Chapter 30: Ajal; Shauran 45th, 344SR; 17:50
"What is a city rat like you doing here?" A voice uttered from within a dark cave.
"City rat? That's cold," Ajal replied as he glanced around.
Ajal pulled his collar and shook the sleeveless coat he wore, cold air relieved the skin uncomfortably stuck to his clothes. The humid fog around the cave was almost unbearable, the skin around his neck crawled, as he scratched it the side of his face called to his fingers as well. 'Ugh... I hate the heat...' He stood outside a small cave carved out of a boulder, several blue seals and runes we're written on the surface. One word stood out, it was written with chalk against the stone.
'Heretic.'
There was an earthy scent in the moist air, Ajal could only see a short distance through the thick fog. He walked forward and tried to reach into the cave only to feel a wet surface, it rippled like a liquid as he pulled his hand away. Ajal heard a child crying in the distance from somewhere in the fog, he looked around to spot the source, but the crying stopped at the moment he turned. 'What was that?' Ajal turned back to the cave.
"This technique... It's from Nava... How long have you been kept here? Who did this?" Ajal asked.
"Answer my question first, god of death," the man replied.
"I am not a god... There's a rumor from the village at the base of the mountain, a single wolf who went to Nava in search of a solution to the droughts destroying Junipus, when he returned he was sealed away for heresy," Ajal explained.
"Well? Did you confirm your rumor, tyrant?"
"I'm not their pawn, not anymore."
"Yet here you are."
"I don't take orders from them."
"Wrath, dances in the palm of their hand. It's funny, you possess mastery of dark magic, but you underestimate the darkness within man and it's potential."
"Why were you sealed here?"
"They blamed the droughts on me, a Mist Wolf. The last of a small race of people that descended directly from Hima. Apparently as I left, so did the droughts. As I returned, so did the droughts. They came to the conclusion I was responsible."
"Why haven't you undone the seal, a sorcerer from Hima shouldn't have a problem with a barrier this weak..."
"I'm sick of this world... I'd much rather wither away in this cave, than be forsaken by the very people I try to help, their minds are warped by the traditions shoved forward by... those fickle fools..."
"The one who caused the droughts was Anor Ranad, the archbishop of Solron."
Ajal noticed movement in the darkness. The person within the cave leaned forward. The sound of a child crying had returned, he looked around once more to find the source but it disappeared as he turned his head. 'What the hell?' He glanced between the gaps in the obscure trees. 'What was-'
"What would knowing that change... I already suspected they manipulated me."
"It won't change anything, but we can," said Ajal.
"Whose we? Me and you?"
"There's more of us devoted to this cause, people from all across Imperion willing to get their hands dirty in order to make a difference, I think you'd like them to be honest."
"You seek to solve death with more death?"
"Yeah," Ajal stated confidently.
"Hm, mad men like you belong in a prison... But it's mad men like you that we need."

"Says the guy who's locked in a rock... Listen, we kill the archbishops, problem solved."
"Killing the archbishops won't be easy... that's clear if you haven't done it already on your own..."
"I have a plan, but I can't do it alone, and I need faithful followers."
"What makes you think I'm faithful?"
"I heard you were a gifted illusionist, you aren't completely faithful to the archbishops, you know Junipus much better than me, you studied directly under Gaia so in my opinion you're as powerful as an ancient, and-"
"So I'm a means to an end-"
"And... I heard you respect history."
'Dark Abyss,' the black and white wave covered the stone, dispelling the seal which locked the Mist Wolf away. Ajal pulled a bag off his shoulder and crouched down, reaching into it until he felt the smooth plate. He pulled a silver mask out of the bag and set down in front of the cave. The mask resembled the upper skull of a wolf, but slightly larger, the material was a silver ethore.
"What?! How? Where did you get that!" the man in the cave suddenly shouted, he leaned forward in shock, part of his wolf like face visible. "That's-"
"You think I came to Junipus for you? Well, I heard about you after I got here, but I know my history well. I found this along the way and knew what Rul used it for, so I thought it'd be a good peace offering."
The man in the cave reached forward with a hand clad with dark blue fur, four fingers wrapped around the top, one thumb in the eye socket. He pulled it back into the cave and put it on, then stood and walked out into the light drizzle of warm rain. Ajal stood back up to greet him properly, the man in the cave was about six feet tall. As he exited the cave he stopped hunching forward and became even taller, up to Ajal's height. His foot stepped forward on its toes, the ankle bone raised up. His body covered in a dark blue fur unique to the tribe of the Mist Wolves. He wore a grey robe around his waist, his upper body and arms we're very skinny, but his large hands also just reached past his knees with the length of his uncut nail. On his head was the silver helmet, bright yellow eyes behind it.
"You are an interesting person, where did you find one of the masks of Master Rul..." the man in the cave laughed.
"Stole it from a guy in the town..."
"You- what?! Ha- hahahah!"
"What?" Ajal snickered.
"Who had it!"
"Some smug guy who tried to rob me."
"Well, I'd prefer someone who knows its meaning to be the one to wield it... What is your name, Divine Being?"
"Don't be so formal, it's Ajal."
"I am Kadyr," the man offered his hand.
Ajal and Kadyr shook hands, and he heard the child crying once more. 'I know I heard that! Where is that coming from!' Ajal looked around, Kadyr's eyes went black.
"You lost everything Ajal, did your plan work?" Kadyr asked.
"Yeah... that's- what... What did you just say?" Ajal stepped back, he started to notice differences between what happened in his memory and what he remembered, he started to realize he was dreaming.
"Ajal, what did you think killing the archbishops would do?" Kadyr asked.
"What... I-"
Kadyr grabbed Ajal's neck. The crying reappeared once again, Ajal looked down to see a blonde haired girl with a scar, she wore the robes of the church as she cried over a mangled corpse. He felt a sense of guilt wash over him, the world started to darken. Ajal ripped Kadyr's hand off and he stumbled backwards, he still felt like he couldn't breathe. The world went dark as he started to pass out.

Ajal heard the distant crying of a child, his face was in a puddle of rising water, the water started to reach his ears. 'What!' He tried to sit up right, he felt resistance. His shirt was stuck under something, and there was something on his back. Ajal tried to pull himself upward, his shirt tore but his head collided with a hard surface. 'Ow!' He felt the bones in his back shifting as they healed, everything was dark and he felt something pinning his legs down. He put his palm against it and felt a rough concrete. He focused his spirit into his hand, 'Spirit Ignition!' The debris shattered and even more fell down to smother him. He shielded his face with his arms, and focused his spirit to his feet. Ajal jumped upwards out of the rubble and was met with a field of debris and rubble that was once Cabac.
'Un... unreal... That guy falling through the sky... did... all this?'
"Ah..." Ajal's body ached as he crouched down on a chunk of a building.
A field of rubble surrounded a circular clearing of flat pavement. 'The entire north west district... is destroyed... what about the people-' Ajal turned to the right to see some people in the distance. He focused his spirit into his foot and jumped across the debris, the pieces of buildings we're a mix of brown blue and grey. However, seeing red stains splattered against the rubble worried Ajal. Green explosions roared from various areas around the north west district.
Ajal stopped in his tracks when he witnessed them, where the crying was coming from. Children, women, men, families, all crying as they tried to save their loved ones from the debris. Many of them already dead, some with just a few limbs without any signs of life sticking out of the debris. Ajal heard a large crash, debris was being moved out of the way by something large. A red gorilla rose not to far from where Ajal woke up. The gorilla fell as it stood up, blood dyed it's red fur even darker.
