《Hello, Inside Monster》CHAPTER LVII: TRUTHS HIDDEN UNDER THE DOOR MAT

„Captain Lee! I didn’t expect to see you here!” said DooSan in amazement when he opened the door of the apartment and saw Lee standing right in front of the door.

„I also didn’t expect to find you here,” Lee snarled, looking in amazement around, for, in those places, where SolHi’s apartment was, he hadn’t been before. And… he had been even more surprised to find out from Kan that DooSan was living with SolHi at that moment and not in his old apartment. „Let’s have a walk!” he told DooSan.

„At this hour?!” DooSan asked in amazement. „It’s five o’clock in the morning, dude!”

„A morning hour when you are already awake!” Lee snarled again. „So, don’t waste my time anymore and follow me! I’ll wait for you downstairs,” and, without waiting for DooSan’s answer, Lee headed toward the stairs.

DooSan stared in amazement after the captain for a few moments, surprised to see him walking with his head bent and with his hands stuck into his pockets as Kan used to walk when he was thoughtful. „Are these two twins or what? The same walk, the same manner of letting you just know what you should do, and the same unpolite manner of giving orders,” DooSan mumbled and closed the door.

Then, he went to put a sports outfit on him and took the phone. But, before leaving the apartment, he made sure that SolHi was asleep. He even touched her forehead and checked if she doesn’t have a fever, for the E.R. doctor told him that this might happen, as a side effect of everything that happened a night ago.

His touch instead awoke SolHi, who stared in amazement at him. Then, she took a sitting position in bed and looked first at the window, seeing that it was dawn, but DooSan was already dressed. „Are you going somewhere?”

„Mmm. Captain Lee is here.”

„Captain Lee? And… why didn’t you wake me?” SolHi asked in amazement and tried to stand up.

DooSan stopped her instead: „he’s here for me, SolHi. Actually, I and captain Lee know each other for a long time already.”

„Why I’m not even surprised?!” SolHi mumbled, disappointed. „When we were investigating Lee Ha Ni’s case, you pretended that you just met him.”

„It has been his idea, for… I don’t even know why he did that. But…”

„You listened to him!”

„Something like that! Anyway, I’ll tell you more when I’m back. O.K.?”

„Alright. But, DooSan…”

„Mmm?”

„Nothing. You can go. We’ll talk about this later.”

„Ok, I’ll be back as soon as possible. You should have a little bit more rest. It’s still early,” and he forced her to lie in bed and covered her with the blanket.

But even if he saw that she obeyed him to sleep, DooSan didn’t rush to leave the apartment. He just stood for a few minutes next to the door, till SolHi didn’t fall again asleep, or at least this was what he thought - that she fell asleep, hearing her rhythmical and calm breath.

Eventually, DooSan looked at his wristwatch and he understood that he was already late. That’s why he rushed to leave the apartment, carefully closing the door behind him, and leaving a weird silence closed in that apartment that was bathed by semi-shadow.

„Do you love her?” asked Lee, after he and DooSan walked in silence, on those empty streets, barely illuminated by the dawn light, for a few minutes.

„To be honest… I don’t know,” murmured DooSan. „But… she worries me and I want her to be fine.”

„Then… you love her,” murmured Lee. „Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been here. I mean in her apartment. And… Kan told me already about what happened yesterday.”

DooSan stopped and deeply breathed in as if trying to calm down. „Did you find something?”

„No, nothing. That club is cleaner than a pharmacy. And… I don’t understand when did they manage to „clean” everything, for, as far as I could find out, Gi and Kan and the police entered the local right after detective Ian was given up for lost.”

„And this is true, for… I was there too. We even detained a few of the workers. There wasn’t anybody in that club to… Wait a minute!”

Lee stared in amazement at DooSan, who did the same: „The basement!” DooSan mumbled.

„The basement?! What are you…? Aaa, the text message sent by detective Ian to Kan.”

„What? Did SolHi send him a message?”

„Didn’t you know about this?”

„No. It’s the first time I hear that.”

„Then, how did you know about the basement?”

