Chapter 18: The First Quest (Part 1)

Maybe I should choose a quest to finish first! I may choose that first then go back to the Inn to grab some of my stuff.

About the learning swordsmanship from that Mentor, I may come later.

Then I go to the board that shows the quest papers, I try to find the easiest quest to do, at least to record that I have done a quest. I looked around the board, seems like most of the quests are about monster hunts and goblin hunts!

Then later I stop at a quest paper, I look closer at the details being written on it. Seems like the mission is about collecting plants for a farmer to make medicine.

The location of that quest is nearby according to the area map, at a village named Mar or something.

That mission requires Rank G, which means the rookie, the reward is quite cheap for me but maybe this quest is the only one that fits me the most at this time, maybe I will do this quest!

Then I grab that quest paper, I want to ask that guild girl again for more info but when I look back to the stall, there are only 4 guild girls left.

Strange! Maybe I will ask the others for the info on the quest.

"What do you need, mister?" - A guild girl asked me when I got close to her

"I just want to ask you about the quest for the Adventurers, if I finished a quest, then how would I prove to the Guild that I have finished it?"

"For your question, mister! In the monster hunt quests, you must take the belongings of the monsters, for example the goblins, you must cut their ears, put them in your bag and bring them here!"

"In the missions that didn't have the monster hunts, then you must ask the quest owners to hand you something to make sure that you finished them, like a confirmation letter, or a present that they gave you."

"Otherwise, we will send a guild messenger to that location to ask the quest owner to make sure that you have finished the quest!" - That guild girl explained to me, seems like I have understood the details

"One more question, please! The guild girl that had just talked to me recently has gone away, do you know where she is?"

"She is now working inside the office, mister!"

"And mister! If you are about to make a quest, then arm up yourself first, you don't wear any armor, you only have a sword as your weapon."

"There is a weapon shop nearby this Guild, get there if you need weapons and armors!" - That guild girl guided me

"Thank you for the information, miss! Then I going now!"

After goodbye to that Guild girl, I ran out of the Adventurer's Guild, looking around for the weapon shop that the guild girl talked to me about.

I found a shop that has a sign on it, which has a figure of armor and a sword on it, placed opposite each other, that must be the weapon shop.

Then I open the shop's door and go inside, there is a bald man with a brown beard, who seems to be the owner of the shop standing at the stall.

Strange! That man didn't greet me with any words but I soon ignored it and stepped on the reason why I came here.

"Ow-" - I was about to call the owner but then he stopped me

"Call me Waff!" - That owner told me

"I came here for buying armors!"

Then Waff looks at me, at my appearance, then he opens a little smile, looks straight at my eyes.

"Your appearance is not as bad, young man! You look like a soldier, no! More than that, your appearance shows that you much be very well trained!"

"So, what kind of armor do you want to buy?" - Waff asked me

"I want the armors that are not so heavy to walk, a leather armor may be enough for me!"

"You are kidding me, right? Nevermind! As you want, I will bring out some armors, choose any of them if you like!" - Waff said to me with a disappointed voice, then he went inside the room to choose the armors

Seems like this shop is not that bad, its furniture seems quite fit, I looking around to see if there is anything more for me to buy.

I later noticed a sword that looks like the katana, a Japanese sword, which is placed separated from the other swords, its hilt has a thing like a crystal placed on it.

I am now so curious about that sword, I want to touch it, then Waff went back with a few armors, he placed them on the stall, told me to choose what I want.

I look at the armors on the stall then stop at an armor, that leather armor not only has hand protectors but also leg protectors that are very well made, maybe I will choose this one.

"I will choose that one!"

"Good answer, young man! This armor is very well made! But you don't even wear that armor but choose it immediately!" - Waff told me to choose carefully

"I don't have much need to buy a good armor for now! When I need it, I will get here to buy!"

"You are such a weird customer, young man! Most of the Adventurers or Mercenaries came here chose for expensive things, anyway please hand me 3.000 Attas for the armor!"

"That's very much!"

"That is the cheapest price I made for the people who first come here! Anyway, can you tell me why you chose that armor instead of the others?" - Waff seems curious about my reason

"My first quest as an adventurer is to collect plants so I don't need to pay much money for buying armor!"

"That's all? I thought you were about to fight monsters or something! Then hand me 4.000 Attas!" - Waff asked me to hand him the money with the higher price

"I'm not a rookie, I got Rank E already!"

"Then the price will be 3.200 Attas!"

"More lower!"

This guy! I hope your shop will be closed soon!

"If you complain more then I will double the price!"

Finally, I lost the negotiation, I still have a lot of money that back at the inn but for me, spending too much money is not a good idea.

3.200 Attas are so much for me but, let's forget that! I will go buy in another weapon shop, next time!

"Thank you for the business, young man! Would you mind if I put the armor on you right now?" - Waff asked me with a chuckling smile, I don't know why I want to hit this guy

"No! I want to do that myself!"

Then I grabbed the leather armor and tried to wear it, I struggled a little bit for wearing it.

After wearing the armor, I went around the shop, trying to make some moves, seems like the armor is very fit now!

Then I remembered the sword that looked like a katana before, I point my right hand at it, Waff also looks towards where I pointed at.

"What is that sword? Can I buy it?"

"Oh! That sword is called Ashura Magic Sword which comes from a Kingdom named Ashura located in the far Northeast of the continent named after its Kingdom!"

"That thing is very high priced! You cannot buy it!" - Waff explained to me

"How much does it costs?"

"About 120.000 Attas, I think!"

"What?"

I know the truth that why a Japanese sword in my world

is very expensive, though a Japanese sword is not as good as a European sword.

