《The Slayers Of The Seven》IX - Aftermath

[Mansoon’s POV]

After Hammerhead’s capture and Presto got his journal, it didn’t take long for the city’s chaos to die down. Probably all thanks to the The Dragon Sword Priest.

I sighed, the encounter with The Dragon Sword Priest could have been bad. I’ve always heard that Sword Priests could sense evil in a person’s soul. Maybe I would have to thank Hammerhead for causing such a commotion to make him ignore me.

I looked around me, and I walked into an empty alleyway to escape the public eye.

Good time to report in.

I reached into my backpack, holding essential items for survival and assassinating. My hand grabs onto a smooth hardcover book and I put it in front of me. I flip through the pages that are littered with spells that I study, until I go onto an empty page. I pull out an ink pen and write,

“Hello boss, this is Sword reporting in”.

White letters appear below saying,

“Hello Sword. Report”,

“I have successfully gathered information about The Enlightenment Orb and dispatched the target. I have learned that the location of the Orb is hidden though the Primordial Scrolls, however getting this information may have compromised us. I suspect a noble may know that I have assassinated the target. I have yet to dispatch him. My owl servant is searching the city for him as we speak”.

Green text appears that I recognize as a different member in our group called Savant,

“Ah, so my theory of the Primordial Scrolls hiding that Orb was right. We should make War and Divination pay a visit to those Primordial monks”.

A bright angry red that writes in loud annoying letters,

“YOU AIN’T TELLING ME TO DO SHIT NERD”

I could only recognize that as War himself.

The white text appears once again, clearing all the other words from the page completely.

“Silence fools. Good job on collecting the information, Sword. Be hasty with finding this noble. But before you kill him contact me who this noble is, I’m a little curious”.

I close my book and give a sigh of relief, the boss took that better than I thought. I expected to go up in flames at any moment. He was most likely giving me a second chance for my screw up.

[Baldr’s POV]

Saaxol and I went out into the city together, both of us had no idea where we were going to stay for the night because of our lack of money.

Thanks to whomever I was for being dirt poor.

While Saaxol and I were looking around for a place, he looked at me,

“Say, elves don’t have to sleep, right?”

I did not know the answer to this but I thought for a moment, “Uh… Yes they don’t need to sleep”

Saaxol hopped in front of me and tilted his head slightly to the right, “Then why are you helping me look?”

I stared at him for a moment, I was an elf? I reached to touch my ears and felt it curve up into a point. I had the tan skin of a human, how am I an elf? My mind went blank for a moment, OH! I’m a half-elf. But I don’t need sleep?

“I uh… Just wanted to be your friend” I blurted out as I continued to pet my pointed ears.

Saaxol’s eyes widen and his mouth curves up into a large grin. I see him jump up out of nowhere and cheer, “YES! I WILL BE YOUR FRIEND! Also, I do have a place where we can stay for the night!”

“Oh… Splendid!” I say as Saaxol starts rushing off away from the dirty city into the forest.

I follow closely behind him, expecting to be some sort of secret abandoned cabin but instead he stops and sits at the base of a tree. He touches the ground and a green glow comes from it making two rectangular moss blankets. He covers his legs in one of them and hands me the other. I politely cover myself in the flaky moss blanket.

“This is how I live most of my life! The forest is a very nice place!” Saaxol cheerfully says.

“I see” I scratch myself from the flaky moss. This moss blanket feels horrible on my skin but probably wonderful on Saaxol’s scaly skin. I don’t want to be rude to my new friend so I'll try to deal with it.

Saaxol yawns, “Say, where are you from? Why come to Qork?”

I chuckle, “Well, I don’t really know…” Saaxol tilts his head at me as I continue, “I kinda just woke up here, with no memories and the only clue of who I was, was left on the back of the lute”

I pull out my lute from my backpack and show Saaxol the back of it with the letters, “B-A-L-D-R” carved onto the back of the lute.

Saaxol touches the back of the lute, feeling the letters, “Maybe you were a bard like Bud? I can help you find out who you were! We are friends now after all”.

I smile, “That would be nice”.

[Bud’s POV]

I start looking throughout the city, trying to remember where that damn Presto shop is… It’s going to be almost impossible since I can’t understand the moronic, halfwitted, strange symbols. I kick a wall. This is going to take me all day to find the shop again!
