《His Majesty's Personal Trainer》Chapter 13

After talking to prince Dorian, I went back to my room and started rummaging through the things in my backpack that was with me when I came here.

"I haven't opened in a week... Well, it's not like its contents would have changed just because I did not open it."

The reason why I was reluctant to open the backpack was simple - it was stuffed with the painkillers that were prescribed to help me relieve the inevitable cancer pains. I did not know if my cancer was somehow miraculously cured once I entered this world, but I also did not have the courage to admit that I was still afraid of it.

I took out all the bottles I had and put them behind the books on the bookcase in my room.

"Here. If I can't see you, then you don't exist."

I finally managed to pull out a small pink make-up bag I was always carrying with me and beamed with excitement.

"Yes! I knew I had you with me!"

I unzipped it and shook out its contents on the bed - a lip balm, a completely untouched set of blushes and highlighters I received as a gift at the event in one of the chain cosmetic stores, a make-up brush, mascara and two new concealers I bought a few days before my incident.

"Now, if I teach Luther to cover his scar with this concealer, he might forgive me and start feeling better about himself in general."

And with that happy thought, I put the concealer in the pocket of my vest, took the book I borrowed, and set off to see Luther in his palace right away. Unfortunately, I was not successful.

I tried visiting prince Luther's library several times, however, no matter how hard I looked, he was nowhere to be found. It also did not help that his servants were never aware of his whereabouts or just pretended they did not know. After more than a week of failed attempts, I gave up and stopped going there at all.

"Well, it is possible that he is busy, he is the Crown Prince, after all."

The second week of training was indeed a bit better than the first one. The knights learned all the exercises and were able to do them without much supervision from my side, their enthusiasm was still high and they all agreed that they felt much more refreshed and full of energy.

I wanted to make an additional input to their motivation, so I asked Raphael to teach me some swordsman skills. He agreed to my request very willingly and we had a two-hours lesson three times a week during their regular swordsman training.

Learning to wield the sword was not easy at all - even the wooden sword was heavy for my athletic frame, and no matter how hard Raphael tried to go easy on me, I could still feel an incredible amount of strength in each of his movements.

One day I came to the training grounds in the evening when the sun was already setting to try and do some solo sword training because the mere thought of me not being able to match even the lowest of Raphael's efforts was interfering with my rest. I pulled out the training wooden sword and started going over the movements and stances that I had already learned. I did not know how many hours I spent waving the sword around, but when I finally paused to take a break, it was already dark and quiet.

"Ugh, I was so involved in the training that I didn't even notice that it was night already... Damn, I have probably missed dinner, I suppose they will not have anyone in the kitchen at this hour."

The thought of going to sleep on an empty stomach was quite upsetting, but since Marion was now a bit more tolerant towards my persona, I decided to still visit the kitchen and try to hunt for some snacks. I was on my way towards the palace when I suddenly felt dizzy and couldn't tell whether the world was spinning around me, or I was falling down in circular movements. When all the spinning stopped, I realized that someone was standing behind me, holding me in their arms.

- Are you alright?

I turned my face to look at the person holding me and almost screamed out of surprise.

- Prince Luther?!

- I'm sorry if I scared you, it looked like you were fainting so I was just trying to be helpful. It seems you like to fall in my direction.

- What?.. Oh, well, thank you... I think I'm good now, you can let me go.

Luther hesitated for a moment but opened his arms in the end and gave me a little push on my back, helping me to straighten up.

- I guess I was lucky you were here. By the way, WHY are you here at this hour?

I took a good look at him - even though his clothes were covered with a blanket during our first encounter, he was dressed quite modestly today - he was still wearing the Imperial uniform, but it only consisted of the black pants and a tight black blouse decorated with the golden ornaments.

"Now that I see him so well, he actually looks quite muscular, definitely more athletic than Dorian... Raphael was so harsh in describing him, but it looks like he can take care of himself."

The Crown Prince scratched his right temple and gave me an awkward smile.

- You stopped visiting the library, so I decided to visit you instead.

- What do you mean? I tried to find you just a couple of days ago but you were nowhere to be found!

- I don't know what you're talking about, I was always in my library.

He shrugged his shoulders and smiled again.

- Wait, so every time I came to the library looking for you, you were just hiding there? Isn't it kinda childish?

I looked up right into his face and suddenly realized one thing - Luther looked almost exactly like Dorian, if it wasn't for his eyes that somehow managed to alter his overall impression, one could assume that Luther was indeed just Dorian with longer hair and contact lenses.

- I wanted to check whether you'd be able to find me there. At some point, I decided to give away my presence the next time you visit but you never did.

