Chapter 124: Dungeon Hunt (Part 1)

"Alright, so...do I have to explain the basic rules and the rank tiers on the Adventurer's Guild for these two ladies, Comrade John?" - Maybe I should pay attention to hear Cily this time, I had skipped this thing when I was in Swei town

Then Cily started to explain to us about the Adventurer's Guild, the Adventurer's Guild was formed with the purpose to give dangerous jobs to the Adventurers - The people who loved to adventure.

The missions of the Adventurer's Guild were about killing monsters, helping the people, the Adventurers could be considered Mercenaries but Mercenaries did the duties for the nobles during wars.

While the Adventurers did the duties to serve the people, they worked for the society's affairs by having money from the people in exchange to save them. Killing monsters that were a danger to the people in villages and towns or doing the job doing the common people's work or escorting the people to help them in exchange to earn money.

The Adventurer's Guild's Rank tiers were ranked from the lowest rank - G Rank to the top rank - S Rank.

The G Rank: The Adventurers can only do the quests relate to helping the farmers like helping them to collect fruits or plants to make medicine.

The F Rank: The Adventurers now can do the quests to hunt low-ranked monsters like goblins or wolves, the monsters' body parts that are being collected by the Adventurers to prove they killed them would be able to convert to money.

The E Rank: The Adventurers can be allowed to get to the dungeons to do the quests, which places that Cily said to us were the remnants of the war 500 years ago. The Adventurers can only be allowed to kill the low-ranked monsters inside the dungeons and they can do the higher quests to kill high-ranked monsters in the forest.

The D Rank: The Adventurers from this Rank can be qualified to become the lords' bodyguards, they can be able to live wealth if they are willing to follow, the Adventurers may now do the quests to kill high-ranked monsters inside of the dungeons.

The C Rank: The Adventurers are now can take the quests to eliminate the very threatful monsters that can be considered to be the threat to the entire towns or cities.

The B Rank: The Adventurers can take the quests to eliminate the threatful monsters that can be considered to be the threat to the entire country or a very big region.

The A Rank: The Adventurers may be qualified to become lords, they may now be able to do the quests in the other continents like the Elf's - Beast man's continent.

The S Rank: The Adventurers can travel to Dwarf's continent and Ashura continent to do the quests there but only farthest to Ashura, no one can be able to step on the Demon's land without the Demon Lord's approval.

Alright, so we were now about to head to a dungeon, that quest was about killing 15 goblins and 3 orcs to exchange 6.000 Gels, not a bad price and this quest was placed at E Rank so I would be able to do it.

"So... any more questions, Comrades?" - No, Cily! We have had enough things to ask

"That's all I want to know, Lady Cily." - Reimi said to Cily

"Let's head to the dungeon and slay some monsters, Commander!" - Wait for me a bit, Sarah!

"Maybe that's all I want to know, Comrade Cily, do you two mind seeing the quest?"

"Yes, Sir Rigen."

"Of course, Commander."

Then I gave Sarah and Reimi the quest paper that I picked, they read the quest and then Reimi looked at me as if she was disappointed in me or something, Sarah was a bit excited, didn't know what to say.

"Sir Rigen, you said you would choose an easy quest for me but why did you...?" - Reimi, talk and do are two different things that I cannot do the same

"I'm sorry, Reimi! But endure this time, I promise the mission won't be hard for you."

"If you say so...Sir Rigen...sigh." - Reimi seemed disappointed

I had already scanned the area map of the dungeon, it was not so far from this place, we were now walking together while heading in the direction of the dungeon. Sarah seemed very excited because she was now grabbing my hand to see Advisor's screen to know how far we were until we could get to the dungeon.

Reimi was quite a bit cautious even when we were going together, she kept looking around as if she was cautious about something, I hope Reimi was fine.

"What's wrong, Reimi?" - I asked Reimi

"Nothing, Sir Rigen! As Her Highness's guard, I must be sure that no one can hurt you so I must stay guard even when we are walking safely together." - Sigh...Reimi!

"Commander, go faster for me!" - Sarah was quite frustrated when we were walking slowly to the dungeon

I immediately squeezed Reimi's ass by heading my hand behind her, Reimi seemed very unpleasant when I was doing that to her, maybe I would threaten her a bit to keep her staying with me.

