《Dream Hunters》Chapter 38 – Avatar Form - ??? Percent

DAISUKE’S CHARRED BODY SUDDENLY stood up. It faced the Diabolia with its glowing green eyes and gasped for air. From where it was standing, different kinds of plants and trees started to grow despite the protective magic. A cherry blossom tree grew below him and wrapped around him until his body was inside.
The tree grew until it became a fully mature cherry blossom tree, and after a few more seconds, cherry blossoms bloomed, much to everyone's confusion and amazement.
The Diabolia faced and roared at the tree, sensing ominous mana from it. It started to inhale, preparing to breathe out its black flames. It was already going to exhale when suddenly, the trunk of the cherry blossom tree expanded as if it was going to explode.
Slowly, the expanded trunk cracked open. From the inside, Daisuke slowly came out fully naked and all healed up from being burned. The group was stunned to see the once lifeless charred body of Daisuke walking again as if nothing happened.
Hexagonal patterns gradually filled Daisuke’s ash-gray skin. A smaller cherry blossom tree started growing from his back, legs, and arms. Daisuke roared and released an intense pressure that even the Diabolia skidded backward.
“What’s happening?” Lanaya asked.
“Oh, my gods. Is that what I think it is?” said Marcactas.
“Everyone, do not make a sudden move,” said Jack as he stopped moving, holding a small orb.
“Guys, what’s happening to Daisuke?” asked Mirana.
“That’s Daisuke’s avatar form,” Riku replied.
“Oh, no, not again...” Raijin cried.
Daisuke, in his avatar form, rushed towards the Diabolia and punched its face with his bare fist, knocking back the Diabolia to the magic barrier. The impact was so strong that some of the Diabolia’s parts turned smoky.
Everyone got surprised that Daisuke actually managed to hit the intangible Diabolia.
The Diabolia got up and immediately fought back. It stood its ground and breathed a wide black flame towards Daisuke.
Daisuke leaped backward and created a giant tree that blocked the flame. The tree burned easily, but Daisuke continued to make the tree grow as fast as it gets burned.
The heat coming from the flame was so intense that the gold inside the vault and other treasures inside started to melt. Even the ground and walls started to melt, turning into lava.
Not even the protective barrier was able to contain both the power of Diabolia and Daisuke.
And even though the group was relatively far, the heat from the black flame that the Diabolia was exhaling was still able to reach them. Lanaya and Mirana used their magic to create a high form of cryosphere that saved everyone from the heat.
The continuous black flame the Diabolia was breathing out however took a toll on its corporeal form.

The giant cherry blossom tree Daisuke created fell and he saw the deteriorating form of the Diabolia. From everyone's perspective, the shadowy form of the Diabolia looked as if it was simply fading away, like the clouds slowing disappearing as it moved with the winds. In Daisuke's perspective, the Diabolia's corporeal body was being filled with cracks where black smoke was coming out.
The small trees on Daisuke’s legs grew larger. The roots started to grow rapidly downward and ingrained to the ground. Daisuke stretched his arms forward, with the right arm above the left arm. His fists were closed, with the left fist mirroring the right fist above.
The tree on Daisuke’s back grew larger and heavier, he was forced to squat, but more roots grew downward and acted as a support for his stance. Branches from the trees on his arms grew longer, spiraling forward until three branches were in front.
A glowing green ball of energy started to form in front of Daisuke’s fists. As it grew larger, the leaves on the trees started to wither quickly. Soon, the tree on Daisuke’s back loses all of its leaves and the energy ball was twice the size of Daisuke’s head.
The Diabolia shrieked. It was now completely formless in everyone's perspective and filled with cracks, releasing black smoke in Daisuke's vision. It started to combust into black flame and charged towards Daisuke. And when the Diabolia was close enough, Daisuke released the energy ball towards it.
The green energy ball blasted towards the Diabolia like a cannonball, but Daisuke managed to endure the recoil.
The energy ball directly hits the formless Diabolia. It sent the Diabolia with it, and soon both hit the should-be impregnable magic barrier.
Upon impact, the energy ball exploded, engulfing the Diabolia, destroying the wall behind it, and carving a crater on the ground.
The group cheered as Daisuke saved them from the Diabolia. They saw that Daisuke was standing still and steaming. The hexagonal pattern on his skin slowly disappeared. The tree on his back, arms, and leg completely withered. And soon, Daisuke fell to the ground, unconscious.

His friends and Mirana ran towards him. The Seekers and Brunnhilde tended to the frostbitten arm and wounds of Magenta.
Lanaya and the Guardian Mages looked for Alicia. They looked around and saw her already inside the vault. With the Diabolia dead, Alicia was able to use magic freely inside.
“How did she get there?!” Lanaya shouted.
Alicia used the container filled with fairies and was now in control of the five fragments of the Star of Arianna.
Lewis, Cromwell, Tolstoy, and Woolf ran towards the vault but were all knocked back when Alicia used the Sapphire fragment to shoot a blast of water.

