《Majo Magica》Chapter 44

About a week later, the Grand Realm was finally complete. The group met in the throne room, where Aurora clapped her hands once.
Aurora: We are finally done with the Grand Realm!
Akeru: Not to be rude, but...why did it take so long?
Ci: We are making a realm to fit not only eleven Witches, but also you lot. It requires a lot of magic to create, and it doesn't help that someone didn't want to help half of the time.
Cleo: The hell are you trying to get at?!
Benjiro: Cleo...
Cleo: Hmph, whatever...
Itsuki: So now what? We set up the Link points, right?
Aurora: Precisely...Ci told me you linked one in the courtyard area, correct?
Itsuki: Yeah, so I assume I'm going to link those?
Ci: Yes, you and Cleo are going-
Itsuki: No way.
Cleo: Got a problem with me?
Itsuki: That's too long of a journey to deal with her...
Cleo: Excuse me?!
Ci: I know she is a handful, but I need to stay and help with the Grand Realm.
Itsuki: Help with it?
Aurora: Like a Chamber, it's just an empty white void...so we need to add things to it! That's why I sent Benjiro and the others to gather wood and other things to build a lovely house there!
Akeru: So that's why we had to gather things...I wondered why we had to gather so many logs and other material...
Itsuki: Why do you need a house for? Couldn't you just put beds and such in there just by itself?
Ci: Well, technically, yes...it's more of Aurora's idea to make a home there. Once we gather the other Witches, we plan on creating nature there as well.
Aurora: I want my sisters and your friends to feel nice and cozy at home!
Itsuki: She is too pure for this world...
Ci: With that said...you two should be one your way. Cleo and I decided the best places to put the Link points in Polisha and Arezilia so that you may set your Link point next to them. Try not to overlap; two portals on top of each other could cause an issue.

Itsuki: What do you mean?
Cleo: The teleporting gets wonky if you do it like that; besides, think about how awkward it would be getting out at the same time as someone else.
Itsuki: Right...so I guess we should go then?
Cleo snapped her fingers and made a floating sand carpet appear. She jumped on it and lay sideways on it.
Cleo: Come on.
Itsuki blinked and jumped on it as he fell through, Cleo laughing at him.
Cleo: You idiot! Hahaha! What a dumbass!
Benjiro: Ahem...
Cleo: Fine, fine, I won't make him fall anymore...
Itsuki jumped on the sand carpet again and sat down, looking pissed off as they flew away at high speeds out of the throne room.
Ci: Godspeed, you two...
Aurora: I hope she doesn't cause too much trouble...
Benjiro: So what do we need to do now?
Ci: Carry the supplies in, and I'll transport them into the realm and start building; it shouldn't be too difficult for me to do.
Benjiro nodded as he took Akeru and Ravenbeard to gather up the supplies. Itsuki held onto the sand carpet, trying not to fly off as Cleo lay there, not even phased by the speed.
Itsuki: How does this not affect you at all?!
Cleo: Oh, quit being a baby; it's not even going that fast. I can make it go faster if you want~
Itsuki: I will literally fall to my death if we do that...
Cleo: No skin off my bones, after all...you did steal from me-
Itsuki: Are you still upset over that?!
Cleo: Of course I am! I earned all of that treasure!
Itsuki: I've been meaning to ask, but why did you put a Hunt out for your Manticore?
Cleo: I never said it was my Manticore.
Itsuki: Pardon...?
Cleo: It flew in as I put my treasure into the temple.
Itsuki: And you didn't kill it?
Cleo: Of course not, it wasn't bothering anything, but eventually, I got bored and decided to make a game out of trying to kill it. But your kind is dumb and couldn't figure out how to even get into the cave-

Itsuki: People got in just fine...its the cursed cave that was the issue! There were so many bones in there-
Cleo: Cursed cave? I remember there being a cave...but it wasn't cursed by any means!
Itsuki: There was a door inside that Ravenbeard had to cut off his own damn leg to open!
Cleo: That's absurd; I didn't put that there...the door didn't exist-...Archerd...
Cleo gritted her teeth as the carpet started to go faster.
Cleo: That annoying pest probably put it there to ensure no one got the Sand Key!!!
Itsuki: Okay, that's great, slow down, please!!
Cleo huffed as the sand carpet slowed down. They made it to the now destroyed city of Polisha in under an hour at the speed there were going. Itsuki hopped off and looked around.
Itsuki: So this is all that was left??
Cleo: Yes, I'm afraid so...
Itsuki: Well, can you not uncover it?
Itsuki looked at her as she had her head down, making a fist in her hand hard enough that her nails cut into her palm and made it bleed.
Cleo: Why would I do such a thing!?
Itsuki: Huh?
Cleo: Everyone hated me there! I built that city; I gave them all shelter...sure I may have been a bitch at times...but I tried my best! Yet everyone there acted so happily towards me, but I know how they all felt...
Cleo let out a small tear as she started to walk into the flooded city.
Cleo: Every day...I thought they all loved me as their Sultana; I never gave taxes...I just smiled and did what I thought was acceptable as a ruler. But when I had that outburst that day...I heard them all scream in terror that their Witch Sultana, who had been a horrible leader, finally showed her true face.
Cleo fell to her knees suddenly and cried more.
Cleo: Why...why does everyone hate me!? I tried to be friendly, and my sisters hated me...I tried to be what I am now, and everyone still hates me! Why!? Why is Aurora the only one...to ever tell me she was proud of me?!
Itsuki: People hate you because you keep trying to act like a god, but you are just human-
Cleo: But I'm not human!
Itsuki: That's the issue...you are, you might have the power near a god...but that doesn't make you one. You Witches are just as human as us all...
Cleo: Shut up...you don't-
Itsuki: I do understand...I understand more than anyone your pain.
Itsuki sat next to her, his head resting on his kneecaps as he gazed into the horizon.
Itsuki: I used to be like you; I wanted to make everyone happy...to be a hero. I didn't care what the cost was, as long as I made people smile. I don't remember much of my dad, but I tried to make him proud of me every moment. Then he left me...I've been alone for years until I met Akeru. You keep trying to be a bitch, someone who doesn't care about anything or gets mad over minor things...but that isn't you.
Cleo: I...
Itsuki: If you didn't care, you wouldn't be tearing up right now. I don't care what you are like, as long as you stop acting like something you are not.
Cleo:...That's the man's exact words- That Benjiro said to me...no one has ever told me that they don't care who I am. In one way, that isn't good because it sounds like you don't care for me at all...but in another way, it's nice to know that three people don't care what I am like.
Cleo suddenly stood up and made her Link point, smiling at him as she kissed him on the cheek and went back to her sand carpet. Itsuki blushed, made his Link point quickly, and walked back to the carpet with her. He wasn't sure what that was about, but at least she was in a better mood.