Ajal ran towards the pit which was shielded from the blast. Vala stood in the center of the pit, breathing heavily, blood dripped from her head and mouth. She held her arm raised upwards towards where the people were. Andrei and Morin looked up at her with shocked expressions, the two of them we're okay. In the distance, a white horse rose from the rubble as well, it fell down as well shortly after it stood. 'She protected those two... and sent the horse to shield the people from the rubble... how much ether did it take her to summon two of those beasts...'
"Please! Mom!" A cry from the other side of a pile of rubble made Ajal's heart freeze.
Ajal turned and ran over the rubble, he saw no one, but still heard the crying. He quickly grasped the chunk of debris and focused his spirit into his arms. He shoved the rubble to the side and looked down. An arm rested in a pool of blood that seeped out from under a large chunk of debris. A child was trying to move the boulder but couldn't. The child breathed in and out frantically, Ajal watched a golden light rise from the corpse. Not knowing what else he could do, the child broke down into tears and bawled into the night sky.
"Haha!" Ajal heard a laughter in the same direction as the clearing. "Repent fools! Repent for the sins you have committed!"
Ajal's eye twitched as he stood up and looked over the rubble and saw the man from earlier.
He wore black pants with silver rings on his ankles and waist, a sleeveless open shirt which exposed his large belly and muscular chest. The man walked forward laughing with his hands raised in the air. He was bald and had small eyes, a large beard of black hair. At the same time, Ajal noticed multiple golden lights begin to rise out of the debris, the families continued to cry as their loved ones departed into the afterlife, on an evening which they felt closest.
"Retribution!" The bald man yelled. "Cry! Cry out in pain! This is what you deserve! Those who survived will be born anew knowing not to repeat the mistakes of their ancestors!"
"Huh?!" Ajal uttered with wide eyes and clenched fists.
Ajal heard a large sound behind him, the air whooshed as the queen's red ape soared through the air with a jump and landed in the clearing, Vala jumped down from the gorilla's palm.
"You- do you know what you've done!" Vala's voice seethed with rage.
Ajal ran over the rocks towards the clearing as well. Vala limped forward with blood dripping from her head. The gorilla stumbled onto all fours, unable to keep standing.
"Do you know... what you've done! Banhu Uunan!" she screamed in rage, gripping the blade with a bloodied hand. Ajal walked over the debris towards Vala, he clenched his fist as he approached.
"I know exactly what I did! And you do too! How many of my brothers died just like this! Do you know how it feels now? Queen Grehilia!" Banhu roared with a menacing grin on his face as he held a massive spinal cord with a bell at the end of it.
"You- how dare you! I'll-" Vala shouted, enraged at the deaths of thousands of her people.
She turned her head and noticed Ajal approaching, Banhu raised an eyebrow.
"You-" Vala turned to Ajal, but she lowered her weapon,
She sensed no hostility from him, but his expression said otherwise. Ajal looked at the crowd for a moment, watching the gold lights float into the sky. Hundreds of little glints floated upwards before vanishing into small particles.
"Calm down... how many people were in the district?" Ajal asked while he observed the lights.
She squinted at him in confusion.
"Thousands of lives we're just lost, how many people were in the district?" Ajal asked again.
"At least over fifty thousand people we're in the northwest district..." Vala answered.
"Many haven't died, save them, your gift will prove useful in that regard..." Ajal advised before he turned to Banhu "I'm gonna make him regret that."
"Stay out of this! I'll tear him to-"
"Please... don't let any more people die..." Ajal asked with a sad look on his face.
Vala grit her teeth, a pained expression on her face as she shut her eyes. She turned towards the crowd.
"My brother once said the same things you did..." Vala admitted. "Do you plan to spare the resistance too after that..."
Ajal didn't answer.
"I will kill him, regardless if you do it or not," Vala declared. "Regal!" The red gorilla appeared right next to her and they both started towards the rubble.
"Woah, wait a minute I have business with her-"
"I have business with you," Ajal cut Banhu off.
"Oh? I don't think we know each other," Banhu replied.
"Yeah, you don't. But by the end of this you'll never forget..." Ajal threatened.
Vala turned her head in surprise as Ajal ran forward, the blood lust dripping from Ajal's spirit could be felt. 'I remember this feeling, the unquenchable rage towards those with no regard for life...'
"Hmm? Who are you?" Banhu asked in confusion.
Ajal's third eye flashed purple and his body covered in shadows, he slipped into the shadow and descended deep into the darkness, one light in front of him led to Banhu. He focused his spirit into his fist as he ascended towards that shadow, emerging and planting his fist in Banhu's face. Ajal stepped forward, pushing his fist forward and slammed Banhu's head into the ground. Banhu looked up in shock as Ajal raised his leg above his head and focused his spirit into his heel. 'Spirit Ignition!' Ajal slammed his foot into Banhu's stomach, he coughed up blood.
"Agh!" Banhu coughed.
Banhu tried to grab Ajal, instead Ajal grabbed his hands and twisted them, pulling him forward and stomping directly on his forehead. Ajal let go and then jumped, spinning his foot around as he landed another heavy kick to the side of Banhu's stomach.
"Argh!" Banhu grunted in pain as he coughed up blood.
Banhu conjured a spine in his hand, at the end of it was the bell which caused the devastation. 'That thing has to be his gift!' Banhu swung the spine at Ajal, he focused his spirit into his left side to block the strike. However the moment before it hit, the bell tolled, releasing a mind rattling soundwave which launched Ajal. 'What the!' He soared through the air and bounced off the ground. He tried to stop himself with his hand, dragging it against the rough ground.
"Where did that force come from?!" Ajal looked up and noticed he got launched quite far.
Banhu was a short distance away, staggering as he got up.
"Ow- Who the hell are you?" Banhu asked with grit teeth as he held his stomach.
Ajal opened up his third eye and fired the purple laser at Banhu, he spun the spine he held and blocked the beam. The bald man's feet dragged against the ground as he spun the staff. Ajal stopped firing the beam, as it ricocheted towards the rubble. Banhu kept spinning the staff. He raised the bell above his head and then slammed it down in front of him, making a massive dent in the concrete, the bell tolled again. A wave of force shot forward at Ajal and hit him directly before he could even react, he was launched backwards once again. 'That power-' Ajal felt his feet leave the ground and he tumbled once again.
"Damn! What the hell is that thing... it packs a serious punch," Ajal got to his feet, he stumbled slightly as his head ached.
Ajal focused his spirit into his chest, 'Spirit Manipulation...' His spirit started to run through his veins and strengthen every part of his body even further. Banhu ran forward with a mad grin on his face, each step making large thumps in the concrete, he spun the bell around as he jumped into the air. Ajal focused his spirit into his fist. As Banhu swung down at him, he threw his fist forward and clashed with the golden bell. He didn't feel any impact, until the bell tolled. A force launched Ajal backwards once again, the sound of the bell rang through the air. 'Damn!' Ajal tried not to fall back, his feet dragged against the ground.
"Was that a third eye? You're him, aren't you? the off worlder," Banhu asked.
"Knowing who I am isn't going to change the outcome of this fight," Ajal warned.
"Well, I don't even want to fight you, but truth be told, I don't think I've ever witnessed strength comparable to yours. How do you like Grelt? Is your old planet better?"
