《The Writer's Illustrator is Stuck in Cookie Cult (LN)》3.5. 7Seas Meeting

“Is there such a thing?” Radingo raised his brow.

I made sure to hide the information regarding Pu’er Julis. Xe was successfully brought to this world by some exploit the past Avner did in his previous life. Not that I know what kind of exploit it was.

“Could be an error by God.”

“You seriously believe in that crap?”

“If not what? The system?”

“I thought we decided to just call whoever created this angel-demon war The Great Creator?”

“Agreed.”

“Maybe The Great Creator made an error when deleting his memories.”

“You lucked out, I’m so jealous.”

“That doesn’t explain how he was able to use his hex.”

To Lucifer’s words, everyone turned to her.

“Your system just came online that day. One week after, you’ve already mastered your hex to that degree.”

“Can’t we just agree he’s used that weapon in his? You never know, right? He already said he only knows his muscle memory?”

“How about his attributes? They must be pretty high.”

“Double whammy to my heart.”

“Why that’s the case is a mystery to me too,” I said without any particular context.

“Avner, you said you were in meetings with an angel correct? Are you still doing it now?”

“Oh yeah, you told me that last time.”

To their question I nodded.

“Who is that person?”

“If I tell you, don’t kill him alright?”

“That’ll depend.”

“You can’t trust angels. I almost lost my life.”

“Those people act all kind and good natured on the outside. They snuggle up to you and before you know it, you’ve fallen into their trap. Many demons have died because of it.”

“Worse when you consider how we’re in angel territory.”

“The information is contradicting..”

“That’s why you shouldn’t sit on the fence. Avner, since you’re in our fleet now, don’t worry too much about associating yourself with them. If you find yourself in any danger, just ring us up. We’ll be there. We don’t want to lose a precious team member. Got that?”

“Your worries about being in angel territory are unfounded once you join a fleet. Angels and demons don’t just arbitrarily attack each other until they’ve done their research.”

“Explain those nut-jobs picking a fight with me in my restaurant?”

“Pitiful Lucifer.”

“...”

I felt the edge of my lips curl upwards to the silly banter.

There are many times when angels and demons are forced to meet often due to their life circumstances. Maybe they landed in the same jobs, same class, or they became neighbors.

If not for the tacit understanding of fleets between angels and demons, they would naturally fight each other. When you initiate an angel, you aren’t just fighting one of them. You’re fighting the entire fleet.

I was worried about how I needed to be friendly to Cain because I’m in angel territory. Knowing now that it was a needless concern, if Cain wanted to turn me into an enemy, I was confident I would come out alright. All I need to do is call 7SEAS for help.

Since it’s annoying for both parties to enter a stalemate over and over again, the angel and demons naturally draw a line to not disturb each other.

“Do you still meet that angel?”

“I just went to meet him two days ago.”

“You’re insane. What if he sets a trap? You’re toast.”

“What do you even do with the angel?”

“We spar.”

“That’s not a bad way to use an angel friend.”

“It’s still dangerous.”

“Avner, I suggest you stop meeting with that friend of yours. For your safety. We don’t want you getting into trouble no matter how skilled you are.”

“If you ever find yourself in a sticky situation. Use this.”

Abby took off a few beads from a chain and passed them to me.

“Careful, you could hurt yourself with these.”

“Avner, this too.”

“What the.. no fair man.”

Radingo complained, watching as Lucifer took out a small box of miscellaneous items and picked out two triangle paper clips.

“Thanks?”

“If you still haven’t. You should always keep a small container on you with all your supplies.”

Lucifer shut the box and gave it a good shake.

“If not, you can always put them in your wallet.”

“Or make a necklace.”

I’ll take their advice into consideration the next time I go out.

“What contract should we take next? Suggestions anyone?”

“Here’s mine.”

“This one, escorting tankers.”

“And this too.”

“How about this? Guarding the core in zone 2.”

“We don’t have submarines in our fleet. We can’t do that.”

“Collecting resources here.”

“Is that even an oil well?”

“Perhaps it’s a trick. There’s no way someone would put up such a lucrative commission for the demons.”

“Zone 21 has become open again, there are many fleets attempting to go for a second round. Does anyone want to try to take over the core?”

“The commission is huge. The pureborns really wants this piece of territory, don’t they?”

Contracts that were suggested include escorting missions, sentinel work, exploring a suburban area to find some rare material from a flower, and another initiative to cooperate in the upcoming war in Zone 21.

If I’m not wrong, The Seraph I almost died to last time was supposed to be guarding Zone 21. 7SEAS cooperated with other fleets to set up an ambush at Oala mall. The trap was successful, and with The Seraph now gone, it’s no wonder the demons are pumped to try again. The angels will have a hard time, inevitably.

Besides these, there were also bounties and initiating attacks on angel tankers or merchants. Smaller quests that can be done by individuals were private escort quests of pureborn demons, or dates.

Yes, you didn’t hear it wrong. Demons can use the contract service to find other dates. Renting a girlfriend, boyfriend, or even elfriend is a thing.

“You don’t want to do the tanker escort quest. If you’re not prepared fully, you’re going to get hit big time,” Randingo warned in a severe tone.

“That was your last mission wasn’t it?”

“Yeah. Some of my friends died. The ambush they launched was insane. If not for the help from the other fleets, I would’ve died. I got to witness how those in the top ten of their nation fight. It’s crazy I tell you.”

“Then this is out.”

“Resource collection?”

“Maybe someone can try to do it individually.”

“Then I’ll go, I’m free,” Radingo raised his hand.

“You’re not even part of our fleet.”

“Can’t I help out a friend?”

“We’re not going to accept your application any time soon even if you did this.”

“I know. Let’s split it fifty-fifty. It’s free money, just dispatch me.”

“Your fleet is going to kill you if they find out.”

“Nah. The rules are pretty lax. Tax doesn’t exist here,” he shrugged.

“Ain, you take this one with Radingo.”

“Roger.”

“How about this reattempt?”

“I don’t think we should get involved in it without our admiral.”

“Alright.”

“Who’s the admiral?”

“Oh right, you don’t know about it. The admiral 7SEAS is Miss Lowe, she’s on a business trip. And, she’s also my boss. She owns this franchise,” Lucifer tapped on the table, and pointed to the ceiling.

Wow.

“Abby had the same reaction when xe heard it last time.”

“Who wouldn’t?”

The contracts that were decided on were the resource collection mission, the investigational mission for a suspected behemoth class UAB, and the tanker escort mission which we were against previously.

Itto said that he’ll take charge of the tanker mission.

With that, the contracts for the next two weeks have been decided.

As a side note, Levi barely said anything throughout this entire session. Just sat there, enjoying hirs basket of golden fries while we decided on which contract to take.

dotturndot: Yeah, the guild aspect of things in this world is kinda weird. You have all sort of competitions and stuff (I don’t even know how I’m supposed to fit all of this into the tight schedule of the school arc in the later volumes hahahaha–)

On that note, during the time of editing, I’ve received a number of critiques about how confusing my writing actually is for a lot of readers. Though I wrote it with the intention of onboarding those that are experienced with reading, I still feel doubtful if veteran readers can understand half of what I’m trying to explain. (Hell, I don’t even understand some parts myself)
