.
“What exactly did you do just now?”
“I used the washroom, what else?”
“What do you mean you used the washroom..”
“It’s exactly as I said.”
Hirs gaze demanded I shut my mouth.
My mind is a toilet? There’s such a thing?
You can’t be serious.
? I haven’t even entered the main storyline and I’m already experiencing something that feels like an entirely different story.
I have so many questions.
Let’s organize my thoughts for a moment.
I sat down on the couch and began thinking.
Lucia of Hades is a pureborn demon.
Xe needs a ship to live on.
Xe said xe’s previous vessel died, and hirs father was kidnapped.
Xe somehow managed to survive in a pod of some sort and came to approach me for help.
I don’t know what this pod thing is, but I’ll assume it’s some sort of special life raft?
Now that xe’s on my ship, or to put it in crass words: in me. Xe wants to know if it’s possible to save hirs father.
And, xe just used the ship toilet.
The epitome of weird.
With this in mind, what are the pressing questions here?
First, what happened to the previous vessel.
Second, how xe feels about it.
Only then will I be able to come to some conclusion.
“Lucia, I have two questions.”
“I’ll do my best to answer them.”

Xe was sitting on the table in front of me.
“First is..”
Gurururu..
Xe quickly held hirs stomach.
“I-I’m sorry.”
“How long has it been since the vessel went down?”
“A day.”
“You haven’t eaten anything?”
“How could I when I saw my father get taken away just like that!”
“It’s pointless if you starve to death. What do pureborn demons eat?”
“I have my own food. Don’t mind it.”
Xe took out a gem from the slingbag and crushed it. An item like a small rice ball appeared.
Xe forced a bite into hirs mouth.
Xe’s shoulders trembled. Hirs eyes began to tear up.
Xe gripped the rice ball in hand, the shape began to distort.
Xe heaved. Head dangling.
“I’m sorry, do you.. mind if I.. share my story?”
“I don’t mind. I’m listening.”
“Thank you.”
Lucia of Hades.
Xe came from the demon country Hades. Hirs father Carlos was supposed to transport materials from Hades to Tartarus. The demon who acted as the ship was Elk. He got caught up in an ambush by 5 submarines on the train.
Carlos tried to save Lucia’s life by throwing hir into a pod.
Besides telling hir to wait for another passing demon, no further instructions were given.
Was Lucia to return to the demon realm? Or was xe to save hirs father? What if hirs father had already died?
This was also Lucia’s first time in the mortal sea. So xe had a lot xe didn’t know about. Everything was foreign to hir.
And it wasn’t like I was any more knowledgeable either.
“It’s a scary place.”
“I know what that feels like.”
I recalled my first encounter with The Seraph.
“Yes. I’ve heard,” Lucia said sympathetically.
“Huh?”
“U-Uh.. no. Ignore what I said. It was a slip of my tongue.”
I’m pretty sure xe can’t read minds right?
“So what is your next move? I don’t know how to save your father but maybe I can use my connections with angels to see if there’s something like a prison in the angel world?”
Cain is an ex-angel who once held a high position. He has connections to other respected angels who hold influential posts like Eugine, so perhaps he knows a thing or two about angel regulations.
Though, it’s only a probable guess. I have no idea if something like a prison exists.
“You’re an enemy?”
“Enemy? What do you mean?”
“You’re.. siding with the angels?” xe asked hesitantly.
“More like, I’m sitting on the fence.”
[“I’ll call you right now.”]
Just in time.
“Randell, hook up the call to the table.”

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.