„SolHi told me. About 3 hours ago when we turned back home. She told me that after she lost consciousness, she had been taken through a kind of corridor with a lot of doors on each side and that… Nam Yun Ho was abusing or had abused someone… that she saw a young woman unconscious on the floor. But… it’s possible to everything be just a product of her imagination because of the drugs.”

„It wasn’t just a hallucination,” said Lee, walking further. „What detective Ian saw is true. Look!” and, taking a photo out of the inside jacket’s pocket, he gave it to DooSan.

It was a photo of the young woman found inside the trashcan, as the police found her. „Her name is Lee Da Hi! She was working as a hostess in that club for a year already. But… as we’ve been suspecting, she was doing… something more than this. However, we preferred not to investigate that.”

„Why? Do you suspect that in that club the hostesses were also providing sex work?”

„Not only. That’s why my men approached her about two months ago: she needed money, we… information. But… it seems that I’ve killed her with my own hands. Damn it!”

Then, another wave of silence took over them while the two men walked side by side, thoughtful. „Yet, I can’t give up. Not now, DooSan, not when I’m that close to grabbing that rat that kills my nerves for years already.”

„Min SinJu?”

„Who else?! Only he has always managed to slip between my fingers each time we had a clue about him. But… more than an injured ego, it’s my desire to make him pay for my dead fellows! I can’t forget this!”

„You’ll have this chance! Don’t worry, for… you aren’t the only one who is hunting him.”

„Do you mean detective Ian and you?”

„Not only. Gi, Kan, and the rest of the group also keep an eye on him. Sooner or later, he’ll fall, for… there’s nothing eternal in this world. The same will happen to this bug. God will take care to this happen.”

„But, DooSan, you forget that before God, we first meet the saints. You know that talk. And, regarding detective Ian… I want her far away from this operative.”

DooSan stopped, looking confused at Lee. „Don’t look at me like that,” said the captain. „Min SinJu knows her very well and, as far as I know, he can also be involved in detective Ian’s mother’s death. That’s why, do whatever you want, but… keep her away from me, because… I don’t want more victims, DooSan. No other victims that's close to you.”

Hearing the word „victim,” DooSan unwillingly touched the anorak’s collar, as if trying to weak a necktie that was squeezing his throat. „I understand what you mean, but… I don’t think that’ll be easy to keep her away from all this. Even if I don’t like to admit this, I must do that… I can’t handle over SolHi.”

„Then, use the blackmail, DooSan. If your authority like her boss doesn’t work, then use your mind and… your feelings like her man, and you must find a solution, for… I don’t think you’ll have a quiet sleep, knowing that the woman you love is so close to danger, for… even if I don’t agree with your choice, I won’t judge you.”

„Do you mean that SolHi is still a suspect in YuSan’s case?”

„This is also a reason, but… not only.”

„Then, don’t worry, for… I’m sure that not SolHi killed my brother.”

This was Lee’s turn to stare in amazement at DooSan. „I still don’t have evidence about this, but… I’ll find them, for… after yesterday, I’m sure that she didn’t kill YuSan. At least not willingly.”

„I have no idea what are you talking about, dude, but… be as you say. Anyway, as I already said: do whatever you want, but keep her away from us and this operative. Meanwhile, we’ll try to find out about the famous basement, for it won’t be surprising to be something like that. Let’s not forget that’s not the first case we are working together and we also found the victim in a basement last time.”

„Right! I forgot about this! Kim Ha Na has been found in a booth in the basement.”

„Yeah! That’s why I think that these two cases are related. And… to be more precise - I want you too out of this investigation, Han DooSan, for if I’m right and Min SinJu is involved, you are also in danger. And… as I already said, I don’t want more…”

„…victims! I got it already! Yet: you can’t ask me to stay away! We are talking about Min SinJu! You know very well everything I feel for that idiot and that I’m after him for so long already!”

„And I don’t forget that you are the only son still alive of my good friend Han Min San. Thus, I don’t want to lose you too. Not after because of me, YuSan…”

Lee suddenly kept silent and looked elsewhere, but his silence made DooSan alert. „YuSan what, captain? Was my brother involved in this investigation too?”