"If you dare to leave me then you will know your consequence, I will report this to Princess and she will believe that you seduced me to love you, you will know what is pain, Reimi." - I would use Shera to threaten Reimi

"Her Highness will not believe what you say, Sir Rigen." - Sarah was the one who was taking the lead and the two of us were talking very low to each other so that silly girl didn't know what was happing behind her

I looked back and...where the fuck was Sarah? Where did she go? Okay...that silly girl went away from us and now was standing forward to us from far away. Sarah seemed to notice our disappearances so she immediately looked around and then she saw me, Sarah later ran back with all of her frustrations as if to ask me "Why did you two so long!"

"You two please pay attention, hmmph!" - Sarah immediately grabbed my hand and pulled me to go with her while Reimi was going behind us, Reimi saw I was away from her so she also increased her speed to keep up with us

We have gone to the border gate and a Warsaw guard came up to us and raised his hand as if to ask us to let him see our cards, we immediately grabbed our Adventurers' cards and gave the guard.

"Understood, good luck on your journey, people." - The guard after examining our cards, he gave them back to us and then we went through the border gate and went to the forest

We were now heading to the dungeon together while going with each other, Reimi seemed to be scared of me but she kept following while keeping her normal face to Sarah when that girl looked at her. The way for us to go inside the dungeon was not so far anymore, only a few minutes left until we got there, we must go there fast.

"Ah, Reimi - chan, can you tell me about the dungeon things? Cily said those places are the remnants of war or something like that." - Sarah asked Reimi when she was holding my hand to go to the dungeon

"Of course, Lady Sarah and Sir Rigen, the dungeons are one of many remnants of the war from 500 years ago, they were the spawning areas of monsters, which were from Damon - the previous Demon Lord."

"The Demon Lord created underground bases with many underground floors, the crystal was placed on each floor to create different monsters like slimes, goblins, orcs and the other monsters."

"Those monsters are not so intelligence so they can be considered to be not well-trained troops but very effective and dangerous in numbers, they are created by the crystal."

"Only when the crystals are broken, the spawn progress would be stopped, the dungeons are placed guards outside to guard in case the monsters are too many and can even get out though that is rare."

"As I could remember when I was learning in schools, the Adventurers get to the dungeons to clear the monsters and the crystals but the dungeons are very deep and the dangerous of monsters would increase each floor when you get down."

"Okay, Reimi! Now let's go...ahh! We got here, let's get inside!" - We have finally got to the dungeon's entrance

The entrance had two Warsaw Royal Guards who were guarding, they saw us but they didn't make any move, the three of us later walked toward them and a guard raised his hand out as if to ask us our Adventurer's card.

We took out our cards and handed them to the guards, they examined our cards a little bit and then returned them to the three of us.

"Good luck in the dungeon, people! This place is not well visited so this is a good place for the recruits to train themselves." - The guard said to us

"You people are the recruits, right?" - That guard asked us again

"Yeah, what's wrong?" - Though I had already become an Adventurer before but I mostly did the normal quests

"Remember to watch out for the other Adventurers when you head to the dungeon, you should have equipped better next time, you guys even didn't carry a torch or many bags to collect the monsters' body parts." - Tch, I forgot!

"Don't worry, we are always ordered to provide free stuff for the new Adventurers and the people who always forget to prepare, wait for me a bit." - That Warsaw guard opened a crate beside him and took out 6 brown bags and 4 torches and gave us

"Thank you, guards - san." - Sarah and Reimi took the bags and the torches

"Thank you very much, guards." - I thanked the guards

"Most of the safe floors inside are lighted up by the torches that hung by the previous Adventurers but this place has been not visited for a long time so we have to light the turned-off torches, good luck."

"Let's go inside, Commander!" - Sarah said to me so all of us walked inside after waving our hands to goodbye to the guards

"All of you, helmets on." - I said to Reimi and Sarah and the three of us wore the thick leather helmets that we bought in the weapons shop

I must form the fighting line now, I would be the attacker who led the way by using the sword and the bow. Reimi would be the defender who assist me in the combined guerilla attacks while Sarah would be the collector, she only needed to guard behind and collect the monsters' belongings.

"Reimi, I will take the lead, you go beside me to assist me, Sarah will guard behind, you only need to collect the monsters' body parts, alright?"

"Alright, Commander."

"Understood, Sir Rigen."