Ajal tilted his head, "What are you getting at?"
"I hate Grelt, it's quite a shit hole I think, what's your world like?"
"Unfortunately, both are plagued by morons like yourself who have no value for people's lives."
"No value for people? Me? Hahahaha!" Banhu laughed out loud.
"What's so funny..."
"I find it amusing, the very same justice you seek to show me for killing those people, is the same justice I brought upon them."
"The children who've never known war or death? They deserved this? Are you hearing yourself?" Ajal asked, arms outstretched gesturing at the field of destruction.
"Yes, children, just like me all those years ago.... How many years has it been since the alliance took control of Dorad, which was once the capital of my people! The descendants of Jor!"
Ajal couldn't answer, but he already knew this conversation was useless. Instead he started to charge his spirit through his body.
"How many years did they reap the benefits of my people's suffering! Living spoiled lives abundant with material wealth!" Banhu shouted.
"This isn't the solution! This just keeps the cycle going!" Ajal shouted back.
"Then what?! We, be the bigger man- let go of our envy and live humble lives? No... my actions here will be remembered in history, it isn't evil, this is justice whether you like it or not! This is the only solution!"
Ajal started running forward towards him as Banhu ran forward with the bell. He held the spine with two hands and started to wind up a heavy swing, as they we're about to clash Ajal jumped forward with his third eye open. 'Dark Abyss!' the wave spread out and Banhu's weapon disappeared to his surprise, he swung his hands through the air and left himself completely open.
"Huh?!" Banhu uttered.
Ajal slammed his fist into Banhu's face, the large man stepped back slightly dizzied. Ajal swung his leg up and struck Banhu in the shoulder, then swung again in less than a second and struck him in the head. Banhu grasped Ajal's foot with both hands, and let out a roar. The large man swung Ajal, but Ajal pulled his foot down out of his grip, Banhu stumbled forward.
"Dark Assault! Dark Passage!" Ajal shouted.
Ajal's shadow stretched upwards like a liquid, spiraling into six black staffs. Banhu looked up and tried to defend himself. The edge of each staff was shrouded with a black and white aura, Banhu lowered his guard as the black rods didn't move. As he lowered his guard, Ajal pointed one fingers and one of them flew forward at a high speed and hit Banhu in the stomach. Banhu stepped back, the five remaining rods following behind him. The rod that hit Banhu disappeared, leaving a black shadow on his stomach. Ajal fired another rod at Banhu, he reconjured the spine and swung it to deflect, a black shadow appeared on the edge of the bell. 'Dark Passage!'
"What the hell is your gift supposed to be!" Banhu yelled in frustration.
As he spoke, Ajal disappeared and reappeared right in front of him. Ajal's palm was flat against Banhu's stomach.
"I don't have a gift," Ajal replied.
Before Banhu could react, Ajal punched his stomach with the same hand. Then stepped forward and punched upwards, slamming his fist into Banhu's chin and knocking him off the ground. Ajal pointed his palm at Banhu once more. This time all four rods struck him, one in the right shoulder, one for each leg, and another one to the face. Banhu was launched upwards as he held the spine, his feet dragged against the ground as he spun, winding up another swing. Ajal ran forward but slowed down before Banhu struck the air. 'It's coming...'
"Take this!" Banhu shouted as he swung the bell up at Ajal.
As the bell rang, Ajal shielded his face as the force launched him into the air. He soared straight upwards, getting a good view of the clearing, the field of debris, and the surrounding districts. Ajal looked back down to see Banhu spinning the staff around, winding up for another heavy swing. He watched carefully as the large man expertly spun the staff around his front, to the side, around his back, and eventually above his head. A twister of white smoke spun around him. Ajal descended back to the ground, picking up speed as he fell straight towards Banhu. As the large man was about to make his pivotal swing, Ajal's third eye opened and glowed a bright purple. 'Dark Passage!' Ajal disappeared.
"What-"
Ajal reappeared, grasping the bell, and with the momentum he carried while falling he swung his foot and struck Banhu in the back of the head as he flew straight past him. Banhu grunted as his eyes rolled to the back of his head. 'Dark Passage.' Ajal reappeared right next to Banhu, slamming his fist into the side of Banhu's head. 'Dark Passage.' He teleported to his right and swept him from under the leg. 'Dark Passage!' He teleported again, slamming his foot into Banhu's knee, then teleporting once more above Banhu and slamming his head into the ground with a final punch.
"Agh!" Banhu coughed up blood as Ajal stood over him.
Ajal breathed in and out heavily, Banhu rolled onto his front, grasping the areas he was struck. 'If there is no changing your mind... I have no choice... Dark Silence...' Ajal raised one finger, his entire arm turned black and shriveled up.
"How could you have no gift... the only people without a gift that could be this strong is the divine being..." Banhu uttered weakly.
"Yeah, that's right, so people on this planet do know what I am," Ajal reached for Banhu's face with his shriveled hand. "As much as I despise you... this technique disgusts me... I am truly sorry..."
"You're the-?!"
Banhu stopped talking and his eyes went wide as he noticed something above Ajal. Ajal quickly deactivated Dark Silence, his arm returned to the regular color. Instead, he conjured a black staff in his hand and swung it up, deflecting Rolo's surprise attack from above. He kissed his teeth in frustration as he landed a short distance away.
"What do you think you're doing..." Rolo asked with a vicious glare.
The clan leader's shirt was torn off, his body stained with blood and bruises. His dense hair slightly covered his eyes filled with anger.
"I know you want him dead-"
"Then move!" Rolo spoke over Ajal.
"No," Ajal declined.
"Who the hell do you think you are!" Rolo yelled.
Ajal squinted, he gripped the handle of his scythe as he prepared for this fight to resume. 'What is the best option here? I need to find the others and get out of Andurill... But that'd be allowing this brawl to happen... Are the others even alive?'
"Well?! I don't care if you're a divine being, know your damn place! And get out of my way!" Rolo hissed.
"I can't let this cycle of violence continue. It ends ton-"
Banhu lifted his hand straight up while his back was on the ground. 'Huh!' To Ajal's surprise, he conjured the spine in his hand and it formed, sticking straight upwards with the bell at the peak of its height.
"Tsk!" Rolo jumped back.
Ajal jumped back as Banhu pulled the bell down, striking the ground and launching himself away from Rolo and Ajal. 'I underestimated him! He's crafty with that weapon!' Ajal's feet dragged against the ground. Banhu stood up, he stood between Rolo and Ajal.
"I hate to agree with the midget, but you have no right stepping into this battle. It's noble that you want to end this so-called cycle, but we're too far gone on either side. This isn't your place, but you're strong, so I don't mind you being here," Banhu spoke as he rose to his feet.
"How dare you kill this many of my people!" Rolo roared, completely absorbed with rage.
"Nice, you finally know what that feels like," Banhu chuckled with a grin which lacked remorse.
"You son of a-"
"Maybe I should weld their hands to metal bars so they can do nothing but push around what I want them to!" Banhu roared back.
Rolo grit his teeth and charged forward. 'Weld their hands to metal bars?' Ajal cringed at just the sound of that. Banhu ran at Rolo spinning his weapon. Rolo jumped as Banhu switched to an underhand grip.
"Shura's Array! Fourth Form!" Rolo grunted.
"Roku's Array! Second Form!" Banhu grinned.
"Prism Slash!"
"Hell's Gambit!"