„Let’s just say that I can’t give you more details about this, DooSan. For the moment. Just… stay away from this and keep Ian SolHi even further from this. I’ll take care of the rest!” Then, Lee slowly tapped on DooSan’s shoulder and, at a quick step, he headed toward the black off-road car that was following them at a slow speed.

DooSan stared behind the captain till he got inside the car. Then, the driver pressed the gas pedal to the brim and, at a full speed, they left.

„So, there are secrets about which I don’t know!” DooSan murmured feistily. „To stay away from this? Well, better you should stay away, for not for nothing I’m in this game! And… I won’t stay away while others are trying to make justice for YuSan. I’ll do it with my own hands, no matter the costs.”

Saying this, he took the phone out of his pocket and, in a hurry, he dialed a number. „Detective Kan, it’s me! I need to see you! It’s urgent! Mmm, right away! I’ll wait for you at the prosecution. I’ll be there in about 1h. Yes, I’m already on my way,” and he also rushed, opposite to the way where Lee’s car had headed.

***

„What’s this?! Does he think I’m his mistress or what to give me orders with the first rays of the sun?! I want to see you! Right away!” Kan imitated DooSan, modifying a little his voice. „As if he missed me.”

He winced, seeing Yu behind him, staring at him in a funny way. „What?” Kan shouted, sticking his hands into his pockets. „Did you also miss me?”

„Do I look like one of your… „babies?”

„Huh, and thanks God that not!” Kan murmured, feisty. „Otherwise, I would have been a monk already.”

„Aga, tell this to those who don’t know you! So… who called you? One of your… „babies?” And Yu grinned.

Kan snarled instead: „of course! The one who loves me the most,” and he turned his back on the inspector.

„Where are you going?” Yu shouted.

Kan instead just waved, a hint for Yu to tend to his affairs. This made Yu make a wry face, seeing that he couldn’t find out anything. But, when he looked around, he realized in amazement that he spent another night inside of the prosecution, all alone.

***

Carefully opening the roof’s door, Kan made a wry face, seeing DooSan standing right next to the edge of the roof and looking at the city that was barely awakening at that early morning: 6 o’clock.

„It seems that these two love the roofs a lot,” Kan mumbled and tightly held the two coffee cups he brought with him, for after saying goodbye to Yu, he went and bought coffee, for he felt that he’ll have a damn long talk with DooSan and that he won’t have a chance to go to sleep. That’s why a hot coffee at that morning hour was exactly what he needed. „Well, it isn’t that surprising actually. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been together.”

Then, he approached DooSan, who didn’t look at him even for a second, even if Kan didn’t get closer to him on the tiptoe. Per contra: Kan even coughed to make his presence felt there. Only when Kan stretched his hand to give DooSan a cup of coffee, did the prosecutor finally react.

Even so, none of them said anything, but looked at the noise of the morning city in silence, for minutes in a row, as if they were just awakening like the city was doing.

„Yet, I don’t think you summoned me here just to enjoy the coffee with me at this early hour in the morning while looking at this romantic view, just the two of us,” Kan teased him eventually when he felt that silence being so uncomfortable.

„And you’re right. What I want you to tell me is what did you and SolHi find in that warehouse, that day,” and DooSan stared into Kan’s eyes.

Kan smiled and looked elsewhere, mumbling: „aaa, that’s why you called me here. And… I thought you missed me.”

„Let’s not hide behind the finger, Kan. I know you don’t like me because of SolHi and if I summoned you here wasn’t to make you think differently, but it’s for SolHi.”

„Really?” said Kan ironically, not at all convinced of what DooSan said. „I don’t think you care that much about her, prosecutor Han. Not after all we know that happened between you two.”

„What if you’re wrong?

„Wrong? Me? It can’t be, for… I’ve been a witness of this hell that lasted for 7 years already, prosecutor Han and namely because of this I won’t be deceived by words. You know that initially I’ve been involved in this case just as a detective, to be later a witness that testified in her favor. To end like her boss. And I’ve seen everything that happened to her all this time. So, I don’t believe in miracles. Not in those you want to make me believe.”