“Hahahaha! At last!”
“Oh, come on! When was this going to end?!” shouted Raijin.
Alicia escaped from the castle. Using the Obsidian fragment, the earth grew upwards from where she was standing. Holes appeared at the brick ceilings until the growing earth Alicia was standing on reached the castle’s roof. Alicia used the Emerald fragment to order the winds to make her and her puppet levitate and keep them midair.
The group followed Alicia outside and saw her floating up in the sky.
The orb from Mirana’s staff glowed brightly. The air around them got colder. Mirana felt a surge of power inside her.
“Fresonia?”
The orb twinkled gently as if responding to Mirana.
From the back of Mirana, four icy fairy wings sprouted. She looked at Lanaya and saw her wings --- the same fairy wings.
“Congratulations, sister. You are now a step closer to becoming a true ice mage.”
The Yue Sisters flew up in the sky and confronted Alicia.
“We’re not letting you escape that easily,” said Lanaya.
“And you two will not stand in my way! I will have my vengeance for what the Eclipse Hunters have done to us and these treasures' power will be my strength!”
Alicia used the Citrine fragment. Thunderclouds appeared and released lightning all over the place, hitting everywhere indiscriminately.
Lanaya used her ice magic, releasing a cold wind that took away Alicia’s balance. Mirana followed up with icicle spears. Alicia countered with the Ruby fragment to melted the icicle spears. She regained her balance and decided to use all five fragments at the same time.
“Taste the power of the primordial elements!!” The fragments merged into the shape of a star and glowed brightly. A projectile of primordial elements was then released.
The sisters braced themselves and used their most powerful ice beam magic to counter the projectile. However, The Star of Arianna proved to be too powerful even for Lanaya.
At the last minute, the sisters managed to dodge the unstoppable projectile. They watched in horror as the projectile head straight towards the Grande Tent where thousands of civilians, and the queen and the princess were still inside.
* * * * *
Outside the Grande Tent, Sundara was in her humanoid Anuebow form, leading her troupe as they all evacuated everyone. All the people were weakened and became nauseous due to the aromatic lavender.
The queen and the princess, instead of being the first to go to safety, helped the Cirque du Magique assist the people away from the Grande Tent. Many mage soldiers did the same when they saw their queen and princess.
Above the Grande Tent, Sundara saw the ongoing battle between midair. She wanted to help, but the safety of the civilians was what she needed to prioritize.
That's when she saw the blinding light coming from the battle.
There's no way that she could stop the projectile that was about to hit the Grande Tent. And the explosion from that projectile would surely cause massive destruction in the area and there will be thousands of casualties.
And so she did the only thing that she could think of.
Sundara was a talented Ringmistress. She was a power user from the continent of Gardenia capable of fusing with any beasts that she was able to tame. And her talent in taming beasts became her ticket to travel the world. She started as one of the regular performers of Cirque du Magique until she became the Ringmistress, leading the troupe.
Being one of the most spectacular circus troupes in the world, there will surely be hundreds, if not thousands, of spectators that would wish to witness their grand performances. And to this day, there was nothing that could host thousands of people without sacrificing the viewing experience. Even in the Colosseum Arena, gladiators would look like ants if you were in general patronage.
Sundara went inside the now-empty Grande Tent and chanted a spell. “Spatea Extensia!”
The projectile hits the Grande Tent and went directly inside. The projectile became too unstable and exploded shortly after.
But the Grande Tent was not destroyed.
The space inside the Grande Tent became so wide, even wider than the one Guillermo created to trap Daisuke, Raijin, Mirana, and Lanatte, that the tent was able to contain the explosion and the shockwave.
Sundara came out from the Grande Tent, warning the people to not go near it.
* * * * *
Lanaya went to Mirana’s side. “Mirana. Focus. Everyone seems to be alright.”
Mirana nodded. “Let's finish this. Together.”
Lanaya managed a smile.
Together, they used their magic and unleashed a powerful ray of ice beam. Alicia tried to use the Star of Arianna again, but the last attack took a toll on the fairies that almost depleted their mana.
Unable to do anything, Alicia screamed to the top of her lungs as the ice beam of the Yue Sisters completely consumed her and her puppet.
As the beam subsided, Alicia, her puppet, the container filled with fairies, and the Star of Arianna were all completely frozen and fell but were all safely caught by the Guardian Mages before hitting the ground.
Sunrise appeared at the horizon as the sisters danced up in the sky, forming snow as they circled. The group watched the two of them together, along with Daisuke and Magenta, who both have now regained their consciousness.
“H-Hey, guys…W-What happened?” asked Daisuke as snow fell from the sky.

Updates Once a Week next update 10/5 Wracked with misfortune, a nameless village along the edge of the Gray Spine rejoiced at the arrival of a paladin. Those celebrations, though, turned to wary tension as the paladin brought an unknown into their midst - his wife Nayinis, who wears the markings of a necromancer. Who is this woman? Why has she come to their village? Nayinis divulges her shadowed past, for she needs the village's trust to defeat the powerful foe that she has been summoned by the divine to face. What to expect: This is a slow-paced, dark, epic-fantasy book written mostly in an archaic first-person style, remniscent of fariy-tale at times. I am expecting the final product to be close to 600-700 pages. The first few chapters introduce a somewhat-steep learning curve of names and mythology of the world that plateaus at aroud chapter 5.
