《Player of Trials》Dark Corridor (2)

As an orange light spread from the Torchlight's blade and illuminated the corridor, holding it prepared to swing anytime, Leon rushed towards to the monsters.
*Keeeghhh!*
As Leon gets closer to his foes with every step he takes, the monster's screams resound louder through the dark corridor as if they are trying to tell that the death is coming for their preys.
But what they don't know is, they are not the hunter here... They are the preys...
A few meters away from the closest monster, "Activate [FASTER REFLEXES]" Leon commanded.
[REMANINING TIME SECONDS]
As the world slowed and let Leon see everything more clearly, "Let's begin..." Leon muttered while raising the Torchlight to begin the massacre.
Seeing the claw attack of the first monster in slow motion, swinging the Torchlight with inhumane speed, Leon splits the creature into two. And before the first monster's blood touches to the floor, Leon has already moved on to another for showing his "greeting" with the Torchlight.
Leon either cut them in half with his sword or cut their heads off before they even reacted to his attacks. He wandered among them as if this place was his playground and they were just their toys that are... destined to be broken. With every swing sending a limb to air, and with the heat of Torchlight burning their inner organs with his every slash, Leon delivered death to them.
[REMANINING TIME SECONDS]
Stabbing his sword to the head of another monster before kicking the other and pulling one of them's tail to tear apart from its place, Leon fully focused his mind on the battle he was having now. But the more he killed, the more monster came after the fallen ones to him like a flood.

But despite this overwhelming difference in power, some monsters managed to wound Leon.

As blood dripped from Leon's shoulder to the floor just only to mix with the green blood of monsters.
Turning and seeing the claws that stuck in his shoulder where the blood drips, catching from the claw, Leon pulled the monster toward himself.
[-60 MP] [MP: 680/940]
Grasping the creature's head, "[Crimson Flames]," Leon said, causing it to scream in pain when the blood-colored flames completely engulfed the monster's head.
[REMANINING TIME SECONDS]
[SKILL (FASTER REFLEXES) HAS BEEN DEACTIVATED]
When the world turned back to normal, loosening his grip, Leon let the monster fall to the floor as the crimson flames covered its head by leaving behind a disgusting burning smell while the creature cried out in pain.
*Keeeegh!*
Turning his head and seeing more of them coming towards him, "Tsk, this will take some time," Leon said as he stabbed the Torchlight into the monster's head causing it to stop its noisy screams.
*Squelch*
*Squelch*
Walking on the green blood of the dead monsters, "Burning veins," Leon cast a spell as a magic circle appeared for a second in his hand.
After the magic circle disappeared, suddenly, all of Leon's veins started turning red, as if fire was running through them.
*Inhale*
Feeling the energy flowing in him, Leon took a deep breath while closing his eyes for a second.
*Keeghhh!*
After he opened his eyes again, two red glowing dots pierced the darkness and looked directly at the monsters.
"Let's find out how loud you guys can scream," Leon said as he ran towards to the new wave of monsters.
Kicking the floor before jumping, Leon landed on an unlucky one after a second by splitting it in two with the Torchlight.
Sending a vertical slash to the next ones, Leon opened a deep wound in three of them by causing their inner organs to fall from the wound. Passing through them like the wind without stopping, Leon attacks to next foe.

While the green blood painted the corridor with every minute that passed, the more foe fell to the ground with death eyes.

But unfortunately, unlike the time when was the [FASTER REFLEXES] active, this time, Leon couldn't encounter all of their attacks and took some damage. Good thing this "burning veins" spell seems to lessen the pain. So, even though the creatures stabbed, clawed, or bit him, the only thing Leon felt was the adrenaline flowed through his veins that pushed him further and further in fight.
The only thing that could be heard in the dark corridor were the screams of the monsters, the Torchlight's blade which cuts the air, and sometimes a fireball's explosion sound.

*Pant*
*Pant*
After a few minutes of fighting and casting spells, Leon was resting among the dead corpses of the monsters. Some of them were without limbs, some of them's inside opened like a flower, some of them burned, and some of them were still burning.
"Huff, I hope this was the last wave," Leon hoped, because one more wave means his death.
"System, show me my stats," Leon commanded.

[Qi: 700/900]

"... At least I have some Qi left," Leon motivated himself while looking at his poor stats.
"Whatever, I can't stay this corpse stinking place forever," Leon said as he started walking forward in the corridor. Seeing more landscapes made of human corpses, Leon "enjoyed" his journey.
"Seriously? What the hell happened here?" Leon wondered, after seeing more than hundreds of human corpses on the way.
*Step*
*Step*
Seeing a door painted with blood in front of him, "Ugh, why does it look familiar?" Leon asked before opening the door slowly.
The first thing Leon notices after opening the door is a dimensional gate that blind him for a second with its with its bright light.
And the seconds thing is... a four meters tall monster standing ahead of the dimensional gate.
"You look even uglier than them," Leon said while unsheathing the Torchlight and using analyze on it.

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.

Avine: The Journey
Avine, the name recorded in the oldest records of faith concerning the creation of the world. The lands of Avine are in turmoil. A lengthy war recently ended. Casualties were terrible, but not limited to the dead alone. Breakdowns occurred in society, and kingdoms struggled with civil unrest and a never-ending stream of refugees. Mariel Bluegale has lived a relatively uneventful life. Largely sheltered from prejudice by her parents Serin and Arwaro, she grew up in a kingdom that prospered thanks to its strictly neutral policy. But the winds of war are once more on the horizon. Peace is merely the prelude to a new, even bigger conflict, one which may be decided on the identity of one. Release schedule: One chapter a week for the forseeable future. Reality caught up with me, this means I have to scale back my writing time considerably. I promise to finish it, but it will be in pieces, and likely around holidays. As always, any -painful- errors (spelling, flow, consistency or time) please let me know.