Rolo leapt into the air, flipping once before he swung his greatsword downwards. The bell dragged through the ground as Banhu swung it upwards. A large wave of concrete and dust flew at Rolo. He shielded his eyes as Banhu continued to swing the bell upwards, it tolled directly in front of Rolo. Ajal watched the small clan leader get launched straight upwards. The great sword dropped next to Banhu, however it started to rattle, then was pulled out of the ground by a strange force and flew towards Ajal. 'Wha-' Ajal stopped as he heard footsteps behind him.
The clan leader from Baltin ran forward past Ajal as he pulled his helmet on his head, the antlers on the helmet and his overall size made him look monstrous. His face was obscured by the gaps in the helmet. He raised his hand towards Rolo's sword, as he drew his battle axe with the other hand. The black ethore he proudly wore was riddled with streaks of dust and dirt, the chest piece still dented from his clash with Ajal.
"Shura's Array! First Form!" Oberon shouted.
"The son of Jestaul?! I've been looking for you!" Banhu yelled excitedly as he raised the spine over his head.
Oberon grit his teeth as he started to charge faster, Ajal noticed his spirit collect at his legs, 'He got angrier... but his spirit refined itself... I don't know if that guy is aware of himself using spirit arts, but he's definitely experienced in battle...' Banhu looked up and spun the Bell even faster. 'Getting between them might be fatal...' Ajal thought as he continued to focus his spirit a good distance away from the fight, 'The only way to get them to stop might be a Spirit Bloom... But... This is far past the point of no return right now... There is no civil option anymore...'
The sound of electricity crackling reached Ajal's ears. 'Above...' Ajal looked up and noticed a white horse in the sky, a trail of green electricity followed it. 'What the- is that horse flying?! Without wings? What are- Are those shoes?!' The green electricity separated from the horse and Ajal watched a person descend over the clearing.
Oberon caught the greatsword and raised it high as he jumped and slashed both weapons at Banhu. Banhu stopped in a strange stance in the midst of a wide swing of the bell, he held himself on one leg while swinging the spine back upwards. The ball of green electricity and moved in a zigzagging pattern behind him. 'Her... She was at Logos...' The ball of electricity took the form of a woman with her fist ready to strike.
"Thunderclap Smash!" Avery and Oberon both shouted as they aimed for Banhu's bald head.
"Jor's!" Banhu leapt off of his one foot he used to pivot and dodged the two of them, spinning around as the bell flipped around his back spun in the opposite direction it had been spinning in prior. Ajal listened to an almost satisfying click of each vertebrae on the spine 'He- straightened it perfectly!' The bell tolled as Banhu slowed down and swung it away from them. Ajal watched the mans spirit flow from his chest to the end of the bell. 'He just-' A spirit ignition from Banhu knocked the bell straight towards the two. "Wild ride!" Banhu screamed as he the bell swung directly over him and slammed into the ground. He held it with a long grip and started to shake the bell up and down. The bell tolled repeatedly, a torrent of shock waves blasted everything in front of Banhu away.
Oberon quickly got in front of Avery and shielded her. The bell began to toll rapidly, sending multiple extremely powerful shockwaves directly at them. Oberon despite wearing heavy armor and being at least over three hundred pounds, was pushed back by the first few shockwaves, until his feet left the ground and he was sent flying tumbling towards the rubble. Ajal covered his ears, the amount of noise coming from that bell was mind numbing. In a matter of a seconds after dodging, Banhu managed to blast away two clan leaders.
The bell's tolls became weaker, and the sound of Banhu laughing maniacally overtook it. 'This guy is insane!' Ajal jumped held his ears and focused his spirit to his feet as a wave of force pushed against him. The three clan leaders had all been blown away, Banhu was still unscathed by any of them. 'This guy is a resistance member i'm guessing... definitely a big shot considering how strong he is... No, he is strong... but he is skilled, extremely skilled.'
Oberon hit the ground once more and released Avery, she rolled against the ground before bringing herself to a stop with her left hand. Her foot dragged against the ground as she threw the red sash off and charged forward against the momentum. She jumped and stopped in mid air as a green thunderbolt fell from the clouds and into her hand. 'Thats new...' The green electricity crackled around her, the bolt in her hand took a jagged shape. The dark sky was lit green, 'Her attack in Logos did a ton of damage... that looks way worse!' As she fell she spun the lightning bolt, hitting the ground with her right arm hoisting it over her shoulder.
"Goku's Lightning! Avery!" Banhu chuckled as his weapon disappeared.
"Roaring Javelin!" Avery shouted as threw it straight at Banhu.
The green bolt soared through the sky in a flash, Banhu could only jump backwards as the lightning fast attack struck the ground and engulfed him in an green explosion. Ajal shielded his eyes as the light stung his eyes, his feet even dragged backwards as the explosion sent a shockwave of force outwards. Banhu was launched this time, and sent to the other end of the clearing.
'Sure he got the surprise attack, but this is a suicide mission for him... He's up against all the clan leaders on his own, and the queen... He couldn't have just attacked without a plan...'
The white horse from earlier trotted in the sky with it's greaves, it made laps around the cloud of smoke in the center, dodging the dust and debris knocked up by the explosion. Tiny grains of vaporized concrete showered over the battlefield. The sound of rubble lifting caused Ajal to look away. There were multiple large chunks of rubble floating above the rest of the debris. 'That's right... descendants of Ophi can lighten the rubble... Huh?'
Ajal noticed someone running over the elevated debris. He squinted in disbelief as he saw a figure quickly running towards the clearing where they fought. The figure crouched down and Ajal noticed them focus their spirit to their legs. 'Huh- Another spirit arts user? More resistance? They're going to jump-' Ajal looked up at the horse, 'Impossible... It's too far to reach, even with a spirit ignition...'
To Ajal's surprise the figure jumped off the chunk of debris with powerful speed, soaring straight towards the horse. 'What?!' A slice followed by the horses frightened and pained whinny echoed through the air. It's long white leg fell as the figure soared into the smoke, a person fell from the top of the horse.
"Shit..." Ajal focused his spirit and ran forward.
The horse disappeared, 'A gift? Spirit Ignition!' Ajal jumped up and caught the woman falling, however he immediately groaned upon realizing who it was. 'Not her...'
"Not you!" Carala shouted and struggled in his arms.
She threw a weak punch at him which didn't do much at all, Ajal cringed. She looked frightened upon seeing at Ajal's expression and put her hand down, knowing it was pointless. Her black and gold dress we're covered in dirt, she had a bruise on her shoulder and cheek and her hair was ruined. One of the lenses on her glasses had been cracked.
"I just saved you... Piece of shit..." Ajal uttered with grit teeth as he landed on one knee.
"I didn't ask!" Carala bickered.
Ajal dropped her and looked towards the smoke where the figure landed.
"Ow! Why'd you drop me!?" Carala complained.
"Pretty sure a lot of people want to drop you, maybe from a bit higher as well," a woman's demeaning voice came from the smoke.
Ajal turned to the figure walking out of the smoke and conjured a scythe. She had a sinister grin and two black horns on the sides of her head, black hair tied back in a wild bun. She wore similar pants to Banhu, but a white jacket that drooped down to her knees, buttoned up to her neck. She held a strange single edged short sword that seemed to have a unique design. Her horns lit up red and emitted a steam. 'It wouldn't be possible to jump that high without spirit arts... but even with spirit arts she jumped far...'
