《The Noble Curse of Ookami [Previously Titled: CLOSER]》Scary Thought

The silver-haired boy, Karito, insisted that he didn't belong here. But Yuukai's assistant kept holding onto him. Yuukai didn't do anything at that moment, he just observed Karito and let him wrestle with his assistant for a short time, before he decided to relax and sit on his bed and breathe.
"What exactly do you want from me?" Karito suddenly turned his head toward Yuukai.
Yuukai moved one chair near Karito's bed, and sat on it, "We need your help. We know that this is not your place and time, but the country is counting on us,"
"I don't want to do this anymore, I have to go home now," Karito answered with anguish. He seemed to have a grudge toward someone or something. He then looked at me, and continue to talk, "You don't know how much it takes to undo the curse,"
Undo the curse? Karito said as he was one of the ancestors who actually lived in the era before the curse. Back then I was so intrigued by what Karito said, and the sincere feeling of him not wanting to undo the curse just because it was too tiring to do.
Turned out that Karito was one of the saviors explained by Yuukai earlier. He, or the man inside his body was actually one of the leaders of the saviors. The elite three, including me. Which means that we need to find the other one to be able to proceed to undo this curse.
"He is not the same as me," Karito pointed at me, "he is someone else," he said some enigmatic lines that weren't understood by me at that time. He then sighed and wiped his face. "I need to see the world around," he then got out of bed, and walked outside the room, accompanied by one of Yuukai's assistants.

Yuukai then turned to me to further confirm that Karito is one of the saviors' souls that he'd been looking for, and that I must be nice to him, because well... essentially, he was hundreds of years older than me. I wonder if the real Karito wouldn't mind if an ancient soul took over his body.
The thought of someone else taking over your body is scary. Imagine someday you woke up from your sleep and didn't come back to the place you were sleeping, but instead somewhere else, where you can't control your body. Otherwise, maybe you will never wake up again.
As the night followed, Yuukai gave me the key to my room in the school building. With views across the island. That's right, this school is located on an artificial island southeast of the mainland of the country. He said that this was done to protect the school itself from darkness' attacks.
I always wonder, since when has this school existed? I've never noticed anything about it until now. It sort of just popped into existence. The reason it was built was to protect the country from the darkness since a long time ago, but I don't have any recollection of it.
That night I was thinking about the consequences of my own birth. I imagined alternate realities, where maybe I wasn't born, and thus history wouldn't literally repeat itself. I cried, remembering how good my life was until that point. Realizing that now I have to live this new life, without any familiar faces of families and friends.
I felt it was hard to go on, mainly because I don't want to live this miserable life, even though maybe in the end, I ended up as a hero of some sort, I just don't want to live someone else's life.
I wonder if that's the thing everyone thought of too.

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend

Everyone is a Superhero! Apart from me
Welcome to Loktharma, where everybody is a superhero from birth. That makes Eugene De Lavet the most special of them all. At eighteen years old, he still has no clue what his superpower is. Loktharma has never been a fair world. There are Worldbreakers who were born to brandish the power of the universe, warp time-space, destroy lands and continents. There are Craftmasters who control the elements and terrorize countries with their might and wits. There are Commoners who are only gifted with power for the finer arts, architecture, military arts, or small-scale elemental manipulation. Even in an unjust world like Loktharma, there is always one constant: everyone is assigned a Flair since birth; the power to do something extraordinary. And then there's Eugene. He's been running around in a secluded forest since birth, training and sparring his ass off. While he can wield a blade better than most at his age, he certainly can't throw a giant boulder using the power of his mind, or turn his skin into diamonds. He has no Flair, no purpose for leveling up his stats, and no idea why General Rizeni Baggardo keeps him confined inside a forest for eighteen years. At least until Lord Pyro—the Craftmaster of Tailiah—unleashes his fury on the forest, searching for a treasure Eugene doesn't even know exists. On a frantic escape for his life, Eugene starts to realize he was a part of something he's been completely oblivious to until now. Along with his companions, Melodi and Azra, he travels the land and unveils the secrets of the world. [The story will be told primarily through the lenses of three main characters, with occasional side character POV chapters. It also draws inspiration from Japanese shounen. So only proceed if you're cool with these aspects.]