„To make you believe?”

„Yeah, to make me believe. Or what? Will you tell me that you decided to forget about your revenge because of your feelings for SolHi? Damn it! You said this: let’s not hide behind the finger. No one gives up to take revenge on the one who killed his brother for a woman. You rather give up on that woman and I’m sure that you won’t be late to do that as soon as you’ll have this opportunity.”

DooSan swallowed hard and drank the last coffee drops left on the bottom of the cup, which he later deformed in his hand. „Not everybody is like you, detective Kan,” DooSan hissed eventually through his teeth.

„Really?” said Kan, feisty. „And… may I know what makes you different?”

„The fact that I won’t give up on anybody. Not before finding out the truth.”

„Do you know?! This was what I’ve expected to hear from you,” shouted Kan, slumming the cup, and the remained coffee on the bottom of the cup had been scattered all around. Then, like a mad bulldog, he stared into DooSan’s eyes, hissing through his teeth: „then, I’ll make you find out that truth you so insistently are looking for, prosecutor Han. But I’m not that sure you’ll still be in your right mind after that.”

***

Squatting in front of that cement pylon on which SolHi and Kan found that blood mark some time ago, a mark that was still seen on that wall, DooSan whispered: „what do you want to say is that what happened 7 years ago actually started here?”

„This is not a suspicion anymore: it’s a fact. And you’re right - the first part of that crime took place here,” said Kan, standing behind DooSan, with his hands stuck into his pockets and looking at that abandoned warehouse that seemed different to him this time.

„That part with the supposed rape, right?” DooSan snapped it, standing up and facing Kan’s furious glance, who, hearing those words that he found bullshit, stared at him as if ready to kill him.

Disappointed, Kan said after a few moments of silence: „and you still aren’t convinced that what I’ve told you yesterday is true. That SolHi has been a victim of a rape, 7 years ago.”

„And… would you have believed that? There’s no evidence about this: no document, no medical result, no witness.”

„This means that you’ve investigated this.”

„And… wouldn’t you have investigated this in my place?! Yeah, I did that! I investigated even the last shit met in my way to find out the truth, for it was unreal what happened: a simple high school teacher kills a big man, who besides the fact that was a prosecutor had also great knowledge and years of practice in a variety of sports like jiu-jitsu, tang soo do, taekwondo, wushu, etc. It would have been enough a single tough movement to knock her down and immobilize her, for SolHi didn’t know about martial arts at that moment and she wouldn't have been able to face him. But even so: YuSan was found dead, with a hole in his head, like a high school kid who knew nothing. Anyone in my place would have done the same.”

„But not everyone would have tried to kill the alleged murderer, disconnecting the breathing machine,” said Kan in a whisper and somehow feeling sick remembering this. „What you’ve done that night, could have killed her.”

DooSan again swallowed hard. Then, tears leaked on his cheeks. „And… what should I have done then?! It was my brother! My beloved brother was found dead, in weird circumstances, with a woman next to him, a woman about who nobody knew anything and who everybody called her assassin. How did you want me to react?” DooSan shouted.

„Having trust in your own brother, idiot, for… you are who said: Han YuSan had amazing sports skills, but he had been found dead eventually, next to an unconscious woman, who had actually multiple injuries, wounds that healed in about a year, because… SolHi had half of her body almost paralyzed that night. That’s why she had been kept hidden from you till she recovered: she asked us for that. She asked the police and the prosecution for the chance to first stand up and to later have the process. And she did this, for SolHi stood in prison for a few months after she recovered. For what? Paying what? For her child’s death and for a crime that she doesn’t remember?”

„But… it’s insane what you say, Kan. It’s unbelievable. There’s no evidence… nothing… I can’t…”

Kan took his phone out of his pocket and put it in DooSan’s hand, on whose screen DooSan could see a PDF file. „Open it and you’ll have that evidence you’re so insistently asking for.”