"Who are you supposed to be?" the woman grinned, lunging forward with her sword before Ajal could even answer.
The two clashed, Ajal noticed it again, she focused her spirit, but there was something else. Ajal pushed his scythe forward, to his surprise she managed to hold him back, the red horns glowed even brighter. She squinted as she stepped forward and tried to push Ajal back.
"Iris! How dare you do that to my vanguard!" Carala cursed from behind Ajal.
Ajal held his ground, 'Are the horns making her stronger?' Ajal focused his own spirit and swung her off, she just barely evaded the scythes blade. Her feet dragged against the dirt as she glared at Ajal. 'What's the best course of action right now?' The woman squinted at Ajal from head to toe as she rested her strangely shaped blade on her shoulder. She leaned forward and put a thumb to her chin as she continued to analyze Ajal.
"You didn't answer my question, what's a weirdly strong and attractive guy like you doing here?" Iris complimented.
Ajal didn't reply, his third eye opened instead. 'Dark Assault.' The shadow around Ajal formed into six scythes and started to spin. The woman's eyes raised, unsure of what Ajal would do. 'This is a mess...' Ajal pointed at her, a scythe flew forward and she jumped over it. 'I need to find Reinhardt, George and Adam...' Ajal pointed two more fingers and two more scythes flew towards her. She dodged between the two of them and the last one spun towards he and she blocked it. 'This has gotten far too out of hand... I failed to stop anything...' Ajal was about to send the next scythe forward.
A white flash brightened the area with a blinding light. 'What- Light?!' Ajal's scythes vanished as all the darkness in the area was purged, his spirit arts was only ability that didn't deactivate. A loud clash of steel echoed through the air, as the blinding light faded.
"Who was that!" Carala asked with a worried tone.
Someone with a sword had clashed with Iris. Ajal recognized the formal black pants and shoes, the glossy blue dress shirt, but they wore a cowl now. 'An angel?' The silver cowl drooped over her body. She held a strange sword as well, a claymore and had short icy blonde hair that reached down to her neck.
"Iris... You seem to be doing well," the mysterious newcomer spoke.
"You... Angela Rover," Iris groaned, she seemed more eager to fight Ajal as she stepped back from the noble.
"You don't sound happy to see me!" Angela stepped forward.
Iris stepped back and then to the left, Angela jumped upwards and made a wide swing down. Iris blocked the strike but was locked into another clash again. Ajal noticed that Angela had been wearing a mask, it was white with three slashes going through it, one of her eyes could be seen behind the middle slash. It was very similar to that of the insignia. 'What the... that mask...' He sensed a spirit within the mask, separate from the spirit of Angela. 'Is it similar to... no, that can't be... could it?'
"You're a bit higher on the hate list, so yeah," Iris returned a sinister grin.
"Haha, still upset about those years in prison? Zeus!" Angela suddenly called.
"The strong one is mine!" A voice from Ajal's shouted a loud, excited response.
Ajal turned to see a boy with a strange aura, 'That's... another Ethereal? And he's also a kid... Just like the one from Logos...' He had narrow vicious eyes like a beast, and sharp teeth making a wicked grin, a pointy nose. His white shirt had the blue insignia of a mask with three slashes, and around his neck was a strange white cape, it seemed to be moving on its own. Ajal opened his third eye as Zeus ran forward, he raised his foot and tried to kick him back. However, he ducked and rolled under Ajal's leg to evade. Before he could turn, the cape flowing behind Zeus suddenly wrapped around Ajal's leg. 'What the-' Ajal was pulled right around, he spun on the other foot. Zeus turned around and part of the cape wrapped around his arm and formed into a curved blade, he raised it in preparation to try and cut off Ajal's leg.
'Dark Abyss!'
As he swung the blade down it disappeared, the cape vanished as well. Ajal planted his foot on the ground, stepping forward with his fist raised. The short black haired boy looked up with shocked eyes as he realized their positions had been reversed in a matter of seconds.
"Huh-"
Ajal held back as he slammed a spirit charged fist into the boy's chest, he tried to block before the first connected. The punch slammed him into the ground hard enough to ricochet back up a few inches. 'He blocked that in time? His instinct is good.' The back of his head hit the ground and his expression was shocked and in disbelief. He grasped his arms as he groaned in pain. Ajal heard rapid footsteps to the left, the woman in the silver cowl approached with a look of concern for her subordinate. She got ready to swing and slashed her claymore at Ajal. Ajal watched her moves carefully, she swung at Ajal's legs and arms. He dodged to the left
'The sword didn't disappear... but the cowl and the mask did. Those are her gifts, the sword is a regular sword.' Angela had bright yellow eyes and big lips, her bangs we're longer on the right side of her face she swiped again and Ajal dodged once more. She dashed forward and tried to stab, 'Spirit Ignition!' Ajal raised his foot and stepped down on the middle of the sword. 'This sword didn't break from my kick... an ethore maybe...'
"You-"
Ajal pivoted on the blade and swung his other foot at Angela, delivering a kick to her face with the back of his foot. She grit her teeth to bear the pain, gripped the sword and swung up. Ajal jumped back and she jumped backwards to the boy on the ground. Angela breathed in and out, the nobles eyes locked with that of the divine beings.
"Zeus... you idiot, I told you this guy beat Alexander even while he went all out... be careful!" Angela warned.
"I almost got his leg!" Zeus replied weakly as he struggled to get up.
"Well you didn't... and he just anticipated both of our attacks even though this is the first time we've clashed... Heh... the reports weren't kidding... he's a monster."
"Where did my gift go?! It just vanished before I could get him..." Zeus complained.
"He can deactivate gifts... Mine's we're deactivated too. My head is kind of fuzzy after that kick..."
Ajal glanced at Iris, she still had the sword but her horns we're no longer glowing red.
"What the hell are you? First you make weapons out of shadow and now you cancel celestial gifts?" Iris asked. "You're pretty damn cool, I like you. Dig the get up as well."
Ajal tilted his head 'At least someone does...'
"Zeus! Get Carala out of here!" Angela ordered.
"Go! Yycan!" Zeus's cape flew off him and turned into a large wolf on all fours.
The creature ran towards Carala who was a short distance behind. She stood as the wolf approached, she looked at Ajal.
"Did you bring those non-unified? The big one with the red hair and the other two?"
"Huh-" Ajal turned to her. "Where are they? Are they okay?!" Ajal walked towards her with a concerned expression.
"They're fine... Everyone in the center of the city was saved by the queen and the members of the royal guard. They are helping civilians who weren't so lucky... I won't lie, I wanted to arrest them," Carala admitted as she got on the back of Yycan, Ajal squinted. "Shina stopped me...Thank her if you see her again..." she said as the wolf ran off with her.
"I see, that's good..." Ajal took a deep breath.
'I still need to figure out what happened to Jack's group... Please be okay, all of you...'
Angela ran forward, she reached for her face as she lowered the claymore with one hand. Ajal conjured a scythe as she approached. She pulled the mask on, and a blinding flash lit the area once more. Ajal's scythe disappeared. 'Dammit! That's going to be a problem! '
"So that's your weakness! Light!" Angela jumped with the sword raised.
Ajal dodged backwards as the blade slammed into the ground, and wisps of bright green electricity bounced off it. 'It is an ethore... Seems like that blinding flash only appears when she puts the mask on...' Zeus ran forward, 'Huh... he doesn't even have his gift right-' A white flowing substance stretched towards him and covered his arm, creating one large blade. Angela jumped upwards and seemed to vanish. 'What! Shit- angels have very different fighting styles!' Ajal ducked to dodge Zeus's horizontal swing. As he stood he look up to find Angela, but a searing pain sliced through the black shirt he wore and into his back.
