As the sunlight engulf the room of a small blacksmith shop in the town of Vertelia, the young girl that resides within this abode awakens.

Still recovering from the effects of slumber, she staggers toward the bathroom wishing for a shower.

Once she was out of the shower, she looked into the mirror to see a towel cloaked girl with hair; white as snow and eyes so blue it would put the clear skies to shame, her skin a russet, reddish-brown; accompanied by the fox-like ears and tail that would get her mistaken for a wild animal.

Getting dressed in her white and black coat and equipping her custom-made rapier; to her belt, she gets ready to start the day she waited her whole life for: "The day I become an arcanist." she mumbles to herself as if she didn't want anyone to hear her.

She walks out the door wondering what kind of food will be offered in the Arcanum academy: A academic facility for people attuned to magic known as Arcana.

She makes her way towards the academy, greeting every shop owner in sight since she was familiar with all the other Vulpins: Humans who have fox ears and tails with a high affinity for Arcana; within the shopping district. As she continues, she hears a voice behind her; "Yukina, you were supposed to wait for me!" exclaimed the red-headed Vulpin girl wearing a red jack with a golden collar who's currently catching up to Yukina. "Well, good morning to you too, Akko," replied Yukina in a sarcastic tone.

Upon closer inspection, Yukina, compared to Akko, seemed like a child. "Up yours!" retorted Akko to the sarcastic remark, now displaying a face inflicted with anguish before suddenly melting into a giggle before the two burst into laughter and continue walking to the academy.

As the two make their way past the open gates of the academy, Yukina feels a presence of malice; not of a person or an animal but something else entirely. "Yukina, come on; let's go," Akko said while looking back at her distracted friend. "Huh? Oh yeah, coming!" Yukina replied upon entering the academy. Once inside Yukina, and Akko begin to head to the Dining hall to have their morning meal and get ready for their first day at the academy.