With a shaking hand, DooSan opened that file, which was in fact a document with SolHi’s medical record, the 7 years ago one. And, among those pages, DooSan could also see the medical record of the rape and the fact that SolHi needed about a year to stand again up, recovering from the slight paralyze she got in that night.

DooSan staggered to his feet, squeezing the phone: „it’s real! Everything! Including the… rape!” he said, staring at Kan with pleading eyes, asking him to tell him that everything was just a lie and that he hadn’t been wrong all that time.

„I’m sorry if it isn’t what you expected to find out, prosecutor Han, but it’s the truth. A truth that SolHi decided to hide from you.”

„But why?” shouted DooSan.

„Because she didn’t want your and your mother’s mercy. She didn’t want anybody’s mercy,” and Kan’s words made DooSan shake from top to toe. „SolHi asked that this document shouldn’t be presented like evidence to the trial, for… she wanted to protect her dead child. She didn’t want others to mention him in that dirty war.”

„Un,” murmured DooSan.

„Mmm, Un! This is the name SolHi chose for her baby. But she never had the chance to call him by this name. And… do you know why I’m so close to her? Do you know why I consider her as being my daughter? Why do I love her like a sister? It’s because I also lost a child and I know how it feels for a woman to know that her baby died in her womb. It simply kills you inside and you get to also slowly die. As it happened to my wife.”

DooSan stared at Kan even more confused, to eventually murmur: „you’ve been married?”

„Yeah, and because I’ve wanted to make others justice like a detective, the one who paid for my sins has been my wife, who fell prey to the same bastard I threw into jail. It was a young man, who barely turned 18, but who had a rotten character and a black soul: a serial rapist, even at that young age. And… he did what he knew better, what I threw him in jail for, and when he could escape from prison, he did what he did and this killed my wife. I found her hanged, a week only after that incident when she lost the baby we were expecting. And… as SolHi, my wife lost a month's pregnancy then.”

DooSan gave Kan his phone back and he again squatted, supporting his head with his palms and staring at a blind point. Then, he mumbled: „I don’t know what to say. I don’t even know what to think.”

„You don’t have to: neither to say something nor to believe. All you have to do is to stop taking revenge on SolHi for a death she isn’t guilty of.”

This made DooSan suddenly stand up as if Kan’s words reminded him about thoughts he had long ago, feelings he thought that he buried inside him, feelings born because of hatred and desire to take revenge. „This hasn’t been proved yet,” he hissed through his teeth. „And this isn’t something I think or suspect: SolHi always said this. So many times. That she killed YuSan.”

Kan ironically smiled: „and… when did she say that? When she was standing in front of you looking straight into your eyes or when she was lying on the floor, having one of her anxiety or epilepsy crises? Those she has for 7 years already.”

DooSan looked thunderstruck at him: „what? Crises?”

„I can’t believe this,” Kan mumbled. „You live with her for so long already, but you have no idea about anything. And, to be honest, I start to doubt that you ever felt something for SolHi, prosecutor Han. This makes me think that you’re there only to fulfill your nasty thoughts and to make true your desire of taking revenge on her for your brother. Trampling her under your feet, no matter if she’s guilty or not.”

„Detective Kan, you’re crossing the line!”

„And you not? I’m more than sure that I’m right. And I know this after I kept an eye on your shabby game all this time, that damn game you’re playing again with SolHi, a dirty game in which you dragged her too, telling her that „she pays her debts this way.” What damn debt does she have to pay to you? A death that she isn’t aware of or simply you don’t care about this anymore and you just want someone to pay for it? Or… maybe, you’re just playing with her?! You know, that talk: I did my job, I put my hat on my head, and I left. Let’s her handle everything that comes. Right?”

„Detective Kan!”

„What?! Am I wrong? No, I’m not! In case I am, prove it! By moving away from her.”

„You’re incredible!” said DooSan, watching the detective with hatred, like a rival, even if he didn’t understand why he was seeing a rival in Kan, who never demonstrated such intentions with SolHi, at least not that obviously, to be noticed by others as he did no gesture to be wrongly understood. „You’re asking me to leave and to let everything behind me. But… I won’t, for… if I didn’t this when it was only about making justice to YuSan, I’ll less do it now when…”

„And? What changed now? Love? Attraction? Sympathy? Sexual desire?”

