Chapter 21: Goblin Hunt

Rigen's perspective

Two days had gone by since the day I got to this town, I have done 2 more quests to have income.

Though the quests I made were just for the rookies so today I want to do something new.

I felt that since I got here, the relationship between Milch and her daughter went worse than before, Erissen now always leaves her house all day and only returns home at the midnight.

About Milch, she always invites strange men to the inn when night comes. Though her action is for the good of her daughter's future life but I think she should stop behaving like that.

She must have another job, though I don't know if there is still any place that would accept her to work or not, because this world is set in the middle ages, and most of the work for laborers here are men.

I think I must need some advice for that help, I don't know to ask anyone except Mentor so I go to his place right away in the morning.

When the time I got there, Mentor is now cleaning the swords around the shelves, seems like he has noticed my appearance.

"You got here so soon? I always said that I would teach you swordsmanship in the afternoon!"

"Mentor, I'm not coming here this morning to learn swordfight, I just need you to give me some advice!"

"Speak!" - Mentor ordered me to speak

"This is a matter from a family of the inn I'm staying, just, the owner of the inn was a prostitute and her daughter is now very hates her!"

"I just want to find another job for that owner, also to regain the relationship between her and her daughter! Can you please give me some advice?"

"By the way you said, I think you already have an answer to take care of that problem! I won't say it to you but, try to know more about that owner and her daughter!"

"Talk to them, even if those conversations always go to the bad results, that's all!" - Mentor gave me some advice

But seemed like what he said was nonsense, maybe I have to take care of that problem myself.

That's also advice? I want you to explain clearly!

"Thank for the advice, Mentor! I'll go now, see you this afternoon!"

"Take care!" - Mentor said goodbye

Then I go back to the inn, I think I must find Erissen first, try to talk to her to explain why her mom doing those dirty things.

But seems like Erissen isn't home, I go around the streets, check the alleys that I go but seems like Erissen isn't there either. I wonder where she went, but later I gave up and went to the Adventurer's Guild to find a quest to do.

Then I go to the Adventurer's Guild to find a quest, I notice that the first time I went to the Adventurer's Guild in Ailia, a town belonging to Attenta Kingdom, there were some beastmen and a lot of human Adventurers inside it. This Adventurer's Guild in Swei town is different, I only see humans.

But I later ignored that detail, I check all the quests on that board then I see a quest that rewards 1.200 Attas, a big price for me. The mission is about to destroy a Goblin's nest inside a cave not too far from this place.

When I was about to take that quest paper, a voice from behind called me.

"Hey, would you like to team up with us?"

Then I turn around and see who called me, there are about 4 people, no, 4 young people. They seem very young, the ages are about 15 to 16.

A young boy with a red band on his head, wielding a longsword with iron armors, a young girl wearing casual clothes, wielding a staff has a blue crystal on it looks like a magic staff.

A young boy with black hooded clothes, with knife packs wielding all over his shoulders and also his belts, a young girl with leather armors, wielding a sword on her left belt.

"Can we do that quest alongside you, mister?" - That armor boy asked me

"These are your friends?"

"Yes!"

"I don't mind teaming up but what're your ranks?"

"Uh! All of us are Rank G, but believe me! I'm an experienced swordsman, I always win against the people from my village in the swordfights!"

"Anyway my name is Frank, and these are my friends, Jinn, Todd and Lynn!" - Frank introduced his friends to me

But can these kids read? The quest I was about to take requires Rank E, these kids are not capable to do this

"This quest requires Rank E, I don't think you kids are capable to do it!"

"I'm not a kid, 15 is fully grown up already!" - Frank rejected my thought

"Even if we are not capable to do it, mister! Then why don't you let us have an experience about it? We want to become the greatest Adventurers someday!" - The girl seems like Lynn talked to me, these kids are full of courage, I guess

"Okay! I will let you go with me, just make sure that you won't do anything careless, okay?"

"What's okay, mister?" - The girl looks like Jinn asked me

"Yeah! Not just your voice strange but also the word you use also weird, mister!" - Frank and the others urged me to explain to them

"Okay means alright in my place, that's it!"

"Just forget about what we just said, let's take the quest and do it right away!" - Frank tore the quest paper out

Then he went to the stall, talking to the slim Guild girl I always talk to

"We would like to do this quest, can you please proceed?"

"You four just registered to this Guild yesterday and all got G Rank, right? This quest requires Rank E only, please choose something else!" - That Guild girl explained to the kids

"That's why we chose him!" - Frank talked to the Guild girl and pointed his right hand at me

After seeing me, that Guild girl tapping her head a few times, seems like she is now confused.

"Sir John! You must know your risks if you let these kids do this quest, if an Adventurer has any risks after taking a quest, that would be that person's fault for not preparing carefully!"

"But about these kids, if you took them with you to do the quest and they got problems after returning here, all the responsible would be carried by you!" - That Guild girl trying to persuade me to give up taking these kids with me

"I will make sure the kids will be safe and sound, miss! Don't be so worried!"