- Well, to be honest, I did not really know if you wanted to see me, considering how we parted the first time I came there. I was looking for you because I wanted to return the book... and I also had something to give you as an apology gift.

Prince Luther raised his visible brow at me.

- A gift?

- I don't have it on me right now, but if it's okay with you, we can go up to my room and I'll give it to you today.

- You want me to go up to your room?

"Wait, did it sound like I was inviting him to have some ramen just now?"

- Uhm, shake off the funny thoughts, I REALLY have a gift for you, I think you would appreciate it.

He looked at the palace in front of us and sighed.

- Okay, let's see what kind of gift you have for me, miss Yoona.

When we entered my room, I offered the prince to wait on the sofa while I pulled out my make-up bag once again. I took one of the concealers, sat next to Luther and put it in front of his face.

- Ta-da! I told you I had a real present.

Luther examined the concealer without touching it and then looked at my face again, his visible eye opened widely.

- What is it? It has some strange letters all over it.

- It's called a "concealer", we use it to cover up blemishes on our faces.

- Who are these "we" you speak of?

I realized that he was still not completely aware of my situation.

- Well... We, the disciples, you know!

I tried to laugh it off as naturally as I could but ended up with quite a ridiculous laugh instead.

- I see... So how can one use it?

- You apply it evenly on the parts of your face that have blemishes you wish to cover up and voila, your face looks perfect once again.

He took the concealer from my hand and turned it over several times in his hands. He then opened it and pulled out a small applicator. After staring at it for almost a minute, he shoved it back and handed it back to me.

- I have no idea how this could work. Can you show me?

"Wasn't he supposed to be a smart one since he practically lives in the library? Is he asking me to show how it works on purpose?"

- Uhm... I think you would really appreciate its powers if I tried applying it on... YOUR face.

I honestly did not really know what kind of reaction to expect since the scar on his face was quite a sensitive issue for him. What he did next was something I could never consider an option - the prince leaned closer to me and said quietly,

- Alright, apply it to my face then.

- Are, are you sure?

He just nodded in agreement.

- Okay then... I will start.

I put the concealer bottle in my mouth and brushed the hair up from Luther's face with my left hand. I took a good look at his scar - a thick pinkish line was cutting his cheek underneath his left eye. It did not make him look ugly or scary at all, but I understood where his insecurities were coming from, after all, being able to hide a scar with your clothes was one thing, and having it on your face was the other.

I opened the concealer, took the applicator out and started applying the white liquid over his scar.

- It smells weird.

Prince's emerald eyes focused on mine, I quickly lowered my gaze back to his cheek, cause I found it impossible to concentrate whenever I glimpsed into that deep green. I finished spreading the concealer around and took another look at his whole face.

"Good thing this is an adaptive concealer, his face is way too pale even for the lightest color in the palette."

- All done!

I took my hand away from his hair and watched it fall back on his face. I then placed it carefully behind his left ear and smiled.

- Although I'm not really good with makeup, I think I've done a pretty good job here, go take a look.

Luther looked at me with a doubting look but still got up from the sofa and walked up to the mirror at the dressing table. He leaned over and stared at his reflection for a very long time, then he turned to me again, his eyes tearing up.

- Prince Luther... what's wrong? Is it still not good enough?

I walked up to him and looked carefully at his face again.

- Hmm... I think it covered it pretty well.

- No, it's good... It's really good. My face looks good now...

- Then why are you crying?

He looked away and wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his black blouse.

- I'm sorry, miss Yoona... I just don't remember the last time I was this happy to see my face uncovered.

I stopped another one of his attempts to wipe his eyes by grabbing his arms right in front of his face.

- If you keep doing this, you'll wipe the concealer off.

For the first time since I met him, Luther gave me a very distinct smile that suggested that he was really happy. I could not help but smile too, it was amazing how all these little things could mean so much to a person.

- Prince Luther, I'm gonna give this concealer to you so you can use it whenever you want to go somewhere without covering your face. The bottle is not that big but it can last up to 6 months even with daily use. Although I do hope that one day you'll feel confident enough to go around without using it, I also hope that it will be possible for people here to make something similar in the future. I have another new bottle, so once you're finished, please come to me again and I'll give you the other one.

Luther carefully released his hand from my grip and scratched his chin.

- Well, miss Yoona, I am quite interested in biology and chemistry, so I'll do my best to try and create something similar. I'm sure it will be incredibly popular among the ladies.

He winked at me with his newly exposed eye and pulled up a pleasing smile.

When the prince was about to leave, I remembered that I also wanted to return the book on religion I borrowed.

- You can keep it. You gave me a gift today, so consider it my gift to you as well. And if you still have some questions about religion or anything else for that matter, I'll be waiting for you in my library so feel free to come by any time. I won't be hiding from now on.
