《The Slayers Of The Seven》XII - The Kingdom Of Sela Beginnings

[Bud's POV]
"Before we dive into learning how to read, we should first learn some history! Since you say you are only two you probably have little to no knowledge of history, actually… How are you even two? It makes no sense to me because you have the body of a grown man”
I shrug “I don’t know what you mean, I am two. I was born just like any human”
“That being?” Aldrich raised an eyebrow at me.
I felt my cheeks go hot, “So… Well… When a man gets really mad at another guy and casts a spell on a chair, a human is made!”
“What” Aldrich's voice dropped into a flat reply.
I shout, “When a man gets really mad at another guy and casts a spell on a-”
“Yes! I heard you! But that makes no logical sense! How does a chair turn into a human?” Aldrich yells back.
I shrug and Aldrich fires his hand into his face and shoots his other finger up, "I suggest you take a seat, and don't touch any of my books, this is going to be a lecture about some history of Sela".
I sat on the floor in front of Aldrich and he claps his hands together and closes his eyes,
"We will start from over 2000 years ago, many races lived all across the lands of Ruxriel, but the dominant race here in the region that is now called The Kingdom Of Sela were Snow Elves. Humans in the west were facing a large disaster from famines to hurricanes so many of them seeked refuge in the lands of where the Snow Elves lived.
The Snow Elves accepted the humans with open arms and gave them a large plot of land to even live in, for a long time the humans and Snow Elves lived in harmony, trading with one another from time to time. As time would go on, the leader of the Snow Elves who allowed the humans to live there perished and his son became the next leader.

The son, Virion Adris, hated his father for allowing them to give up their pure lands to the humans. He also had a huge paranoia that the humans were getting too strong and wanted to kill them all before they would kill them”
Aldrich went quiet for a moment and looked at me, “Bud, what would you do if you were attacked by a friend?”
“I would attack them back!” I quickly replied
Aldrich nodded, “I see. Virion Adris launched a brutal attack that the humans were not expecting, for a small while the Snow Elves were cleaning their lands from the humans until the King of the humans, known as Ivan, launched an ancient power known as The Enlightenment Orb, the King used it to grant him and his top 20 soldiers some sort of ancient powers that turned the tide of the entire war”.
Aldrich paused and looked at his hands as his voice became a bit unsteady, “Those 20 soldiers would slaughter thousands of Snow Elves, burnt down homes and broke families apart… Raped and murdered for fun… They would have contests in cities to see how many snow elves they could kill within a time period…”
“That’s horrible…” I whispered seeing Aldrich’s eyes darken.
“The thing that finally stopped their rampage was when they declared the war was over after they had Virion Adris’ head in a basket, those 20 soldiers were declared heroes, and the king was put on the gold coin and made the Kingdom Of Sela.”
Aldrich flicks a gold coin to me as I see a side of an older looking man with a beard, “After the war Snow Elves were placed into slavery and were treated unfairly for almost 1900 years”.
“What happened after those 1900 years?” I asked.

Aldrich leaned back into his chair and said “Genocide. The 32nd King Of Sela ordered mass killings of Snow Elves, it is thought the reason why the king did this is because he thought a Snow Elf murdered his wife and child. Not everyone in Sela accepted the mass killings, like a man that went by, ‘The Sage’”.
“Who was this Sage?” I asked.
“Sadly, we only have a small amount of history about him. But what we do know is that he was probably one of the greatest magic casters seen in history, being able to cast spells all the way up to the 10th tier. We also know that he fell in love with a Snow Elf named, Verrona, and had a child, where the child went… No idea”
“But back to the subject at hand. The Sage and Verrona led a rebellion against Sela, they had 9 powerful leaders in their rebellion, and were winning. It even led to change where Snow Elves were finally free, but The Sage wanted to change the entire country from the ground up, to become a more free and happy country. The King refused The Sage’s demands and brought out the power of The Enlightenment Orb to combat the rebellion force, wiping out half of the rebellion”.
“So how does The Enlightenment Orb work?” I ask.
Aldrich shakes his head and shrugs, “I’m not too sure. That’s lost in time, legends say that it is some sort of wish granter. The Sage hid the location of it in the Primordial Scrolls which are scrolls that have been with the creation of man, reading one gives you tons of forbidden knowledge that blinds you permanently. The Sage hid the Primordial Scrolls after The Sage killed the King and disappeared”.
“After the Sage disappeared, Verrona and many of the other high ranking officials in the rebellion went insane, and became what is now known as the Lucifmal Cultists, that’s all the history I know up to that point, I’ve been stuck in this library ever since”.
“Were you alive then? You don’t look like an old man” I say.
There was knocking at the door of the library, I turned my head to see a light blue skinned elf peeking her head into the library, “Ahem, I’m sorry to interrupt. But Constantine would like to see you Bud”.
“But I was going to learn how to read!”
“We can start learning how to read later, Bud,” Aldrich waved to me.
I begrudgingly got out of my seat, making a huge scene by sighing very loudly and dragging my hands across the floor. Finally, I walked towards the light blue skinned elf who looked a little sorry for the interruption.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
