《Eternal Requiem》Interlude of Questions

Tears flow down the Queen’s cheeks as I recap my experience with her son, working for Jissepi,
“He sacrificed himself so that I could live,” I lie to queen, Omari clearly intended to kill me as well, but I have to be smart about this.
“Though he may be gone, his will lives on within me,” I finish.
Standing silently in the room for a few minutes the queen cries silently, Lyra stares at me in disbelief,
“Kage,” the queen swallows, “I thank you for at least giving me closure on the whereabouts of my son, you may stay and rest up here for now I need some time alone, I will speak with you later.”
We silently exit the room while the Queen sits calmly smoking her pipe.
“I’ll show you to my room so you may rest up,” Lyra whispers.
……
“I have some questions.” Lyra demands, as we sit atop the bed in her room
“What would you like to know?” I yawn, “I have some questions myself”
“Was what you said about knowing the prince true?”
“Yes, we were er…colleagues,”
“Where were you from originally then?”
“I’m not sure,”
Lyra rolls her eyes at my evasiveness,
“What was that magic you used earlier?” she points to my bow
“I’m not sure either,”
“Huhhh you’re just as bad as Pinoki she accuses, “Liar!”
“I’m not,”
“Who doesn’t know their magic?”
“Can you explain it to me?”
“You can ask the queen all the important stuff later,” Lyra shrugs, “I don’t really get those sort of things.”
“Can ask I you some questions now?”
“Fine,” she says reluctantly
“Why were you in the holy city if you live down here?”

“Be…” Lyra pauses hesitating to answer,
“Because everyone is content now.”
“Hmm?”
“This house was where we all grew up, after the war, I remember we planned to get strong and reclaim our city, or to leave the city entirely,
Now everyone’s ok with a life down here, Pinoki, Karina, Apollo, you met those three,
Pinoki’s a scammer, Apollo is set on leading this place, Karina’s the only one who still lives here and that’s because she’s the most attached to the Queen, I’m the only one who still wants to live with an actual sky above my ahead, call me naïve I don’t care.”
“You could always dedicate yourself,” I joke
“Haaa! Why didn’t you though?
I saw you up there, back when we first met,” Lyra questions
“I was thinking about it, but I realized there are still things I must do,
“Like?”
“I haven’t figured that out yet,”
“So, help me!?” the girl implores, “we can take back the kingdom,”
“Not my fight really.”
“Then what was all that, ‘Omari entrusted me with his will’, nonsense you told the Queen!?”
“….I wasn’t entirely lying about that, his regret, I feel it, he wanted to return one day and save you bu-“
“-then join me?”
“But, as I was saying his fight is not mine, what purpose do I have in fighting for a place I don’t belong to? I escaped death so many times, I don’t think I can put myself in harm’s way again.”
“So, you’re a coward,” Lyra scowls, “I thought you being the first person I met who wasn’t already ‘dedicated’, meant something, now I see I was wrong for bringing you here!” she angrily turns pulling up the thin covers over herself,
“I’m going to rest, touch me and I’ll freeze you to death.”

Palus Somni
It is the final days after the end of the world and you only have one month left before the last sanctuary erupts into chaos. There's a dead body hanging from a tree and cadaverous giants watch you sleep at night. The end is already here, you just don't know it yet. Now rated in the top 3% of all novels on Royal Road! Palus Somni (‘Marsh of Sleep’) is a worldbuilding webnovel about what happens when your God forsakes you. Inspired by gothic horror and mingled with British myth and folklore, join the Alucinari nuns as they struggle with day-to-day life after the world has ended. Every night when the sun sets the monstrous Gol, colossal beings with too many teeth, awaken and roam the marshlands. Only those with a faithful heart will be spared. Young acolyte Wille has never seen the walls fail, but when a fellow nun is murdered within their sanctum the very safety of the monastery is thrown into question. Did the Gol find a way to breach their defences, or is there a human traitor amongst them? The answer lies both far in the past and deep beneath the earth, through the maze of ancient catacombs. With a cast of over thirty different characters, watch as your friends and enemies spiral into inevitable madness at the hands of a callous and unforgiving world. Discover the secrets of Palus Somni through letters, diary entries and notes found scattered across the monastery. Uncover the mystery of the grotesque giants that stalk the night and bring your challenge to the Gods themselves. Each character has their own handmade pixel art, and every update includes a music recommendation for a dark atmospheric dungeon synth album that you can listen to while you read. Slice of life meets cosmic abomination: Palus Somni is a collection of intertwining stories, some chapters are stand-alone tales while others feed into the overarching narrative. It is an exploration into a community, and rather than focusing on any one character the story meanders through the convent, exposing the hopes and fears of its inhabitants. Story updates every full moon.

The Desecrator's Tomb - A Numbers Lit-aRPG
A man appears in a dungeon full of undead. He tries to leave. This is my attempt at writing a litrpg where the system is more formalized. This means that there will be a fair amount of min-maxing and we will hopefully be able to calculate the dps of every ability by the time I am done. Expect math. The main character will become a Drain Tank. This story uses an aRPG item and stat system. Oh and one last thing. Beware the penguins. update 1/8/22: I am trying to simulate things as faithfully as is reasonable. As of chapter 17 there are animated gifs depicting Chilly's life throughout encounters. update 1/11/22: Kreksyte drew me a cover! All hail our artist overlords! update 5/25/22: Going on hiatus for a bit. The second arc is complete. Will come back for the 3rd and final arc soon. update 7/15/22: ayy...I've returned. Starting the third and final arc. [was once a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Nobody's Way
Foreign Thorn: Book 1 For eight centuries, the people of Isla have wanted for nothing. The Creator, Maere, uses Her power not only to keep them healthy and fed, but also to map the direction of each person's future Path - their vocation, role in society, and even the partner they'll spend their life with. In a world where infighting once threatened the very survival of humankind, the old texts say that Maere personally stepped in to help guide Her creations to harmony. All is not well among the people of the northern lands, however, as Jian discovers when she receives her own long-awaited Path. The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. When the two leave the safety of the familiar and meet Quinn, a mysterious boy who seems to know more about Jian than she does about herself, it becomes clear that there are forces besides the old magics, forces completely unknown to the people of Isla, in play. Madrigal and Jian aren't sure if Quinn can be trusted, but they're certain he knows more than he's letting on...
