《Majo Magica》Chapter 48

Ci: She is dead...? T-That can't be possible...
Amani: I know what I saw~ I'm not even sure the Ancient Beasts will work without their creator~!
Aurora: But the bodies shouldn't stay around like that...I looked and looked for Zero...but nothing was found! I searched everywhere for her!
Akeru: Zero...?
Amani: Our nickname for the Zero Witch...maybe she didn't die then?
Ci: Zero has to be dead...she wouldn't just stay silent like this otherwise!
Amani: Then explain to me why one had a body and one didn't, sister~.
Ci glared at her as Amani combined her arms and wings and flapped in the air.
Amani: This has been great and all, but I must be going~
Ci: Sister, wait a minute!
Amani: You bore me, I have no intention of helping you, and that's final-
Akeru: So what, you are going back to being alone in the skies?!
Amani: Being alone doesn't bother me, girl...
Akeru: Clearly it does...or else why would you have come down when your sister's fought?!
Amani: I just enjoy watching them bicker; it's hilarious~!
Before Akeru could say anything, she saw a small white circle next to Amani and a hand reaching out and grabbing her leg. She gasped as her legs turned into the bird legs, clawing at whatever was holding her.
Ci: Itsuki!
Itsuki: I'm not...letting her get away!!!
Itsuki suffered the damage and kept hold of her. Ci and Aurora looked at each other and put their hands out, creating a barrier sphere around Amani to keep her from leaving as Itsuki dismissed his Chamber and returned to the group. His body was covered in deep scratch marks as Amani tried everything to break the barrier.
Amani: You are only going to wear yourself out! I refuse to budge; I will be free forever!!
Aurora: Just please reconsider, Amani! We have no intention of taking your freedom!
Amani: What a liar, just as always! You always would tell us whatever we wanted to hear!!
Ci: Damnit...with only two of us, this won't hold for long...Amani, we just need you to align with us and help us find the others. That's it!
Amani: I definitely won't help find a bunch of Witches that I care little about!
An extra barrier appeared on the sphere as they all looked to see Cleo was up and sober, with her hand out.

Cleo: What a load of shit. You wanted to play with all of us all the damn time! Quit being a damn brat!
Amani: Cleo!! I won't let you of all people tell me what to do-
Cleo: I admit I was like you until recently...but I woke up! I acted like I hated everyone, but in reality, my sisters are the only family I have! So I won't let you die to some scum who thinks the world would be better with us!!
Amani screamed in rage as she kept trying to break the barrier.
Ci: Damn it all, why is she so stubborn?!
Akeru:...Stop casting the barriers!
Cleo: Are you insane?! She is going to fly away!
Akeru: She wants to be free, so let her be free!
Amani looked at Akeru as the three Witches put down the barrier.
Itsuki: W-Wait a damn second, she is going to leave!
Akeru: No, because this is my game now.
Amani: What do you mean-
Akeru: You like to play games, so I am simply making a game for us to play again!
Amani: So you can cheat again?!
Akeru: I can't cheat with this...the game is you have to stay with us for an entire week and hate every second of it!!
Amani's eyes widened at her.
Amani: If I win or lose...?
Akeru: If you lose, you obviously don't hate being with us...so you will join the alliance without any issue! If you win...then you can kill us all!!
Itsuki: Akeru, wait a minute-
Amani laughed hysterically as she floated down to the ground, smirking at Akeru.
Amani: I accept...the clock starts now! I'll show you....I'll show you all how much I have this stupid alliance of yours!!
After that event, they all got her situated in a room as they finally headed to bed. The next day, Akeru was scolded by the three Witches.
Aurora: Akeru, that was very reckless of you!!
Cleo: Yeah, what if we lose!? Then those AWF pricks get three fewer Witches to worry about!
Ci: Not to mention, you didn't run the plan by any of us!
Amani was smirking in the corner as Akeru sighed.
Akeru: I-I had to do something...this was the only plan I could think of!
All of them sighed at her as Itsuki entered the throne room.