"I hope you know what you're gonna do to them, Sir John!" - That Guild girl sighed, later handing me the quest paper

"Just a few seconds, Sir John! Can you please get here closer?" - That Guild girl asked me

Then I walk closer to that Guild girl, Frank and his friends after seeing me doing that, they turn around and talk to each other, I wonder what are these kids talking about.

"Thank you for saving my little sister, Sir Rigen! My name is Cily, I think my sister already told you about it before, I would like to invite you for a date, Sir Rigen!"

"I know a very good tavern around here, I want to repay my debt to you, Sir Rigen! Please come here this weekend, I will ask my boss for a day off, meet me here in this place in the morning!" - Cily whispered to my ears

Cily? I remember this name, I heard it somewhere from someone but I can't remember exactly, maybe I will have a date with a girl,

But why there are so many girls around me? Reimi, Shera, Milch, Erissen, and now this girl Cily.

Though in my previous world, I didn't have a girlfriend, not even a classmate to talk to when I was in high school.

Maybe I will accept Cily's suggestion, only the dumbs that dare to reject girl calls, but I don't want to have any deep relationship with these girls, I want to return to Vir.

Vir, Vir what? I can't remember exactly, I only know that place located in the United States, that was my homeland but I cannot remember clearly. I don't even remember how many days since I got to this world.

"This is the day 20 since you got to this world, John!" - Advisor talked to me

"Advisor! You always keep silent since the time I got to this town, what's wrong?"

"I don't see any dangers to you so I always sleep until get ordered!"

"You AI also knows how to sleep?"

"Forget about it! Now, what's your order to me?"

"Just show me the location of the quest I just chose earlier, remember to lead me to the fastest route!"

"Roger that!"

Then Advisor's screen turned into the area map that shows that quest's location, after seeing that, I turn back to tell Frank and the others to go.

"What's wrong with you guys?"

Frank and his friends are chuckling while looking at me.

"Your name is John, right? What did that Guild girl say to you earlier, don't tell me you two are having feelings for each other!" - Frank said to me while opening a smile like to tease me

"That problem is for the adults, I don't have anything to do with that girl, we're all just friends!"

"Really?" - Lynn and Jinn also doing curious expressions, only Todd is the guy who is always silent

"Let's go!" - After saying that word, I suddenly run out of the Guild

"Wait!" - Frank yelled

"Wait for us too, John!" - The others also behaved the same

After getting out of the Guild, I immediately go to the route that Advisor told me to, according to it, the route that Advisor told me to go is the shortest route to that quest.

The kids are now going behind me, some of them seem curious when they see me staring at Advisor's map while walking.

"Mister John! Why did you always stare at the bracelet you wear on your right hand?" - Jinn asked me, I don't surprise, the other may feel the same

"Oh, I think my bracelet's always pretty so I always staring at it!"

"Really? But I can see your bracelet is glowing a green-colored!"

"It was specially made for it!"

"Are you a noble, mister John?" - Frank asked me

"Why did you say that?"

"I have heard some rumors about a man named John Rigen, a powerless that escaped from Attenta Kingdom while being chased by 200 Assassins! That man is said to wear strange clothes and has odd things with him!"

"The amazing thing about that man, John Rigen that he killed the entire 200 Assassins that chased him, I don't know if those rumors are true or not but killing 200 men is unbelievable to me!" - Frank explained to me, seems like I must lie this time again

"Killed 200 men, huh? I cannot believe that!"

"I only see the name John is the only one you have, that name is not commonly named by the people here, sorry if I and my friends misunderstood you as John Rigen, mister John!" - Frank apologized to me

"I think we should stay focused on the quest we are in instead of chatting about the nonsenses!"

"Yeah, you're right! Guys, let's stay focused!" - Frank ordered his friends to focus on the quest

After a long walk, we finally got near to the cave, we are now hiding in the bushes, watching if any goblins are coming out for the guard or not. I am now watching the cave from far away using my binoculars.

"John! Why did you keep pointing that weird metal thing around your eyes?" - Frank asked me with a curious face, the others also staring at me, having the same question in their heads

"Don't care about it, that's just my habit!"

"Your habit is weird, John!"

"Seems like there is no goblin there, we may move inside!"

"Finally! All of us will tear the goblins apart!" - Frank is now so excited, he even waving his sword around

"Before we go inside, can I ask you kids some questions?"

"Yes, of course, John! But please don't say "kids" anymore, Frank seems doesn't want you to call him like that!" - Lynn told me not to use that word anymore

"As you want, Lynn! The thing I want to ask you guys is, do goblins rape women?"

Seems like after hearing what I said, all of them were dazed a little bit, they were confused at what I said.

"What do you mean by asking that, John? You really like to see girls like us got humiliated!" - Jinn seemed a little frustrated

"No! I just, do the monsters not raping women?"

"Of course not, John! They are not smart enough to do that, I think only the monster citizens in the Demon Kingdom that got educated would be smart enough to know about it!" - Lynn explained to me

"So, do the Goblins be able to see in the dark?"

"Where did you learn that?"

