《Another Death》Chapter 35 - The king's request

The group was slowly leaving the village, exchanging small talk on the way, when a chariot stopped next to them, turning around, they saw that the charioteer was none other than Grisha, the lonely old man who rode them to school.
"Hey, it's you kids" he said "how have you been?"
"We have been fine, mister, and what about you?" asked Andrej.
"Ah, there is only so much an old man can do, where are you going if i may ask?"
"To the capital" replied Ivan.
"I see, do you need a ride? I'm going there too. It will be free of charge"
"Yes" they all said with zero modesty, and quickly entered the chariot's cabin.
"By the way, who is that short lady with you?"
"Don't call her short!" warned Ivan.
"Yeah, she can be aggressive" added Katarina.
"You better watch your tounge, i'm older than your great-grandfather" Azra said angrily.
"Whatever you say, grandma" Grisha said.
"I have a name, and it's Azra"
"Good for you"
The ride continued in silence, until the group arrived at the adventurers guild, a small wooden building near the king's castle, the group entered the building, the inside was clean with a small bar with many people, mostly drunks, and a small pult for accepting quests.
"Woah" said Ivan in awe.
"Just don't lose yourself" said Katarina, but Ivan was already drinking with some random people.
"Go on without me, i will catch up with you when i'm done here"
"Ugh, what a moron" said Anya, and they went to register their group.
"Good evening, what can i do for you?" asked the woman working at the pult.
"Good evening, we would like to sign up our own guild" said Katarina.
"Ah yes, most certainly, please just fill these papers and…" the girl looked at Andrej for a moment, then looked on a paper in front of her and asked.

"Hey you, are you Andrej Antonov?"
"Huh? I mean yes t-that's me, how can i help you?"
"His majesty the king requests your
attendance, your friends can come too"
"The king wants to see me, but why?" Andrej said.
"I don't know, anyway follow me, i will lead you to him"
The group then followed the girl through the quiet halls of the castle, which were long and tall like a labyrinth, until they arrived at the throne room, where on a throne sat an old man, looking like he could barely stand, but his majestic presence gave the aura of a tremendous amount of power.
"Good evening, your majesty" all four of them said and bowed.
"Good evening brave adventurers, i called you here because you fought against the demon god Karna and managed to come out alive" the king Triglav said, his voice soft and soothing.
"Is she really a demon god?" asked Katarina.
"What are you talking about?" asked Anya.
"Don't worry, i will explain later"
"You didn't know, she is known as the goddess of tears and funerals, but anyways, my request is clear, do you wish to join my battalion and fight against the demon gods, you have already proven the strength to do so" Triglav said.
"Yes, your majesty" They all said in unison.
"Good, all training grounds will be open for you, you're dismissed now"
They soon left the castle, and returned to the guild, there they saw Ivan drinking intensely with a random man.
"Hey you guys, where have you been?" he asked, visibly drunk.
"The king called for us, you were supposed to come too" answered Andrej.
"I see, my bad, i will apologize once i beat this dude" he said and chugged a glass of beer.
"What an idiot" commented Anya.
"Cheer on me guys, or else i will lose"
"Whatever you say"
They spent the rest of the night drinking and having fun, and even for just a drunk moment, they returned to their happy lives.

Midara: Requiem
"When the alternative is extinction, all acts, no matter how heinous, are permitted." The story of a little necromancer who only wants to play with abominations against all that is holy dollies and her horsey, Mister Clackybones. Welcome to the novelization of one script I designed for a video game setting I call Midara (I selected the name of a genus of moths for symbolism purposes, not to be confused with anything else). Once upon a time, I dreamed of the setting being the next Final Fantasy. Long story short: Nope. Requiem itself is meant to be an Open-World RPG which adapts to the choices of the player. This is just one of many, many paths that one might follow in Requiem's gameplay, if it ever becomes a game.