„You’re crossing the line!” DooSan hissed through his teeth. „I won’t allow you to…”

Kan grabbed DooSan by the collar, with both hands, squeezing the anorak’s cloth as hard as he could: „what I won’t allow you is to finish your devilish game and to make SolHi suffer in the end. I won’t allow you to reach your goals, for I’m sure that you’re in her house to look for the famous evidence and to throw her to jail, and if you don’t find them… well, no loss - you at least had some fun! So What? It was at least some pleasure!”

A punch in his face threw him to the ground. „Don’t compare me with you, detective Kan. I… never use a woman to leave her later behind and…”

Kan instead, mad like a bull, threw himself over DooSan, knocking him down, and they started a real battle with punches and kicks, rolling all around and hitting everything they met in their way.

***

After she finally woke up, SolHi looked amazed around, but she saw nobody. It was also silence in the bathroom, even if, sitting on the bed, she focused to hear the water running in the shower: „he isn’t back yet?” SolHi wondered and looked at the clock - 8.30.

Taking her phone, she dialed DooSan’s number. But only after one ringtone, the voice mail entered. „What’s this? Did he decide to turn off his phone already?! Why am not even surprised?!” she mumbled, throwing the phone on the bed and standing up. „Anyway, it wasn’t real what he told me last night. His guilt talked as always instead of him,” she added, entering the bathroom.

But… not even the water that was cascading all over her body didn’t manage to calm her down, even if she didn’t understand why she was feeling like that - nervous, a kind of anxiety she had never felt before. But she was sure that it wasn’t because of yesterday's events, but it was more because she felt abandoned.

„Stop it at once, SolHi!” she told herself in a demanding voice. „You didn’t expect that he’ll be always by your side, right?! What happened yesterday it’s just the product of his worry as your boss. Nothing more. Yeah… it’s like that! He did what he did last night for he felt guilty for he couldn’t protect you. Yes…”

Suddenly, cold water started to pour from the shower which made her wince and rush to turn it off. Then, outraged, she looked at the shower, whose handle she was still squeezing, and mumbled: „what the hell is this? Don’t tell me that we ran out of boiling water because someone didn’t pay the bill?! Ah, I hate the bad days that start like that right from the beginning,” she hissed through her teeth and, grabbing the towel left on the bath’s edge, she wrapped it around her body and left the bathroom, slamming the door.

But, right in front of the door, she stumbled against the threshold, for, being furious and not seeing where she was stepping, she was about to fall on her stomach. Instead, she fell into DooSan’s arms, who just turned back home and was not that far from her.

„You,” SolHi hissed through her teeth, squeezing his arms not to lose her balance again. „It’s only your fault that I was about to…,” but she kept silent, seeing DooSan’s face and, wide-opening her eyes, she started to analyze what she was seeing - a broken lip, a fresh wound on the corner of the lips, some bruises and scratches on his face and neck, the broken anorak and his hair a mess.

Puffing, SolHi finally touched his face, trying to see the wounds from closer. DooSan instead turned his face to the left, trying to hide the traces of his fight with Kan. But, when SolHi forced him to look at her with a sudden move, he realized what she had put on her and, pushing her suddenly toward the bed, she laid her on it, and he on top of her.

SolHi hiccupped, quickly blinking from her eyelashes, for it wasn’t what she had expected from him. „You what?” she muttered, defending herself with her arms.

DooSan only swallowed hard, staring at her neck and bare shoulders on which water drops were still running down and, to escape the temptation, he right away wrapped her with the blanket. Then, he stood up and took a few steps through the room, trying to cool himself down.

SolHi finally managed to release herself from that trap. But yet, she decided not to take the risk and covered herself with the blanket, up to the neck. But she right away remembered about his bruises and said: „Han DooSan, just be honest - did you find another cat somewhere?”