"Urgh!" Ajal stepped back as he winced, he felt jolts of electricity from the wound.
Ajal glanced behind himself as Angela's camouflage faded and she came back into view, flipping her grip on her claymore to swing it up and slash once more. Zeus ran forward at Ajal to flank him. Ajal opened his third eye as he jumped, ready to blast the both of them.
"Noble of house Rover, cease your attack!" Vala ordered.
Zeus and Angela both turned their heads to the rubble in the direction of the civilians. Ajal looked over as well. The queen entered the clearing, a look of determination on her face.
"This off worlder will assist us, we shall annihilate these swines who dare desecrate this sacred city," Vala declared.
"Huh!?" Ajal tilted his head.
"Huh? Thats the off worlder?!" said Iris, she seemed to have been observing how Ajal fought.
"The hell do you mean I'm going to join you? You're part of the damn problem on this planet!" Ajal shouted back as he landed.
"So you'd dare to defy me," Vala squinted.
"Defy you?! Who the hell do you think you are!"
"Who- Who do I think I am!" Vala scowled.
"Wahahaha!" Banhu laughed out loud. "This is exactly what this planet needed, true judgement from beyond the sky. Perfect for the hypocrisy of this alliance of fools!" Banhu mocked.
"Hey, I'm not done with you, you need a thorough ass kicking for what you did to this city and you aren't sleeping tonight without getting it!" Ajal threatened.
"Hehe... haha!" Banhu chuckled out loud. "Then you better stop me, because after we're done killing all of the hybrids in this wretched city, the next is the angels!"
Iris ran at Ajal with her blade raised.
"Roku's Array! Fifth Form!" Iris chanted menacingly, she dashed in front of Ajal and took a stance with her blade pulled back with both hands.
"Roku?" Ajal jumped backwards.
"Beasts Bane!" Iris roared and lunged the blade forward.
Ajal conjured two small scythe and blocked her strike, she leaned forward and managed to push Ajal back. 'What the hell... it's like I'm pushing against a wall... why is her strike so heavy...' Iris started running forward. Ajal focused his spirit to his heart as he breathed in. 'Spirit Manipulation!'
"Roku's Array! Fourth Form! Wild Frenzy!" Iris roared as she swung her blade wildly at Ajal.
Ajal spun the scythes in his hand, blocked the first slash, she swung the sword up to slash again and Ajal jumped backwards, pushed off the ground with his hands and pushed himself further away. She jumped upwards to strike once more.
"Shura's Array! Fourth Form!" Ajal heard the queen approach.
Vala ran forward and conjured the wide straight sword, two lines appeared running down her face across her eyes.
"Prism Slash!" Vala shouted.
A blue flame flashed in front of Iris and clashed with her, then flashed again and blinked behind her slashing down Iris's back. Iris turned and slashed behind her, Vala vanished once more. Iris quickly moved her blade above her head and defended the third slash. 'She was aiming for her throat, and managed to predict where the last slash would be! Her gift isn't just physical enhancement, she can predict attacks very well without spirit sense...' Vala pushed her back and Iris turned in mid air.
"Elrin!"
The giant ram with brown fur and really long legs fitted with steel hooves appeared above the queen. It's step rumbled the ground. A shockwave of force popped Ajal's ears, leaving a ringing vibration behind. 'Gah- That things step hurts that close and it's not even a direct hit!' Banhu jumped up to strike it with the bell, however a force dragged the bell backwards. Down below Oberon raised his palm at the bell, pulling it back and stopping Banhu's strike.
"Oberon! Damn you!" Banhu cursed.
"Shura's Array! Sixth Form!" Vala roared as she jumped up to Elrin's stomach and kicked off it as Elrin vanished, leaping at Banhu. "Grelt's Steel!"
The bald man raised his arms as the queen was about to slash her with the short sword. Iris stumbled slightly and spun around, and crouched. She breathed in and focused her spirit, she used a spirit ignition and launched herself towards the queen to intercept her.
"Roku's Array! Sixth Form," Iris suddenly lowered her blade and shouted, "Grelt's Rain!"
She jumped up and clashed swords with Vala, their two blades cutting against each other as the force from their strikes caused a loud clash followed by a shockwave which pushed the cloud of dust itself. Oberon ran forward towards where Banhu would fall with his axe raised high, he swung down at Banhu swung the steel cuff on his leg at the axe and kicked it out of Oberon's hand. The axe slammed into the ground, Oberon grabbed Banhu's leg and threw him into the ground. Banhu tried to get up, as Oberon stomped on his back. Banhu shielded himself as he got up, but felt a left jab to his face, before being pulled back by Oberon's gift for another jab. However Banhu raised his foot and slammed it into Oberon's stomach.
"Son of Jestaul!" Banhu shouted with a wide, bloody grin.
"Don't you dare say his name!" Oberon demanded, yelling out a bellow of rage at that last part.
Oberon reached for the axe, but Banhu stepped in front and conjured the spine with a bell at the end of it. He grasped the bell with a close handed grip and started swinging it at Oberon. Smashing the giant bell through the horns in his helmet and breaking a quarter of it off. Multiple small shards scattered across the ground. Banhu swung the bell upwards and knocked Oberon in the chest with the bell.
"Rgh! Raa!" Oberon stumbled, but held his ground and roared as he clenched his fist.
Blood leaked from his head, he stepped forward and punched Banhu in the face, Banhu stumbled to the left, Oberon stepped forward and continued to clobber him. Banhu raised his fist in the air and slammed it into Oberon's dented chest piece. Oberon wasn't phased as he pulled his head back up with his fist ready and punched Banhu with an uppercut. However Banhu had spun right around and switched to a long grip on the weapon, the bell dragged through the ground as he swung it up and launched Oberon away. Banhu stepped back to catch his breath.
Ajal jumped upwards and caught Oberon from being launched too far, he looked at the multiple fights and different fighters trying to join. 'This is turning into a battle royale, there's a lot happen-' The sound of electricity crackling wildly and approaching fast alerted Ajal.
"Zetsu! Shura's Array! Fifth Form!" The queen conjured her jagged black sword in mid air.
Vala swung the blade and it extended with several wires between each part of the sword, the whole whip engulfed with flames. Avery jumped up and spun trying to land a punch to Iris's other side. Ajal landed and ran past Oberon, he focused his spirit to his feet immediately. 'Spirit Ignition!' Ajal jumped upward at a great speed and caught Avery's fist. The electricity crackled, through his arm, tearing his sleeve.
"Beast Tamer!" Vala grunted as she clashed with Iris.
A wave of flame burned the resistance commander as she blocked the jagged blade. 'Heart of Darkness!' Ajal reached upwards with a hand clad in a black aura, he used it to absorb the flame with one hand and the lightning with the other.
"This again!" Avery panicked!
Ajal's hands we're burning on one side, electrocuted on the other. 'Mold the lightning! And the fire! Into gauntlets, gauntlets to beat some sense into that guy!' Ajal's hands we're covered in black lightning, his sleeves burned off as he landed. He d dragged the orange flames with his hand clad in shadow and pulled a dark flame out of it. The rest of the flames followed towards Ajal's hand until and spiraled into a black flame. The inside of it a pure white. He stuck both hands in the flame and suppressed it within the lightning. 'This lighting has almost physical properties to it, but delivers explosive damage...' Ajal looked up at Banhu with a hateful glare.