Itsuki: Well...what do you we do now?
Ci: We can't plan anything until the week is up... the only thing I can think of is she spends time with us all. Follow one of us each day of the week and hopefully change her mind.
Akeru: Well, we have seven people and under seven days...so how do we split it up?
Aurora: Good question...Well, one of us would have to share her, any volunteers?
Akeru: I usually hang out with Itsuki so we can share her, I suppose? Right, Itsuki?
Itsuki: I guess...?
Ci: Well, let's do this then: Today, she can be with Aurora, then I, then Cleo, then Benjiro, then Ravenbeard, and finally you two.
Aurora: Oh, that sounds lovely! Very well, you all are dismissed!
The group separated as Aurora and Amani walked around the castle, Aurora did her daily routines, and Amani looked bored. The next day she spent time with Ci as she mostly drank tea and read books, again leaving Amani bored out of her mind. The day after, she hung around Cleo, who mostly just slept that day. Amani joined her as she had nothing to do. However, when she hung around Benjiro, they went out into the field as Benjiro started to fight monsters. Amani helped him as he brought back the meat to the castle.
Amani: So you are her errand boy?
Benjiro: Nah, I do this on my own.
Amani: She lets you do such a thing?
Benjiro: Aurora doesn't care what I do as long as I don't lack on my daily promises with her.
Amani: Promises? Are you not her caretaker?
Benjiro: She is a Witch; she doesn't need a caretaker...
Amani: Then why promise anything to her? I don't understand your purpose-
Benjiro bonked her softly on the head and sighed heavily at her.
Benjiro: You don't need to be employed or anything to help out. I do this because Aurora is close to me, almost like a family member.
Amani: A family member...how foolish.
Benjiro ignored her the rest of the day after that, as she constantly asked questions and bickered. Her turn with Ravenbeard eventually came around as he spent time in the local pub. Amani looked at her glass of water, raising her eyebrow at him.
Amani: This is all you do?
Ravenbeard: Aye, we not be on the sea anytime soon...so might as well drink!
Amani: Right, you are a pirate...yet you are shackled here.
Ravenbeard: Nay, not shackled. I came along because of my two mates...if it weren't for them, I'd be slowly dying in a cave.
Amani: A cave?
Ravenbeard: Aye, been trapped for years underneath the Sand Witch's temple...
Amani: So that is what was in her temple...I always wondered why she built it.
Ravenbeard: Wasn't her fault, it turns out...that damned assistant of her's cursed the bloody place!
Amani: Serves her right, trusting human trash-
Ravenbeard: Nay lass, you lot be as human as the rest of us.
Amani: As if! I don't see you sprouting wings and flying!
Ravenbeard started to laugh at her as he drank. Clawe was on his shoulder, tilting its head at Amani.
Amani: What's so funny?!
Ravenbeard: It be the fact you think that is what makes you not a human, lass. Just because ye have powers the others don't, it doesn't make you much better than I.
Amani: Whatever you say...
Ravenbeard: We all are the same in the heart.
Amani: What do you mean, the heart?
Ravenbeard: You strive to be as free as I did, all them years ago. Yer sisters all have their feelings but share the same goals as the rest of us.
Amani: Because my sisters are foolish, I am not like them. You will see tomorrow!!
Ravenbeard: That I will lass, a toast then. To the last of me days!
Ravenbeard clanged his mug against her glass and laughed; Amani looked at him weirdly. Then, finally, the last day approached; Amani got up from her bed and walked out her door to see Akeru and Itsuki, smiling and waiting for her.
Akeru: Hey! Ready for the last day?
Amani: You mean your last day? I still hate you all...
Itsuki: Yeah yeah, let's get a move on. We got plans today!
Amani: Plans...?
Akeru took her arm and dragged her away, smiling at her while Itsuki smirked at them.
Akeru: Mhmm! We wanted to do something fun today with you. If it is our last day, we want to enjoy it at least!
Amani nodded as Akeru led her away. The clock was ticking; they had 14 hours left to convince the harpy.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