Its blade is also very easy to be broken but the progress for the blacksmiths to forge a Japanese sword takes a very long time, which makes it expensive.

About the Kingdom named Ashura, it must be an Eastern fantasy kingdom on the continent, I will make more research about it when I have time.

About the reason why the Ashura sword is very high priced, I don't know for sure, maybe I can ask Waff about it, hope he won't ask me money about asking him!

"Why that thing is very expensive? I see it as the normal swords!"

Then Waff goes towards the sword, he puts the scabbard out, holding the sword in front of me.

Few seconds later, the thing that looks like a crystal placed in the sword's hilt starts glowing blue light, the sword is later covered in a blue aura.

Then few seconds later, that aura is gone, and the crystal is also stopped glowing. Waff standing there, I don't know if what I saw is true or not but Waff seems to have some sweats on his face, he is now wiping the sweats.

"That's the reason! The sword itself is made of Ashura's Mythril material, very durable!"

"The aura I showed you earlier was the true power of the sword when being enhanced by using magic, it can cut the ordinary iron like cheese!"

"And using the sword by enhancing magic on it is very dangerous, it takes you a lot of magic powers to make it! That's why I'm now sweating!" - Waff said to me

"Maybe that's all I need to know now, thank you Waff! I may come here next time, or maybe in another shop if you keep messing with me!"

"You don't even buy a helmet to wear!" - Waff asked me to stop

I remember since I got to this world, I lost my military helmet for some reasons that I can't remember. But even in hard times situations, I think that I will manage to get through it! But I must prepare my gears more fully next time, this preparation is too negligent.

"I think these are enough for me! See you next time, Waff!"

"Wait!" - Waff was about to catch up on me but, sorry! I closed the door

Then I run away from the shop in a hurry, I will get back to the inn immediately. On the way back to the inn, I wonder!

If most of the people here are illiterate, then why do some of the buildings in this town have signs that have words on them, even the addresses also written in all houses.

The best answer that I can conclude is that some of the people who own those buildings are educated people, so they know words!

The reasons why the addresses are written in all the houses, even on the signposts placed all over the streets may be a way for the government here to propagate, to encourage the people here to learn words.

Whew! Look like I'm now in front of the Inn, I open the door and step inside.

"Oh! Mister! You look more handsome after getting back here!" - Erissen greeted me when I get back

I wonder where"s her mom, that woman was just here since I got out of the inn.

"Eris, where's your mom?"

"Don't call my name so familiar like that! Anyway, my mama has gone to the market, she will get home quite late!" - Erissen explained to me

"I don't see your dad! Is he now working somewhere?"

"I don't have dad, mama said to me that my dad has passed away, he was a guest that stayed in this inn a long time ago!"

Oh! I hope in the time I stay in this inn, I won't have any bastards with Erissen's mom!

"Why do you look so relieved, mister?"

"Because I don't want to become your dad!"

"Were you intended to move on with my mom? Forget about her, you can do that with me!" - Erissen trying to seduce me

This brat! I hope I will stay away from this inn as soon as possible! Erissen and her mom are the weirdos for me!

Then Erissen slowly steps closer to me, raising her body up for me to see her chest. This brat intended to show me her breast! Want to challenge me?

"Mister! Look at me, mine is not as big as mama's but it might satisfy you! You can do anything with it, mister! But remember to become a good husband!" - Erissen opened a cunning smile at me

"I don't have any interested in kids, I will go now before the FBI caught me!"

"Wait! You don't want to be my dad, or my dear?"

"And what was the word FBI you mentioned? Hey! Hey! Get back here!"

Maybe I will ask permission from Mentor to sleep in his house, hope that these people won't intend to do anything to me when night comes!

When I was walking back to my room, I noticed that the rooms around me have no people inside. Wait! Am I the only customer that stays in the inn?

"Eris! Where are the other customers that stay in the inn?" - I shouted down the stair for Erissen to hear

"Customers? You are the only customer that now staying in this inn, our lastest customers stayed here 2 months ago!" - Erissen replied to me

"Hahaha hahaha!"

I can even hear her laugh down there.

Maybe I will get out of this inn quick, but not so suddenly. Then I went back to my room, took the airpods and some stuff like hand grenades and flashbangs.

I also bring with me more than 10.000 Attas for the trade, though I think the money I bring should be lower, I don't need to bring much money like this, much save as much as possible.

"Advisor, can you hear me now?"

"Yes! I have changed into the special conversation, John! I can hear you loud and clear!"

"Do you remember the way to Mar Village?"

"Yes! I have saved the images of the area map and the country map when you were looking at them in the Adventurer's Guild, here is the map of the location!"

Then Advisor's screen turns into the area map of this town, the inn that I'm now staying in is connected with a yellow color line that leads to the village, looks like a GPS for me.

Then I go outside of the inn, Erissen sees me and shouts loud to me.

"Hey, dear! If you want to marry me, don't say that to my mom!"

"I would rather do that to your mom!"

"Really? Let's make a promise! You will marry both of us if you broke the word you said!"

"Of course! You want me to promise! Fine!"

Oh crap! In an impulsive moment, I just lost my control and said it! I just have dug a grave for myself.

"I withdraw that earlier word!"

"Dear! Everything I heard cannot be withdrawn!" - Erissen chuckling while looking at me

Maybe I will move out of this place soon then go to Mentor's house and stay with him.

I must make a plan to sneak inside this inn again when night comes, pack up my stuff and go away.

But I think that was just a word said from a brat, still have ways to get out of it.

There are still many ways to get rid of this brat and her mom.

I stopped thinking about that and slowly walked outside the streets, going out the border of the town, to make my first quest.