"Damn... was that black magic?" Iris commented as she observed the tainted flames that we're pulled off her.
"You continue to get in my way," Vala uttered angrily.
"Banhu!" Ajal roared as he dashed forward.
Banhu conjured his weapon above his head and stepped back, still slightly exhausted. As Ajal approached Banhu swung the weapon down. Ajal slipped into the shadow as the bell hit the ground. As it bounced back up Ajal dashed above him and slammed both his hands together into his head. A burst of black flames and electricity added to the impact. Banhu was groggy, but he looked up and tried to swing back. 'You have tenacity... But i'm not holding back against you!' Ajal blocked the strike by striking his wrist, the flame and lightning damaging him heavily. Banhu grunting in pain as he was burned and electrocuted after each punch Ajal started delivering. Ajal silent all the while, a look of scorn on his face as he continues to slam his fists into Banhu. Banhu fell back after ten punches to the face. Ajal stood over him.
"Prepare to suffer for what you've done."
"Ba- Banhu..." Iris uttered, hesitation in her voice.
"I thought he... wasn't trying to kill..." Avery muttered.
Banhu grasped his stomach, he looked up as another fist came down and smashed into his chest. 'Spirit Ignition!' Banhu cried out in pain, the clothes on his upper body burned off as Ajal grasped his throat and pulled him up. The clan leaders just stood by and watched with expressions of disbelief. Iris tried to run forward but shielded her face from the heat and electricity spreading across the battlefield. Ajal walked forward, his shirt flapping loosely off his shoulders as he lifted the resistance commander by the throat.
"Banhu!" Iris called out.
"St-stop," Banhu weakly uttered.
"Stop?" Ajal grit his teeth and slammed his fist into his stomach. "Stop!?"
Ajal kicked Banhu in the chin and launched him up, and then jumped as well. 'Dark Passage!' Ajal clad his fists in a black and white aura as well. 'Spirit Ignition!' He slammed his fist into Banhu and ignited his spirit, launching him into the ground and ricocheting upwards 'Triple Ignition! ' Ajal focused his spirit to his feet and dashed past Banhu as he bounced upwards. He swung his foot and kicked him back into this air, crouched down and leapt back up within half a second and slammed his fist behind him and launched him even higher.
"Gah!" Banhu uttered with his last breath.
"Someone! Who can't remorse for the hundreds they killed! Doesn't deserve mercy!" Ajal roared while beating Banhu ruthlessly.
'Dark Passage!' Ajal appeared below Banhu and punched him even further up. 'Dark Passage!' Ajal activated once more and appeared above Banhu.
"Imperial Battle Arts! Drill!" Ajal began punching Banhu repeatedly as they descended.
He delivered a spirit ignition and drove Banhu straight down into the concrete. The resistance commander raised his hand weakly, however Ajal slammed his fist into him once more into the air. Banhu soared up once more, barely even conscious anymore, the wrath of Ajal's assault left him bruised, burned and broken. Ajal jumped up, and delivered another punch to his stomach. Pulling his fist out of his stomach and raising both in the air, slamming both his hands into him. Releasing another explosion of ether in the form of flame and thunder at the resistance commander.
"Agh!" Banhu cried out in pain.
Ajal breathed in and out, his fist shaking as he stood above Banhu. 'What a disgusting feeling...' The flames and lightning dissipated. Each clan leader stood in shock, Iris had trouble processing what she just witnessed. Banhu groaned weakly
"You're still conscious, good," Ajal crouched down and put the tip of his finger against Banhu's forehead, 'Dark Silence.'
Ajal's hand turned black and shriveled. Banhu's eyes which were barely open, opened fully. His pupils dilated and started to vibrate. Ajal stood and his hand changed back to normal.
"Now repent, face your sins and the reality of your actions, scum!" Ajal spat.
"What- What'd you do..." Iris asked, a look of genuine shock on her face.
"It's a technique I don't like using, Dark Silence, it sends the victim into a near an illusory world which operates with the sole purpose to show him the consequences of the life he's lived. He'll be in that state for a few minutes," Ajal turned to Iris.
Banhu began to scream and cry, grasping his head as the visions tortured every part of his mind and being. His conscious was being exposed to the sins he had committed across his entir
"What the hell..." Iris uttered, "What the hell are you."
"I am the divine being of Imperion," Ajal said as he opened his third eye.
The moment he did, he sensed someone coming. He turned while conjuring a scythe and threw it at Rolo who approached with light steps in an attempt to kill Banhu.
"Dammit!" Rolo grunted as his was pushed backwards. "Vala! We need to send reinforcements to Dorad!" Rolo roared.
"Rolo?" Vala turned.
'Dorad?'
"When I was launched earlier! I saw smoke rising in the east! Dorad is under attack! It was a two pronged attack!" Rolo shouted.
All of the clan leaders who we're already in a state of shock, we're even further dumbfounded. Vala's eye twitched slightly.
"Geral Murdok!" Vala grit her teeth in a sudden rage. "Iris! Explain what's going-"
"Vala!" Oberon and Avery cried out with extreme concern in their tone.
Iris grinned as a flaming slash flew through the air and hit the queen in the back, the queen grunted in pain as she fell to her knees. 'What the hell!' Ajal looked to the south west, and saw a man with two flaming red swords and a mohawk standing on the rubble with a smug grin on his face. While he had a belt and strange red fur on his shoulder, his pants we're the same as Iris and Banhu's. A marching sound behind him, uneven steps through the jagged rubble, rapid and approaching fast.
"Greetings fools, fools! And the fools i'm friends with!" the man cheered. "What a wonderful festival this is! It'd look a lot better if we took this damn city for ourselves!"
"That's what's going on you bitch, you we're never winning this from the get go," Iris giggled with a smug grin, "I knew Geral wouldn't fail us," she cooed quietly.
'What? What did she mean by that?'
"Impossible! Blaize Eluk, you bastard! You opened the gate!" Vala cursed as she held her shoulder.
"Haha! That's a face I want to wake up to everyday, it's time for the hybrid alliance to fall! Descendants of Tyra! Light your blades! Tonight! We are justice!" Blaize roared, the army howled as the rumbling of marching feet became loud. Each of their swords were cloaked in flame.
'You've got to be kidding me...' Ajal watched an army of soldier with swords and red fur somewhere on their upper bodies charge onto the battlefield. Ajal let out a sigh. He conjured two scythes and ran forward. 'More of them...' He dived through the shadow and then emerged out of Avery's and charged at the army. 'Dark Assault!' Ajal through the two spears spinning, then conjured six more in front of him, and sent them spinning at the army. Cutting through waves of soldiers as Ajal ran forward focusing his spirit.
"Ugh..." Ajal groaned as he walked forward towards the army while he shook his head.
"Who the hell is that! What'd he just do!" The man who slashed the queen roared.
"Blaize this guys dangerous! And crazy! Be careful men!" Iris ordered as loud as she could. "He defeated Banhu!"
Blaize's expression turned to shock, he looked through the battle field and saw Banhu writhing on the ground.
"No way..." Blaize uttered.
As Ajal was about to clash with the army a wall of light appeared in front of him.
"What the hell..." Ajal muttered as he looked around quickly, discovering he had been surrounded by a wall of light on all sides.
