《Rise To The Absolute Zenith》Chapter 42: Another Mission

Moving to the last grave, he said emotionlessly once more.
"Brittany, I'm only doing this because we were teammates... and you were a good girl who didn't deserve this."
At the final grave, he said, "You were honest, brave, but very annoying, but I know you meant good for your friends. Your braveness was proven when risking your life to chase after Brittany who was blinded by anger.
But sometimes...
Braveness turns to stupidity, and you were incredibly stupid, without even realizing...!"
He said, before turning around and walking toward the camp once more.
...
...
...
"What did you say?!" Dolion asked in shock after hearing Blade's words.
Blade had just come from burying Athena and the others, and when re-entering the little boss's camp, Blade said to Dolion.
"Well, you better get ready. Seeing as we are heading multiple kilometers deeper into the forest, it would prove smatter to enter when it's still day."
Dolion remained unmoving for some time, Blade said, "It doesn't make sense to once more enter the Heavenly Demon Sect. After all, we aren't aware of who is our enemy. Plus, after consuming the healing pill, the poison has already been nullified!"
His words once more brought up the mysterious question which was, where did those pills come from.
"W-Where-...!"
It was a mystery to him. A mystery that, Dolion, wanted to solve. But, before he could possibly finish his sentence, Blade raised his hand, gesturing for him to stop, as Blade said.
"We both have our secrets.
You, like me, aren't possibly even human.
I have secrets, you have secrets, and we both shouldn't pry into each other's secrets until our trust for one another reaches a level where we think it would be safe too."
With those words, Dolion smiled bitterly.
'Even after undergoing two months together, and going inches close to death's doors together, he still doesn't trust me...'
Dolion thought. But, he didn't show his disappointment, as with a happy smile on his face, he said. "Well, where are we going exactly..?" For Blade to reply, "I don't know exactly. But, there isn't a need to rush." Blade said while a cold and ruthless smirk surfaced on his face.
This smirk caused Dolion to feel a shiver run up his spine, as Blade gazed at the three white rings in the index, middle, and ring fingers of his right hand. 'This thing, it is called a Space Ring?' Blade asked his system, as the smell of burning meat assaulted his nose.

{Yes, though this one has a small storage space inside, of only two meters cube, it would still be useful to you especially to store food. Since it is a completely different space, the time inside flows differently and is normally slower compared to the outside world}
Confirming this, Blade exited the camp and walked toward the massive pit filled with dead bodies, as he took a few random burned corpses out.
'So, simply will for it to go in right?' Blade asked his system. After gaining confirmation from the system, Blade did just that, as he was left in amazement when a light shot out of the Space Ring and washed over the four bodies before they simply disappeared.
Willing for one to reappear, Blade made sure he could wield it correctly and flawlessly before he then left the location, but now with four bodies, all were his and Dolion's future meals.
{Do you truly plan to eat that?} The system asked almost in disbelief.
'Of course.
I've long come to terms that I'm not human.
So what's wrong with someone of another race eating the meat of other races. Humans eat animals and beasts, why can't I eat humans.
Is it because they are sentient? It doesn't change anything whatsoever.
Meat is meat.
It tastes the same way does it not...'
THRUM!!
If it wasn't obvious, Blade's mentality had evolved even further down a path of no return after the severe levels of torture he had undergone over the past couple of months.
Arriving by the leader's camp once more, he entered, to see Dolion who had just finished his meal.
And even though Dolion's complexion was still pale, making Blade feel a tinge of anger toward the already dead bandits, Dolion was otherwise, normal...
"Let's get going!" Blade ordered. Like an obedient wife, Dolion listened as he followed Blade out of the tent and by further extension, out of the whole camp of bandits.
Courtesy to the bandits, Dolion and Blade weren't currently bare. Dolion adorned himself in a dark blue t-shirt, and black pants with a purple martial art belt around his waist.
Blade was adorned in an all-black shirt and pants with a similarly black martial art belt wrapped around his waist.
His tall figure of 6'2, along with his muscular body, could be seen printing through the fitted clothing, and even Dolion's toned body could be seen, giving him a beautiful contrast between cute, and mature.

Before taking his next move, Blade observed the holographic screen only he could see, stationed in front of his eyes.
[System Mission]
[Name: Voyage To The Portal]
[Content-Alerted by an unknown entity, the system has come to be aware of a mysterious force that has created a portal in the location marked X. This portal leads to Limitless Sky World. One of the four major powers inside the Main Continent in this plane]
[Goal: Find the portal at the depths of the cave]
[Time Limit: None]
[Reward: 5 System Points]
[Failure: How can you fail even with a map given by me. Well, even if you do fail, the system can't do anything to harm you...]
The hologram disappeared after he finished reading its contents.
In the corner of his vision, two blue dots that represented himself and Dolion could be seen as they walked on a trail that would eventually lead to the closest location to the location marked in a red X.
While following the dirt trail through the forestry, Blade ordered his system to rid the map from his sight.
Seeing as he merely needed to follow the trail, it didn't make sense to have the map that would constantly distract him present.
If he needed it, he would simply ask for it to appear.
'What is this System Points anyway? Is it even useful for me?!' Blade asked with annoyance clear from the expression on his face.
{Take everything one upgrade at a time. When the system reaches a satisfactory level, all answers would be revealed}
The mysterious sentence made by the system didn't help in easing Blade's agitation. He then asked the more important of the two questions plaguing his mind.
'And this "Unknown Entity"... who is this?'
{As I said before. Everything will be revealed once the system has reached a satisfactory level} The system replied, once more annoying Blade.
"Are you okay?!" Dolion asked. Blade, who was biting his lips in anger, made him out to seem like someone who was trying his utter hardest, to hold in a serious shit...
Cough!
"Y-Yes... I am..."
Slightly embarrassed, Blade avoided Dolion's eyes, and instead focused on the conversation between his system.
'Well, answer this at least. Is this Unknown Entity able to see my every action?' He asked.
{The power of the Unknown Entity is unimaginable. Outside the comprehension of your Mortal mind. You shouldn't worry about this until you're strong enough}
Once more, the system successfully evaded answering Blade's question with an easy, and understandable answer.
Picking up on this fact, Blade released a breath of air, hoping to calm his nerves from the severe agitation he currently felt.
Now that he had realized his system was somewhat useless in terms of getting answers to the questions that were plaguing him, he decided to instead ignore his system, and focus on completing the mission he was given.
After all, even he was excited by the contents of the mission, and this mysterious thing called a portal, was able to send him straight to the main continent.
He wasn't completely ignorant though. And he understood the overall meaning of the word portal.
He had read multiple fantasy stories in his time back in his home world, so he was not a total newbie.
Anyway, the duo made it deeper into the forest as the day would slowly turn into night, and the green sun would be replaced by a splendorous moon that reflected the green light onto the world.
They didn't walk for too long after the sun disappeared. Now that Dolion wasn't at his 100% full capacity and wasn't up to health, Blade knew he couldn't push too much and should instead take his time.
After all, there wasn't a time limit, so there wasn't a rush.
This night, the duo would sleep at the top of the tallest trees they could find.
As Dolion's sleeping body would bathe in the shining light from the moon of this plane, Blade would sit in a meditative position as he would try to sense the Life Energy, and draw it into his body.
"Huh?"
Blade mumbled in shock, as he found himself in an unexpected situation.

Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