"Keep your voice low when we head to the dungeon, we will kill the monsters silently, alright?"

"Roger that."

"Understood, Sir Rigen."

We immediately headed to the ground floor of the dungeon, the place was dark but had many torches that were hung around to light up the place so this floor was very bright. Three Adventurers wore iron armors, they were sitting around as if to rest, around them were 6 blue and green creatures that looked like slime but why they didn't kill those monsters?

I immediately drew my sword and then headed to green slime and was about to stab it to death.

"Hey, hey, what the hell, man? Stop!" - An Adventurer in the iron armor asked me

"They are monsters so they need to be killed, right?"

"No, man! Slimes are peaceful monsters, they only clean the waste and even clean our dirty clothes, we love them, maybe you people are first coming here so you didn't know."

"That's so?" - I returned my sword to its scabbard

"Eh...so kawaii (cute!)! Can I make them my pets?" - Sarah asked the Adventurers while patting the slimes' heads around her, she seemed very favorite them

"Don't know, we heard these slimes eat waste to survive, we never get them home to make them our pets but will get here to visit them and to give them wastes to let them eat."

"Oh, my hands got through their bodies, so soft and so cool, hehehe, these slimes - chan are so kawaii." - Sarah's hands got through the slimes' bodies

"Those slimes are safe, Sir... I mean Sir John." - Reimi suddenly called me Sir John, maybe she avoided calling me Rigen to stop drawing attention to the people

I later saw a big slime, this one was big as a human body and it was jumping toward us, this one...seemed very dangerous!

"Oh, big boy! Get here." - A bald Adventurer from the group immediately ran and hugged the slime, his body later got through the slime and I saw the dirt in his armor had been cleaned

"Hoho, staying in a slime's body is not a bad idea, very cool and comfortable, goodbye, little boys and big boy over there, goodbye." - Those three Adventurers later stood up and then walked outside, they wanted to leave?

"You guys are leaving or what?"

"Yeah, we have done hunting here so we are going out, good luck in there, anyway...please be careful." - A woman Adventurer said to me

"Why?"

"We heard the information that a serial killer who was a former Adventurer, he is armed with a magic stick and a knife, that killer is staying somewhere on the dungeon's floor, the lastest rumors said he is in the 16th floor."

"Please step only to the 5th floor and go hunt and then get out for safety, we only dare to step to the 5th floor and then get out, good luck." - All of the Adventurers got out of the dungeon

Thank for the report...I would intend to head my group down the 6th floor and then get out of here, we only need to kill 15 goblins and three orcs.

"Let's go, uh...what the fuck!" - Sarah was now staying in the big slime's body, she seemed very happy

"Yeahhh! So soft and so cool, this fat boy is so kawaii! I want to stay in here forever, hehehehe." - Reimi was now pulling Sarah out of the slime so I only headed there to pull her out

"Ehhh, I was enjoying, stop! Please let me stay with it for a bit longerrrr!" - I must be strict with Sarah or this dumb girl would make our group get killed

We later grabbed Sarah and pulled her with us to the 1st underground floor, I think so! This place seemed to have no monsters at all, maybe the monsters had been cleaned on this floor so we moved to the 2nd underground floor.

The torches were hung around the floors, this place had been well lighted so we were very lucky to have good visions in this dark dungeon, we saw no monsters on the 2nd floor so we later headed down to the 3rd floor.

Our fighting formation was simple, I stood in the lead point, Reimi stood in the middle and Sarah stood behind the two of us to guard behind, I had changed from using a gun to using a bow. The dungeon was not so narrow so we were very advantageous while moving, I was very lacking prepared because while in the cave was mostly very dark and narrow, how stupid I was!

We also had to prepare torches to light up the way and to prepare short weapons but we were so lucky when our swords had middle lengths, the dungeon was wide and the torches had been provided to us by the Warsaw guards.

We stepped down the 3rd floor and noticed that the underground floor was a bit dark, there were still torches but seemed like they were not hung too much on the walls, I could sense the danger now.

"Reimi, raised me the torch."

Reimi heard that so she raised toward me the torch which had been attached with small coal on the top of it, I pulled out a lighter from my pocket and lighted the torch with a surprise from Reimi.

"What is that, Sir Rigen!" - Ahh, I told you to stay silent, Reimi! You damn muscle brain!

