Writing to you in this work is Shin Dew.

Fate.

It is solace for those that seek salvation from battle; It is also an incarceration in which people find themselves in.

Life begins when we are born. Each person is given a unique gift from birth, a power which to better the world with. Along this growth journey, there will come a time when one has to make a decision.

Will you go with the wind, or fight against it?

Neither side earns the title of best. Both come with their unique struggles, pains and difficulties.

What is it that you want in life?

Do you need what it is that you want in life?

Will you pray and despair against the wind that brings you to the unknown?

Or will you beat blood and tears towards the path towards your dream?

Does one even have a choice?

If you are on a raft out at the sea. Is there any point in making an effort to paddle? Knowing that the sea currents decide your route no matter how desperate the efforts?

Perhaps one could learn to use the currents to your advantage? Could one even embrace the precariousness through observations alone?

A raft at sea, no clear direction in mind. Drifting along, resting. Death awaiting should the food run out?

A raft at sea, land aho! Struggle and desperation, caught by the wave, the raft drifts away. Death awaiting should one lose hope?

Flow with the wind or fight against it?

I battled with the question.

As a child, I always wondered what was the point in studying?

To get a good job they say.

To earn money they say.

To survive they say.

A raft at sea, go west for there is land.

Some reach land, others find naught.

Is that all there is to one's journey in life? The hope for certainty and security?

A ship is made for the sea, so what purpose does it serve staying at the harbor?

I was lost in life. Letting the wind carry, I looked upon the blue sky above.

I watched the clouds drift.

Day to night; night to day.

Winter to spring; spring to winter.

Thinking that my days of such unconcern will pass till the end of my existence, my raft bumped into another.

I looked up.

“Follow the wind or fight against it?” the rafter asked.

This rafter sought other paths and ventured into the unknown.

Confused. I remained silent.

Seeing the rafter deftly maneuver against the waves, a fire was lit inside me.

I picked up my paddle and followed.

Out of inspiration and desperation; I tailed the rafter who took me to see the world.

To land.

To the edge of the world.

To adventure.

Till death do us apart.

I will never forget that day.

The most important day.

The day I met her.

So I ask again.

Follow the wind or fight against it?

“Fight,” I say.

dotturndot: In my experience, both are thorny paths. You could even mix it up if you want. But that’s on you. Which do you choose? Will you let the wind take you? Or will you fight?