"Sorry if I wrong!"

"One more question, please! Why is this quest set for Rank E but not the lower rank? I think the Rank F or Rank G would be capable to do that!"

"The Goblin's nest that the quest told you is not a normal nest, that's a remnant of the Demon Lord from the war our human fighting the demon 500 years ago!" - Frank explained to me, seems like I want to hear him say more

"What kind of remnant?"

"You, you are older than us but you don't know anything? That war is told repeatedly every year in every country, are you falling from the sky, John?" - Not also Frank but the others were also shocked when hearing what I asked

Yeah! You can say so, Frank! I'm not a person here, this is not my world, but how can I say that to him?

"So?"

"The Demon Lord had created many caves that have the nests like this one in the war 500 years ago."

"In a few minutes or few hours, one Goblin would be created in that nest, that process won't stop until you destroy the crystal that has the duty to produce Goblins!"

"The danger thing those nests bring to us is, if the number of Goblins increased too much, they would got out of the cave and raiding the villages or anywhere that has human!" - Frank has done his explanation

Thank God that the Goblin that appears in this world is not similar to Goblin Slayer, but I also need to be cautious when getting inside the cave.

"All of you can go with me, but remember to go quiet, don't do anything that can make us killed!"

Then Frank and his guys go with me to the cave, Todd is holding a torch, he is now casting fire magic on it to let it light up.

I can also use my lighter for that for Todd but that would lead to unexpected problems, they would ask me all day if I let them see all my stuff.

I slowly sneak inside the cave with Frank and his guys, no goblins are guarding outside the cave so I change the direction to go deeper inside.

There is now about 2 Goblin wielding short spears standing guard-forward us, they seemed didn't notice us yet.

I slowly use my hand signal to order Frank to kill those two Goblins alongside me, he seems very curious after seeing me pointing my right hand to him and then to those goblins.

"What do you mean, John?" - Frank asked me while saying loud

Ahh! You dumb! Then those Goblins turn behind to look but I managed to pull out my M9 Bayonet and threw it into one of two goblins. I also pulled out my sword and stabbed the other right to the heart.

But seemed like the other Goblins heard what Frank said, his voice was very loud at that time. I can hear many footsteps coming toward us, I immediately pull out my M9 Bayonet from the Goblin's body.

"Everyone follow me!"

Then I run deeper inside the cave, seeing many Goblins standing there, waiting to slice me but I managed to dodge their attacks and sliced back some of them, not much, about 2 to 3 at least.

After running for a while, I see 2 routes that lead deeper inside, one of those may have the crystal.

"Todd, Frank and Jinn will go that route! I will go with Lynn to the other one!"

Then we got split up, I'm now going with Lynn, the Healer of the team to the other side of the route. I hold both the torch and the sword while walking, there are many Goblins on this route.

But I managed to kill all of them the number of Goblins was large but they were too weak so I killed them quite easily.

While checking the Goblin's bodies to see if they are all dead or not, suddenly Lynn called me.

"John! Above you!"

Then I turn my head above and see a Goblin that is now jumping down from the ledge above me, probably that one was hiding to wait for its chance.

"Argh!"

I cannot dodge that stab, the knife is now stuck on my left shoulder, that Goblin has been killed after it stabbed me but seems like I need someone to heal me immediately.

I pull out the knife and realize there is a green color that has on the blade of the knife, my body then feels exhausted. I drop that knife down and fall to the ground, I cannot move, my body feels strange.

"You have been poisoned, John!" - Lynn is now very worried about me

Then Lynn pulls out a thing that looks like a potion but has a purple color and then spills the liquid inside that potion to my wound. A few seconds later, my body feels better, I was about to stand up but Lynn said to me.

"Your injure is still there!"

"Heal!" - Lynn cast Healing magic on my body, my wound slowly closed, stopping the bleeding

After being healed by Lynn, I got up and went around the route, then finally, I found the crystal, as the time I was about to break the crystal, I saw a Goblin being created from nowhere by it.

That crystal looks like a Spawner from a game called Minecraft, that thing also creates monsters from nowhere.

After breaking that crystal, I collect its pieces and go with Lynn outside to find the others, I was looking for Frank and his guys, checked many routes, and also killed some Goblins while doing that.

When I'm sure I cannot find them inside the cave anymore, I decided to go out with Lynn, when we got out of the cave, I realize that those guys were already there.

"You two are still alive?" - Jinn asked us while she is breathing hard to take the breath

"I think we should go back to do our Rank G quests, this quest is hell!" - Frank is complaining about that

It can be told by the way I saw his sword blunted from slicing the Goblins

"Can we go back to the Guild now?" - Todd said to me, this is the first time I heard him talked

"How do we split the money?" - Lynn asked me

"You guys are so annoyed! I won't take the reward, let's make a bet, who got back to the Guild first would be rewarded all 1.200 Attas!"

"Really? Then I must go now!" - Frank said to me and started running

I must go back to the inn as the time I got back to the Guild, these kids are so annoying to me, it would be better if I did this quest alone.