"Light Magic: Solid Light Cage!" a stern voice spoke from above.
"Light... Magic?" Ajal repeated.
Everyone looked to where the voice came from. A man with black hair and a blue robe walked forward between the two sets of combatants. 'Another angel?' He wore a white shirt with the golden insignia of a sword on it, the guard of the sword had a single eye on it. The robe he wore was quite large although he himself looked thin, 'A mage? He might be concealing things in that robe too... he didn't cast this with spirit arts... he did this some other way...' There was a platoon of angels wearing glossy white armors and glowing green chest pieces.
"Shock Troopers? Here?" Angela asked in a confused tone.
"Arid Lightbringer?!" said Vala. "Where have you been this whole time?!"
"Arid! He's dangerous, hit him with everything!" Avery shouted.
"Arid?" Ajal recognized the name, 'That's that noble Jack mentioned... the noble of house Lightbringer...'
The man walked forward with a calm expression, it was almost like he didn't care about the various battles happening around him. The platoon of angels surrounded the cage of light.
"All angels! Stand guard!" Arid ordered.
"What?" Rolo uttered in shock.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Angela asked, confused as well.
'Why is the other angel confused?'
"Angela, Zeus, cease your attack. As for the hybrids, I have no part in your business," Arid Lightbringer caught the eyes of each fighter.
"No... part?!" Vala tilted her head. "What do you mean?"
Arid walked forward towards the cage of light that encaged Ajal, ignoring the queen, and adding further frustration to her expression. Ajal put his palm to the wall of light, he slammed his palm against it to get a sense of it's strength. Arid Lightbringer walked in front of him on the other side of the wall.
"Can I call you Ajal, divine being?" Arid asked.
Ajal squinted at him, 'What's this about...'
"Sure," Ajal replied.
"What do you seek? Your home? No... You assisted the non-unified, you seek safety for them too don't you?" Arid asked another question.
"You asked a question and then assumed my answer and asked another question..."
"Well, am I right?"
Ajal squinted, "Partially. In truth I did want to go back initially, but not anymore. I can do good for the non-unified people by correcting this world's problems at the roots of its issues and I'm going to do that right here."
"There is a continent in the north known as Pandora, inhabited by demons, creatures with immense power and access to spirit arts techniques of Aka."
Ajal tilted his head, "I'm surprised you know about Aka... Most people just tell me about the demons but... You know more, don't you?"
"You're good at reading people," Arid complimented with a dry expression, his expression had been lifeless the whole time. "Help us take the continent from the demons, and we will no longer have a need for the non-unified, they will be free."
Ajal observed the man, 'Is he lying... Trying to use me? This barrier is pretty strong... it gives me a lot of time to charge my spirit though...'
"Help the clan leaders!", "You damn resistance members!" various hybrids who had been caught in Banhu's attack we're entering the battlefield.
'Shit... the civilians want to fight too now... Huh?' Ajal noticed Reinhardt standing on top of the rubble, he was looking straight at Ajal.
"You seek to end this worlds conflict, so do we. The resources we require to survive are provided by the non-unified, we the angels provide the technology and infrastructure as well as the faith of the celestial-"
"Shut up," said Ajal .
"Hm?" Arid tilted his head.
"Do you think i'm stupid?"
"I don't understand what you mean?"
Ajal reached forward and touched the wall of light, it felt like a block that was fixed into place and could never move from it's position 'Perfect...'
"You cannot escape this barrier-"
'Heart of Darkness...' Arid's eyebrows raised in shock as the golden wall of light became black and glowed a white light from within.
"How many times are people gonna use magic against me before they understand I counter it completely..." Ajal sighed.
"You- you took my magic?" Arid uttered as he stepped back.
"Yeah, and I'm gonna use it to end this," Ajal threatened them all.
"Damn Angels! You fools, destroy the barrier!" Vala ordered.
A bright flash of light appeared from Angela as she put her mask on, however the barrier didn't vanish.
"My technique doesn't convert elements into darkness, it pulls the darkness out of them. Light and Dark magic, just like Life and Death magic have properties which blend with the basic elements. You're little flash bang won't destroy this barrier."
"You- You're aware of the properties of magic?!" Angela uttered in disbelief.
"Of course I am..."
Arid grit his teeth as he stepped back and pulled out a staff with a white crystal ball at the end of it. 'I don't recall seeing him in the same room as the elders earlier... where was he?'
"If you want the non-unified to live good-"
"You want me to join you, no there's more to this than just the non-unified? Tell me why the demons are so vilified despite apparently secluding themselves away from all of you? Which is probably the right thing to do," Ajal chuckled.
"The-"
"I'm not finished yet... Tell me the so called crimes the non-unified committed. Tell me why spirit arts is unknown despite you knowing about Aka and where it comes from. Why do you even know about Aka? How much information are you hiding, Lightbringer?" Ajal asked with a condescending tone.
Arid didn't reply.
"And the most important question... Why does that celestial only serve you?! The celestials from my planet, all six of them did not possess a will. Yet the hybrids have never encountered a celestial beast in years? And generational gifts? That lie won't work on me, I understand the balance of power far more than the rest of you. The divine beings, the celestial, the harbingers, and the ethereals, the abyss and Aka are the foundation of the world."
Ajal focused his spirit into every part of his body, using spirit manipulation all across his body at once. He turned back to Arid who didn't seem phased about the approaching army.
"You people think I'm just gonna pick a side and join you, as if your causes are right. But I've seen what your causes bring. Suffering, a cycle of hatred, destruction. On top of that you try to push this world towards what you want whilst controlling what they all know and don't know, right?" Ajal gestured with his hands in the air.
"And you think you're better?" Arid spoke back. "You're nothing but a weapon. That's all the divine beings are."
"Weapon..." Ajal uttered with grit teeth as he squinted. "You people think you can use me, that's your biggest mistake... none of you truly understand your place!"
His third eye opened and intent to kill flooded the area, everyone stepped back in shock as they were overwhelmed by a sense of death. Ajal ignited his spirit up his spine all at once, the ground started to rumble.
"I am a weapon, I won't deny it, I understand what the purpose for the divine being creation was. I am no better than you," Ajal admitted as his hair started to rise.
Ajal's blood chilling intent filled the area, despite some of them knowing he wouldn't kill nor wanted to, many on the clan leaders on the battlefield still shook uncontrollably. The civilians and the soldiers from Argol all froze and looked to the cage of black light. His clothing began flapping wildly, his hair rose upwards. The third eye began to glow bright, a purple plasma emanated out of it. His spirit pulsed at each point in his spine all the way up his body. His hands clasped together.
"Spirit Bloom..." he uttered. "Wrath of the Reaper!" Ajal roared.

The story follows the life of John Grimshaw. From tragic beginnings to hopeful ends, John embarks on a quest for meaning. When visiting the cemetery he meets a girl named Jennifer Stone, a youthful teenager who quickly becomes a safety raft for John in turbulent times. But nothing could have prepared John for when he met the man in the pinstripe suit. The man with bright eyes, dark skin, and gleaming white teeth. The man claiming to the impossible and break the thin ice below John's feet entirely. (ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMER) This story starts off relatively dark. Those who dislike subject material surrounding loss, depression, grief, should probably not read. With that said, the story evolves into a supernatural thriller past the initial chapters. It’s a comparably low fantasy for a website like this but hope some of you still enjoy it.
