《The Egotistical Mana Spirit》Going West with Regrets

A single tall figure was making its way across the Great Steppe. Leaving the southern parts where the Big Brow Band was in command, Nobrow continued walking along an environment that felt like a tundra.

The vegetation of the rolling terrain and raised rocky plates harbored little vegetation. If the scene was romanticized on a canvas it would look wild and lonely at the same time. Terrorizing thoughts would probably roll through the head of a spectator. If the viewer of the canvas could switch places with the slender figure in the painting with themselves, they would realize how true the abundant colors of red, brown, and gray could dominate the canvas. The only distinction a person could achieve of whether they were in Senaisa or in a different realm completely would have to be the similar blue sky that always keeps its distance to anyone in Senaisa, whether they are in Issil or Samar or the Great Steppe.

Everyday of his journey, Nobrow followed the direction of where the sun ended up in the horizon. The sun seemed to sink below the earth, but Nobrow knew it was because the plain of where he stood was as high as some small mountains elsewhere in the world. His direction was west.

Towards the west was the Great Blue Ocean, but between the ocean and where he was is a thin region known as the Warm Coast. Unlike the chaotic climate of the Great Steppe, the Warm Coast harbors a beloved soft and stable weather pattern. The most harmful natural occurrences that could damage someone's way of life is either whenever the ground rumbles or an extreme storm. The rumbling of the ground is common and poses little threat, but not too often it could shake enough to ruin villages. The Great Blue Ocean has historically brewed violent storms but they are rare, instead the heavy ones come once in a while, often in a schedule depending on the season. When comparing the Warm Coast’s climate to the Great Steppe any sane individual would easily choose the Warm Coast because of how chaotic and unpleasant the weather pattern is in the Great Steppe. Sometimes there is snow, sometimes it's too dry, maybe heavy rain would erode the terrain even some more, or the sun could stay out for what can feel like an entire year. Nobrow only lived about half a year in the Great Steppe and even as an adventurer he was already tired and couldn’t wait long enough to leave the hell plate.

Another reason why the Great Steppe was so mysterious and great to other people who live around it was because of how large rolling hills and sometimes even mountains seemed like the roots of the "steppe", so getting into the region was dangerous and difficult enough. Thought Nobrow.

Nobrow let out a sigh again for another hundredth time when thinking back to his shameful and unethical behaviors to when he was a bandit chief. How terrible it must be to be a innocent traveller or merchant who must cross into the Great Steppe, only to be slain, imprisoned, or routed back downhill because of wretched wild Monkey men attacking them? While Nobrow could have risked his life to avenge those he wronged by defeating the savages, he yet again decided to run away from hastles. The great thing was there weren't any witnesses of his criminal barbaric behaviour, besides the steppe bandits like Bigbrow. But he knew that even if he didn’t order the murders he was no better than an assailant in the crimes!

Nobrow did feel incredibly guilty but not enough to flee from his personal issues. And so he continued west towards the Warm Coast.