This made DooSan suddenly turn toward her, forgetting about the heat and that she was almost naked in that blanket, which was a temptation he barely could resist: „what?” he muttered eventually.

„If not, then: where the hell have you been that you turned back home to such an extent?”

„It’s none of your business!” he rushed to say and headed toward the bathroom.

SolHi instead wasn’t a woman to give up on something if she was curious about it. So, she followed him. But she suddenly stopped and took a few steps back when DooSan turned toward her: „what? What now?” she mumbled.

„Will you enter the shower with me?” DooSan said, grinning. „Not the other, but… I might agree to this,” but he had been forced to grab SolHi’s arm when she tried to slap him. „If not, stay calm and… cover your body a little bit! Not the other, SolHi, but I’m also a man. I also have feelings!” he said, grabbing that blanket with both hands and tightly wrapping her in it. Then, he entered the bathroom, slamming the door.

SolHi froze while the same sentence was spinning in her mind over and over again: Not the other, SolHi, but I’m also a man. I also have feelings!” and, so suddenly that this surprised even her, she hiccupped… once… twice… three times, feeling that her face was burning in flames.

But she forgot about the hiccup and breathed a sigh of relief, hearing the water running in the shower. Two seconds later, DooSan’s roar, heard all over the house, made her crawl back, to see him after another two seconds, showing up in front of the door, trying to cover himself with the towel. „SolHi, what’s this? What happened with the water?”

„Are you asking me now?” SolHi said ironically. „You don’t even suspect that’s your fault.”

„Mine? And… may I know since when?”

„Since you didn’t pay the bill?” SolHi hissed through her teeth. „Or what, did you think that they are paying themselves? They are just reaching for your credit card and funding the money to the government’s account?”

DooSan swallowed hard again: he had definitely forgotten, for after the story with SolHi, when he found out that she lacked money, DooSan told her that he was the man in that house and that he’ll pay for everything. But… he right away forgot about it.

And there was one more reason why he had decided to pay for everything - the fact that Yu told him that he was an Alfons. This definitely hurt his ego and he decided to demonstrate that he wasn’t like others said. But… he had forgotten this, and not because he wasn’t able to remember something that simple, but because he never paid bills, ever in his life.

While he lived in Marie’s house, it had been she who paid them. Then, living alone, he told the servant to take care of everything related to his apartment, and when he moved to SolHi’s apartment, she took care of everything. That’s why it was really easy for him to forget.

„And… is there something we can do now?” he innocently murmured.

„Absolutely! To pay it: the bill and the fine, Han DooSan. And you’ll do it! Right after exiting the shower, you’ll move your ass to the bank and you’ll pay for everything, for I won’t give you no damn penny to do it!”

SolHi was really furious, for no matter what problems she had in the past, she had never forgotten to pay the bills. DooSan instead forgot it right from the first month he said he would pay, and this made her think that she can’t really count on him.

Seeing her spitting fire all around, DooSan tried to slowly close the door, looking for shelter while he was looking around like a puppy that had been scolded for a blunder. But even so, he really looked sweet. But he stopped, seeing SolHi piercing him with her furious glance and hissing him through her teeth: „and don’t even think that you’ll bluff it out, Han DooSan. And this is also for that „cat” that tried her nails on you… if I find her, I’ll swear that I leave her without nails and fur! And now: close that door!” she said furiously and, seeing that DooSan was waiting for something, she approached the door and, grabbing the doorknob, she closed it, slamming it right in front of DooSan.

But that gesture of her, of innocent jealousy, made DooSan smile, especially hearing her mumbling while walking back and forth through the room while dressing herself: „What? Did she dare to scratch him? The man that isn’t hers? Well, just wait, you, damn cat: you’ll see what one like me can do when some damn furry stupid tries to hurt what’s mine.”

„What a relief!” murmured DooSan, sticking his back against the door and smiling, for SolHi had another preoccupation at that moment - one that wasn’t dangerous at all. And, about that „cat” - it wouldn't have been that difficult for her to understand who she was, for, right after she would have seen detective Kan, it would have been clear who injured DooSan.
