《The Transcenders》Chapter 20 - The Awakening

Tremblay, Brol City. This city was one of the cities that drew the border between what was the Tremblay Guild’s territory and what was a part of the Wandering Lands.
There, Aaron, Alex and Isaac were flying aboard their personal S-Craft.
The city was foggy, but they could still catch glimpses of the chaos beneath them.
Brol was under attack. It couldn’t do much to oppose the new Topaz guild’s forces.
“Are you sure we will be fine like this?”
“Don’t worry, guys. We’ve almost passed the borders.” Alex was the one flying the aircraft.
He turned his head to look at Aaron and Isaac. They were sitting down on their chairs, doing absolutely nothing.
The was a wide window in the back of the S-Craft, and through it, Alex noticed something. There was a ship after them. A few characters indicated the model: RC-205.
“Oh shit!”
“A Rocket Crux is pursuing us!”
The aircraft was thrice as big as their tiny S-Craft.
The Rocket Crux’s loading ramp was extended. On it, three people were facing them.
The younger one smiled. “Heh! Fire!”
*BVOOM* A red beam landed on the back of the S-Craft.
*Cough!* Alex looked at the state of the ship. The back had gotten obliterated. There was smoke everywhere. “Is everyone alright?! I lost control of the S-Craft!”
Aaron was kneeling on the floor. He straightened Isaac into a sitting position against a wall. “No! Isaac lost his consciousness!”
Isaac’s head had gotten injured by the impact.
“Dammit! Who did this?!” Aaron grabbed his sniper. He took a look at the perpetrators through his scope.
What he saw left him speechless. It was his younger brother, Rico, and his two guards. ‘He’s… laughing?’
Explo had almost finished charging her weapon.

“They are attacking again! I got an idea!” declared Aaron.
He walked up the gap in the back of the S-Craft, then extended his arms and focused on his wind magic.
Since the controls weren’t working, he tried to guide the ship with magic.
Thankfully, S-Crafts were small, so it wasn’t impossible to change their direction. However, it required Aaron a lot of mana.
*Bvooom!*
They managed to avoid Explo’s second beam.
Nevertheless, Alex realized that their speed was increasing rapidly. ‘Aaron won’t be able to hold for long. We’re going to crash. I need to help him, but how?!’
An idea appeared in his mind. It was the only solution he could think of at the moment.
He pressed a button: [emergency landing].
It worked. Three parachutes appeared atop the S-Craft. *Wooosh!*
Over on the other ship, Rico was getting annoyed. “This is it! Die, brother!”
“Fire!”
*Bvooom!*
While the parachutes kept them from crashing and made them go higher, it slowed down the S-Craft so much that Aaron couldn’t avoid it.
Two new holes made their appearance. One was at the bottom of the ship and the other at the top. They separated Alex from Aaron and Isaac.
The parachute had also gotten pierced.
All hope seemed lost.
Time seemed to have slowed down.
“This is it. We’re going to die! Isaac, wake up at least!” Aaron begged while shaking Isaac’s body.
Finally, Isaac did awaken. But not in the way that Aaron anticipated. His pupilless eyes glowed red. A red aura radiated around him.
Aaron’s hands started frying, so he quickly withdrew them. “What the- Isaac?!”
With an absent expression, Isaac stood up.

Also available on Audible! After centuries of endless wars, the three greatest nations of the continent have come together in peace. As a symbol of their cooperation, they have worked together to establish the Grand Academy of Spiritual, Martial, and Arcane Arts, a place where the best and brightest of each nation can gather on neutral ground and share knowledge, techniques, and cultures. Can the peace truly last, or is the academy just another proxy for the constant conflicts the three nations face? None of that matters to Lee Jia, a homeless young girl who's biggest concern is surviving the winter. But when she accidentally stumbles into the academy in search of a new place to stay, her destiny is changed forever. Determined to carve out a new place for herself and make the most of her good fortune, Lee Jia dives head first into the world of magic and martial arts. Fates Parallel is my first serious attempt at writing a story, and a personal love letter to Eastern fantasy and xianxia stories. It's heavily inspired by East Asian culture, folklore, and mythology, with what is likely going to be a decidedly Western artistic license. I try to write every day, with a goal of about 45,000 words per month (~1500 per day). Chapter lengths are around 3000 words on average, releasing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Cover art drawn by the incredibly talented Tsuu (TsurotArtistry).

Welcome to the world of Fantasiaia, a world full of magic, epic monsters, heroic battles and more! It's the new, cutting edge VRMMORPG world what everyone has dreamed about! And now welcome Markus Fickus, your average young man in our average and boring world! He was just an ordinary man, until one day, something changed his whole life. As he ate his breakfast on that fateful morning, little did he know that he would choke on his coffee and die—just to be reincarnated in the world of Fantasiaia! "Wait, what?" Mark said, looking up from his bowl of cereal. He didn't follow the script properly, and forgot to prepare his coffee. "I thought Fantasiaia was a VRMMO," Mark muttered as he made his way to his coffee machine. "How can someone reincarnate into a game?" Of course, what Mark didn't know was that logic and reason didn't matter. It was magic! Besides, everyone loves virtual reality stories and reincarnation novels. So why not have both? Mark shook his head sadly, but prepared his coffee in silence. When he finished, he looked up at the sky—and saw only the dull white ceiling of his apartment. He felt utterly cheated that the last thing he would see in this world was the peeling paint on the wall. "They are not paying me enough for this," Mark grumbled, then drank up his coffee. And then he died. PS: I found the cover picture on THE INTERNET. By no means will I tell you the artist's name or give any credit to them, but I let you know that the image is not mine.