"Silent...Reimi...this thing is called a lighter, a magic item, it can be used to light up the fire."

"That's so?" - Reimi later raised the torch to light up the three of us in the dark dungeon

I raise my bow and then pointed it forward while moving around the area with my group, the place had no monster, I think!

Wait...I found something when we were sneaking behind a corner, I peeked out to see then I saw 3 goblins standing beside each other, they didn't see us. I immediately drew my bow out to see them, these goblins were holding wooden clubs and were standing forward us, I would make a guerilla attack on the goblins to kill them in an ambush.

I immediately returned to Reimi and then raised three fingers to let her see.

"Reimi, give Sarah the torch and we will plan our attack."

Reimi immediately handed the torch to Sarah and then she looked back at me, I would use my bow to kill a goblin while Reimi would use her throwing knives to kill them...alright!

"3 Tangos forward the road, about 10 meters (10, 9 yards), I will kill a goblin with my bow to open the ambush and you will use your throwing knives to kill the two other ones."

"What is tango, Sir Rigen?" - Oh, Reimi didn't know the phonetic alphabet in NATO, sorry, girl!

"Tango is an enemy, three enemies forward, I want you to use your throwing knives to kill them when I shoot a bow to open the ambush."

"Nod!" - Good, Reimi!

I immediately drew the bow's string and while holding tight to it, I would make a clear shot to kill one of three goblins, I would target its heart.

"Stand by...stand by..." - I immediately shot a bow at a goblin, I saw it had been hit to its chest so I sneaked behind the wall

"Kill them, Reimi." - Reimi came out with 4 of the throwing knives in her hands and then threw each knife at the other goblins

Reimi had done throwing the knives and then she looked at me.

"The way is cleared, Sir Rigen." - Reimi said to us so we moved out to see

Three goblins died, one with an arrow to its chest, two others died with a knife stuck in their throats, I immediately stabbed my sword at the goblin that died from hitting the arrow, I stabbed its chest and its head.

"Why did you do that, Sir Rigen?" - Reimi asked me with her confused

"It's gross, Commander." - Sarah avoided looking at the goblins' corpses, she even covered her nose

"To make sure the enemies are all died, they can fake deaths, stab them twice or more even if they died, do it all the time." - I kept stabbing the goblins for 5 times and then stopped

"Sarah, collect the goblins' ears and store them in a bag."

Sarah seemed to disobey me but she forced herself to do it, Sarah seemed very nervous, she cut the goblins' ears and then stored them in a bag and then looked away to stay out of the corpses, this girl was not a person who dares to kill then why did she become a soldier?

No, I would say that Sarah was a US soldier that enlisted when our homeland was in peace, she only worked in the country, not sent overseas to fight.

I could not compare myself to her when I was a war veteran, I was a useless shit when I was in Afghanistan, didn't dare, scared to kill and also scared to death.

This girl was so lucky to not be sent to warzones, I would say Sarah was courage than me, at least she forced herself to face the corpses, I would stay away from those scenes when was still fighting in Afghanistan.

After that, the three of us headed deeper into the dungeon and successfully each other to make a combination that kills 12 more goblins. The goblins' ears had been collected all but we saw no orcs inside of the dungeon, we were on the 6th floor, our group should move deeper to the other floors, the 10th floor would be the last place we will go.

We went with each other down the 7th floor, no monster so we moved down the 8th floor, also no monsters so we moved down the 9th floor. When we were moving together, I smelled very stink smells as if those smells come from the dead bodies, I moved farther and then I saw the scene.

Those were 4 corpses on the ground that lay together, the corpses had died with limbs lost, these were the killer's tracks. According to the corpses' decomposition, those corpses must have died here for days or a week, I didn't know for sure.

"Sir Rigen, what's wrong?..." - Reimi froze when she saw the corpses, she seemed very tense right now

"Ahhhh!" - Sarah yelled in scare, the killer must be around here...or he was staying on the other floors, hadn't wandered here anymore and maybe was waiting for the next victims when they head down the other floors

I immediately hung the bow on my shoulder and then changed to my M4 Carbine, I switched the M4 from safe mode to automatic mode, the carbine had already fully loaded alongside the pistol in the beginning.

"Sarah, weapons free, fire at will." - I would hunt the killer alone, these girls would stay behind
